Love the atmosphere and the people there seem really nice. Had a muffin and an americano and was disappointed with both, mostly the muffin, it was practically inedible.

Impressive coffee list and liked the effort they tried to put into their food and roastings. BUT… The management and employees have their head on backwards. The food was way overpriced and just meh. The best part was the cheese that came from a local shop just down the street. So I cant even give the credit for that. And after a lengthy and exhausting exchange between the owner about setting up a roasting/tasting(that ended up being cancelled) I will never spend another dime there ever again. And not only that I openly encourage others to find a more stable minded and accountable business that doesnt turn coffee into such a stressful experience.

I love this place! Great coffee, cool atmosphere. Not to mention, I love the tea they serve. Dandelion Sun Tea, all organic and handmade. The Pink Relaxer has to be my favorite tea. If you are in the neighborhood, I suggest you stop by and grab a cup of tea.

This is a lovely coffee shop. Super relaxed and cozy interior, and on nice days there’s a tiny patio in back(I use the word patio loosely) surrounded by plants, it is small and right in front of parking spot for the nearby house but it’s nice and quiet and closed off from the hustle and bustle of dundas street so no complaints here! The owner is very nice, friendly and conversational. There’s a five dollar minimum for debit and ten for credit. All there food items are made in house and coffees and specialty drinks are super affordable!

They have WiFi which is always a plus. For those that want to get away from your devices you can come in and grab a book from the decently sized collection they have available for you. The first thing when you enter Full Of Beans is the aroma it hits you like a tonne of brick, I personally LOVE the smell of coffee so I was instantly in heaven. I ordered a small latte with soy milk. I was able to find a comfy spot on one of the love seats and had my latte brought over to me when it was done. It was was just right, the temperature was spot on, it was frothy on the top and the taste was delicious. My latte was 3 $ and well worth it. What’s neat about Full of Beans is they have a Roasting machine at the front of the store! I would come back again for a latte and a relaxing break from the outside world.

Really tasty coffee. One of my favorite lattes. The place usually has a quiet and calm vibe, so a great place to get work done.

Best coffee in the city, in my opinion. The Coffee Tree Roastery is far closer to me, but I come here for freshly roasted beans. The aroma is JUSTTHATGOOD! The fact that they roast daily makes a very easily noticeable difference between Full of Beans and all the other coffee houses. Including the other roasteries! When I serve ppl coffee at home, they do notice the superior taste, aroma, flavour, and smoothness of the coffee I serve them.

I’ll serve only the best coffee in my coworking space, and I get it from Full of Beans. I love that Lori roasts her coffees in small batches, and it’s a thrill to watch the roasting happen in the century old Jabez Burns sample batch roaster. The neighbourhood smells divine when she’s roasting! The café is quaint without being kitschy. The back patio is lovely. And it’s truly a neighbourhood hub of activity with events and art exhibits. The food is delicious — try the handmade crackers. She just started selling Pluck Teas too, which is a premium and local tea company. It’s a great café with fabulous staff. I love Full of Beans!

Fantastic coffee. Has a relaxed vibe and with the coffee roasting by the front door it smells fantastic. Try the Guatemala beans!

I’ve never written a Unilocal review before, and I haven’t been to Full of Beans in a few months now. But I decided to go out of my way to share my love for this little hole in the wall. This place makes the best Americano I’ve had, anywhere, ever. And I am well traveled coffee lover. Something magical is happening here, and I wish I could transplant this little shop to my native Ottawa. I would single-handedly keep them in business. Keep up the good work.

Just happened to stroll in, looking for a place with decent coffee to do some writing and make change for the streetcar. I enjoyed the reading the review from Mauricio, who came here and had a terrible evening with the live comedians. And I agree, so much of how I review places are based on my experience which may or may not have anything to do with the place itself. My experience on that Friday afternoon was quite different. No terrible vagina jokes directed at me, thank goodness. That said, apparently timing is everything. Atmosphere: There are a ton of books here. None that I want to read, but I still love it because of the feeling I get from dark wood shelves of books. Its spacious, cozy, a variety of places to sit(soft chairs, solo or small groups). There is one long exposed brick wall covered in art. There are plants. It feels good. Service: The woman serving me was friendly and kind. The first coffee I ordered was lukewarm, but I wasn’t too picky. When I ordered my second coffee I mentioned it, just to make sure the next one would be hotter. She gave me a very hot coffee in the house, apologized and thanked me for letting her know. HIGHLIGHT: you know those thick shortbread cookies some places carry that have a big chunk of chocolate in the center? They have chewy ones made with rice flour. Yes, gluten free delicious shortbread. Apparently, they have a lot of gluten free options, including lunch items(something about using chic pea flour… I don’t remember what it was, I was too focused on the cookie). So speak up and ask them about options! They have them, and they sound yummy. The missing star is for lack of wheelchair accessibility, as the bathrooms are downstairs. I will certainly be back, and put Full of Beans on my list of great places for coffee meetings with friends or clients.

