Kleinfeld Hudson’s Bay

Two words to describe the overall experience: Freaking Amazing!
I booked an appointment at Kleinfeld’s based on a recommendation by my sister and a close friend. I did not know what to expect when we arrived, but we were treated with very well. They offered us water prior to the dress fitting.
Inside was just gorgeous, all the pretty dresses and the fitting room area was open and well lit. Throughout the dress fitting experience, I felt very pampered. I really appreciated the suggestion by our dress consultant and she was very patient through the fitting process.
Sidenote: Make sure you book an appointment early. Most of their dress need about 8 – 10 months prior to your wedding day.
Unfortunately, I did not end up selecting a dress from Kleinfeld. But I would highly recommend Kleinfeld for an amazing dress shopping experience!

Overall very good, you have a consultation with a dress specialist and they can help you with any budget. All the dresses and accessories were well kept seeing how many ladies try on everything.
SERVICE
I love it! This place is fancier looking than most bridal boutiques, but you did feel uncomfortable. All the ladies were nice, bottles of water were given and no once did we feel pressured to buy.
Overall, very good. I can’t wait to come this location for my own wedding.

Kleinfeld was hands down my favourite dress shopping experience, and I suggest you come here if you have a lengthier engagement. I was engaged for 4 months and most of the dresses there require 6 months to ship.
But let me tell you about how wonderful the shopping experience is:
I felt like I was in a movie about getting married! The spacious store is done in white with hardwood floors and the most beautiful wedding dresses and shoes on display.
The fitting room was massive. Large enough for a rack of dresses, 2 chairs, a small table and 3 people to spend several hours in comfortably. My SA was with us the whole time, helping me in and out of each dress I tried on. (Not every place does this.)
The dresses are not cheap, but the website preps you for this with a price legend starting at $$$ (which is just under $ 3,000 I believe), and going up to $$$$$.
I was able to make a wish list on their website, but the list wasn’t sent over to the store when I made the appointment. I had to log into my account on my SA’s iPad to show her what I wanted. This was back in May. They may have fixed this glitch.
Most of the dresses I liked couldn’t ship in time for my wedding, so I wasn’t able to buy a dress from here, but my mother and I agreed Kleinfeld was the nicest dress shopping experience we had.
TIP– I’ve heard their alterations are extremely pricey. you may want to go somewhere else for those.

OMG! What an utter disappointment. I felt completely jipped in coming here to look at bridesmaids dresses.
First of all, you have to make an appointment, which deserves 1 star just for that. I didn’t book my appointment online as it appears that is only for initial consultations for wedding dresses, but I called and left a message… and someone called me back within half an hour to confirm. Easy peesy.
But the rest was a complete letdown.
First of all, Kleinfeld’s at the moment only has two short racks of dresses, that takes only a corner. One rack is devoted to Monique Lhuiller (sp?) with limited styles. The second rack are full of dresses that resemble what you would wear on the beach. It’s made of cloth and it’s a dress that you can wear a «million» different ways. It was super casual and the way the dresses were tied up, it looked like they were scarves?!?
And that’s it. Nothing else.
They book you in for an hour appointment, but my girls and I were done in 15 minutes. To the consultant’s credit, she stated Kleinfeld’s was going to get more dresses in the ‘future’ but I wish when you call (or when someone calls you back) they let you know in advance so people don’t have to waste their time looking at one brand/​one style, or beach dresses.
Second, for the bridesmaids, they shove you into one changing room which means no need to be shy as you just change in front of everyone. It’s fine if everyone knows each other, but for my girls, this was the first time some of them met each other and it was uncomfortable to be flinging bras et al in front of each other.
My girls only tried three dresses because I had to pull some dresses I knew wouldn’t fit, but just so we didn’t make the drive out completely useless. At least this time around though, we weren’t made to wait 45 minutes after our appointment time though.
FYI — When booking for bridesmaids dresses, please ask if they have received anymore selections other than Monique or that wrap-​yourself beach dress. If you know you want these, then by all means, make the appointment and you’ll be done within 30 minutes. But if you want lots of selection, more than just a rack of one designer, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND White Yorkville. This place has an ENTIRE FLOOR dedicated to all varieties, colors, styles and everything else for bridesmaids. Plus, they have separate changing rooms (4) for your girls so privacy guaranteed. And if you’re lucky to get Andrea (the owner), she is fab and is the perfect consultant that can suggest anything and everything!

