Altered Image

Had a zipper repair there, they were very nice and did it very fast since it was an emergency I don’t understand all the hate.

If I could have given less than 1 star I would have. I brought them a very expensive BCBG dress, that I bought for my cousin’s wedding, to have the bust taken in a bit and a loose seam replaced on the base of the zipper.
I suppose they may deserve the full one star because they did an ok job on two small darts on the bust though they did charge $ 15 for this and it likely took them about a minute.
The zipper repair, which should have been the easier fix, ruined the dress at the base of the zipper. There are small pleats all over the dress, which altered image flattened, and refused to fix, she told me it was impossible and that there was no way to do this except with the machine that created the dress (I find that hard to believe since that would mean I could never launder the dress). She said it was a hard thing to do and that it was the best she could do. I wish she had said that before I paid them (upfront as other reviewer have said). Th «repair» also left a large and obvious bump in what started as a very streamlined dress. When I said I was unhappy the woman, rudely, told me that was the the best she could do and all she could do was take the stitches out and give me my money back and argued with me for some time. I said yes please, I would like my money and dress back. Then she said she would try again and made me wait for over half an hour before even telling me why, she then told me to come back another day. When I returned today the seam was changed and the dress made tighter and it looked even worse. When I said this the woman who had fixed it again said that was the best she could do and yelled at me. Even other patrons were telling her it looked bad but she refused to listen. I insisted on my money back and her solution was to sew a large seam all the way down the full length of the back of the dress. I said absolutely not and again asked for my money back. She again held my dress hostage while making another alteration and making me wait over half an hour with no explanation. Finally, she said, in front of me, to her colleague «the dress is just too tight on you so the seam doesn’t work». I had bought it two days prior and it fit perfectly in the store, so that was clearly not the case until Altered Image Got their hands on it. Even if that were true I don’t appreciate being called fat when I am paying for a service. My $ 550 dress is now ruined, I could have done a better job. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY, STAY CLEAR!

Extremely expensive for a very very simple hem. The lady there was also not friendly at all.

I do NOT recommend this place, what so ever.
If you are getting a formal suit or a dress done then the prices I suppose are fair, but I got a tiny pair of women’s shorts altered there and they charged me 50 dollars, which costed more than the shorts themselves. Further more they did a TERRIBLE job because the shorts are STILL too big. Waste of money. If you are getting a tux tailored, then I suppose the cost is insignificant to what you paid for the suit, but I do not recommend this place for casual alterations. Also, they make you pay upfront, which I suppose makes sense if the alterations are to cost you a lot and they don’t want to complete services without a secure deposit, but for me with a small pair of shorts I would have preferred to pay afterward in case the shorts turned out to be terrible, which they did, and the money ended up outweighing the cost of the shorts I bought at Urban Outfitters. They offered to instead re tailor them, as opposed to giving my money back. but seeing as they did a terrible job the first time I did not trust them to correct the alterations so instead I paid 50 dollars for nothing. This is no isolated incident either because my friend also had a problem with them as well. Meh, they’re in the heart of downtown across from the Eaton Centre, so they feel they can do whatever they want I guess.