I stopped by Full of Beans Coffee House & Roastery last year for the previous Indie Coffee Passport. I remembered I wasn’t able to use the outlets, even though there was Wi-Fi available. That is still the case today. This is a great location to sit and get work done, however, warning for those planning to bring their laptops: bring a fully charged one. I came in around 4PM for my second visit and it was quite empty, with no more than two to three customers every hour aside from myself. Before I sat down to start studying, I got to speak with Lori, the owner of the café. She recognized me as one of the café’s Facebook fans! It is always so nice to be recognized, haha(the power of Facebook!). Everything sold on the menu is made in-house, including the pâté spread(I don’t know about you, but I love pâté!). They roast their coffee beans everyday as well. The café hosts open mic every Saturday night and some live music on the weekends. Live music doesn’t happen consistently every weekend, but would be booked randomly from time to time. Another event called the Brockton Series happens on the first Wednesday of every two months(next one happening on March 6th!). This is a writer series in which readings are done by published or ready-to-be published authors. Going on with the book theme, the café also has a take-a-book-leave-a-book corner. Artwork by local artists are sold and changed every month. All in all, this is one of the locations I would recommend for those who would like some quiet time to get work done(when the café is not hosting during the weekends). It has an overall nice atmosphere and comfortable setting.

I came here for as part of Indie Coffee Passport 2012(ICP). Having tried it last year and not being satisfied with their cappuccino I decided to try something else. Their claim to fame is their small batch roasting operation. This trip they didn’t have running and thanks to that the whistling noise was absent that I encountered last year. Though it didn’t matter as on a nice sunny day like today I decided to take on of the two seats outside and ordered an Americano. Espresso: Strong Crema’: decent Milk: NA Latte Art: NA The Americano fared much better than the cappuccino as it did pack the wallop needed for this drink. Quite a decent version of this drink 3 Stars.

Sometimes when I write a review I ask myself two questions: Am I writing about the venue because of the place in general or because of the experience I had WHILE I was there? Well, it seems unfair to write about something without the other and since I cannot write about what I have not experienced, then I must write what I *did* experience and not of how it could have been. So by that metric, Full Of Beans unfortunately gets an unfair one star rating but if you remove the ‘experience’ factor this place would get much higher since the coffee is alright. Let me start by stating this place looks very cozy, eclectic furniture sure adds a lot of charm plus I always respect locales which allocate some space to bookshelves. It not only adds to the decour but if you want to pick a tome, well, there they are, waiting for the browsing. Sadly, the day my three friends and I dropped by was their comedy night and what a horrible train-wreck that was. Yes, I understand these stand-up, sink or swim style comedy nights can be a wash, but the place is small enough that it cannot be avoided. Here let me tell you the ways this was sad: * Total count of my friends including me? 4 * Total number of working staff? 1 * Total number of comedians? 11 * Total number of people at FBC? 16 * Horrible, awkward and humourless moments where a «comedian’ says something sadistically unfunny and the silence produced by said joke(congratulate me! I have never used the term more loosely!) is thick enough it could cut through a solid lead anvil? At least 27+ before we left. * Crude, sexist, vagina related comments a «comedian” tried to use to engage one of my girlfriends and to blame and attack us for not laughing at his unfunny diatribe? 4 *How many more comments did he need to make for us to take him out back and ‘have a talk to him?‘ 0 Needless to say, we decided to take the high road and leave. Aside the jokes being insulting and unfunny as a visit to a morgue, we felt really bad for the guys who were simply not funny… you know, all of them. Good for them for trying though… actually, now that I think about it, no, not good at all! They were really, really bad which for us, just mere coffee drinkers sitting there, created what became a very awkward experience. There is no saving grace from that level of unfunny. Needless to say if you want to try this place, avoiding their comedy night is probably a safe first step to increase your enjoyment levels. The barista apologized to us for the last comedian’s crass behaviour but by then the damage was done. Neither of us live close enough nor are interested in ever trying to go back. A real shame really.