Six months, seven boutiques, and over 35 dresses later, I finally said «yes» to the dress at Kleinfeld. I’m also a lazy «bridechilla» so dress shopping has been, by far, the most excruciating part of wedding planning. I wanted a sleek and modern dress with sleeves. Easy peasy, I thought. But I was wrong. So very wrong. While there were a few that came very close, there was always a «but» — a tiny detail that needed to be added or changed. So, since this ain’t my first rodeo, I went into Kleinfeld with my expectations in check.
I went alone and was a teensy bit late (I got lost on the seventh floor amongst the KitchenAid mixers) but I finally found the unmistakable sign. The décor is chic and understated and the fitting rooms are huge and well-​lit. My consultant was Mackenzie and we hit it off from the get go. She’s warm, patient and has fantastic taste. I told her about our venue and my favorite designers whose dresses were far beyond my budget (Reem Acra, Zuhair Murad, etc.). I was a bit overwhelmed by the selection so I asked her to pull dresses for me instead. And she nailed it. Even on the hanger, it was beautiful and dramatic… and it had beautiful sleeves! I almost cried at the sight of the sleeves alone.
It can be intimidating at first since Kleinfeld is an institution but there was no air of snootiness, unlike some of the upscale boutiques I’ve been to — in fact, everyone was lovely and helped make the process fun and comfortable. I felt bad for going over my allotted one hour limit but Mackenzie happily brought in more dresses for me to try. When I finally returned to buy the dress (this time with a large group), there were hugs, champagne and tears. I’ve since met other brides-​to-​be and told them to hightail it to Kleinfeld. The service was exceptional. So try to schedule an appointment during a weekday, keep an open mind and trust your consultant.

Although I didn’t buy my dress at Kleinfelds, I was extremely impressed with the service. My consultant, Mackenzie, was nice and knowledgable, and never put pressure on me. We went over my hour and a half, as she wanted to make sure I got to try everything on in the room. Her suggestions were great and she understood my style and what I was going for. I have been in the fashion industry for years, and I was incredibly impressed with my consultants knowledge of construction, fabrication and design. The only reason why this is a 4 star review is because the dress selection was not unique enough for me.

I had an amazing experience at Kleinfelds. My group of ladies had the comfy sofas in a corner away from the changerooms. The stylist pulled the dresses that I had already picked out from their website. I had told her that my wedding was in July and she said she would double check to make sure the gowns I wanted were available. She said we were good so we started trying them on.
She wasn’t pushy. Her plan for me that day was to just narrow down a silhouette but I wanted to buy a dress that day.
The 4^th dress I tried on was amazing. It was THE dress I wanted. Sadly, the manager came into the changeroom when I walked back to say that the designer is currently working on gowns for Sept weddings so there was a good chance I wouldn’t be able to get it.
I left annoyed because I wanted to avoid this situation. It was a great experience and I absolutely recommend people to go, just make sure they triple check gown availability if you’re on a tight timeline.

The store was beautiful but it was the most frustrating wedding dress shopping experience I have had. My consultant didn’t listen to my description of what I wanted and she kept putting me in styles that I said I didn’t want. Altogether it was a waste of my time. I was very disappointed.

I had an appointment on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 5:30PM. I did not end up purchasing my dress here even though there was one dress I really loved, but I really want to let everyone know how wonderful my experience was with them! It is pretty tricky trying to find the bridal shop as it is at the very end of a department store floor. I think it should be the first thing people see when they get out of the elevator or at least have a sign leading you to the fabulous shop! It was my very first wedding dress appointment and my consultant Kristina made it an extremely pleasant one. She was young, but I would’ve never known if I didn’t ask. I am a young bride at the age of 23 and felt very comfortable with Kristina. I actually admitted to her that I was a bit nervous that Kleinfeld’s was going to have a sort of stuck up, high maintenance kind of atmosphere, but I was totally wrong as everyone was kind and just wanted to let brides and their guests have a good, fun experience!
Kristina listened to and took notes on what I was looking for. I had picked some dresses online for my Wish List to help the consultants out, but it didn’t seem like they really looked at that. I could be wrong though, because Kristina did pull out one dress from my Wish List, which was actually the dress to beat. It was pretty affordable at $ 1,500, but because there was so much beautiful beading, it made the dress heavy and not what I would prefer to be in at a destination wedding in Mexico. Most of the dresses I tried on were quite heavy, but great quality for sure. There was one gorgeous dress I tried on that was lightweight, but it was way over budget and looked more like an evening gown than a wedding dress to me. Once you choose your favorite dress (or THE dress), they complete your look with a veil and give you a bouquet to walk with around the gallery towards a big mirror so you could really envision yourself walking down the aisle in that dress!
Kleinfeld is definitely the most beautiful bridal shop I’ve been to throughout my shopping journey, but also the most expensive. The fitting rooms are huge and gorgeous with mirrors. They even provide you with a comfy silk robe when you have to wait for the consultant to pull more dresses out for you! Kleinfeld’s has beautiful 3-​way mirrors and pedestals for you to stand on to provide a nice view for yourself and your guests. My mom, mom-​to-​be and 3 bridesmaids were made comfortable as well with lovely leather seating and cute mini Kleinfeld water bottles. We weren’t allowed to take pictures, which is really a pain as it would be very helpful for the decision-​making process, but I was lucky enough to have some sly ladies in the crowd ;)
I loved that Kristina was not pushy at all and she understood how important it is for a bride to take her time to decide on a dress. The Kleinfeld staff was great with providing detailed costs — before taxes, after taxes, 60% of the price which is what is required for the deposit. They also told me about the alterations available on-​site (at a high cost!), but they informed me that I was free to take the dress elsewhere. The receptionist was very efficient in booking my follow-​up appointment with the same consultant. Kleinfeld’s sends you confirmation emails for all appointments and also give you reminder calls, which is nice.
Overall, I recommend Kleinfeld’s to any bride, whether you’ve got money to blow or even if your budget is not so high, it’s good to see and feel what top quality dresses are like and the staff will treat you like a queen!