This place is great. We went to use our Indie Coffee Passport and we were greeted with great service and incredible coffee. The vibe is super chill, very casual, not pretentious at all. Also, it smells fantastic. And again, the coffee is incredible.

3.5 star Sometimes people come to hang out at coffeeshops for various different reasons. For me not only because of the drinks, it is the vibe, the atmosphere and all these makes a good and enjoyable experience. Indie Coffee Passport was welcomed with a smile and I settled for a Capuccino with double shot. The milk froth is creamy and dense, remind me of what I make at home. I do love the interior space as the deco is just so homey and inviting. I was lucky to be there half a hour before closing and got the whole place to myself. Free WIFI just ask for the password but sadly cannot plug your laptop into the electric outlets. So my stay here will not be too long. Full of Beans is a great neighbourhood coffee shop and especially they are roasting their beans in house. Great if you want to get freshly roasted beans.

The staff is extremely friendly and usually able to help me out when it comes to buying the beans I want for home. Lots of different types of beans and they are roasted in house which not many places do in the west end. Americanos and espressos are great as well as all of the baked goods. This is our go to place for coffee and beans in the city. Also FYI they have KONA beans, but you need to call in and get them roasted to your liking.

I would argue that this café has the greatest diversity of furniture I have ever encounted in a store that isn’t Ikea. There were green club chairs, pink easy chairs, wood tables, a glass topped table, cast iron bistro-style tables, an old wood table that looked like a school desk, there was even a Goddamn LACK side table in here. At Full Of Beans, no two pieces of furniture are the same. Not that I’m complaining. There is definitely an enjoyable an serene vibe in this long and slender space on Dundas West. The quiet ambiance and bookshelves everywhere give the place a library quality, practically begging you to pick up something and read. The courtyard-facing windows deep in this shop allow some natural light to hit the back corners. It wasn’t very busy on my visit, and I imagine that’s because the word isn’t out yet. They’re also a coffeeshop too. The coffee is roasted here and you can tell by the inviting aroma. I scooped up an americano and one of their carrot muffins. Thumbs up to both. Double-plus good. As a place to work this place is so-so. They have WiFi and you will have to get the password at the front. They also requested that you don’t use their power — not that I saw any spare outlets — so don’t come here low on battery. For me, this seems like a great place to come without my laptop and with a new magazine. Minus one star for playing Jazz FM. Obligatory Title Pun: I’m spilling the BEANS on this joint. Menu Readability: The menu is above the cashier written sweetly in chalk. Need to mention: Minimum $ 5 for debit and $ 10 for credit cards. What this place teaches me about myself: I don’t just hate jazz. I. Hate. Jaaazzzzzzz… [Jazz hands]

Walking down Dundas St. W. today I came across a café I hadn’t seen before and the first thing I noticed, as I paused peering into the café, was this classic coffee roasting machine. Intrigued I looked up at the café’s name: Full of Beans. I remember hearing about this café a long time ago but somehow it slipped from my to-do list. Well, despite already being well caffeinated, no better time than the present to check out this establishment I say! Upon entering the café I made a quick bee line to the roaster. It was a beautiful example of classic coffee roasting technology made by the Jabez Burns company which is now Probat Burns. This roaster is still in very good functional use due to it’s time defying simplicity. After marveling at the machine for a few moments I started talking to the woman behind the counter(who I believe is one of or the sole owner) about the machine and she happily gave me a tour pointing out how it all works. The machine actually being a sample roaster(originally designed for small test batches of green coffee) the woman and I agreed it was the perfect café housed coffee roasting machine as it’s size meant that the coffee they roasted, used and sold would always be at optimum freshness. No roasting of obligatory large batches of coffee, as with a regular commercial roaster, that potentially would end up being bagged and sitting on shelves going stale. Even more advantageous is the fact that the café can easily roast to order, if you so desired, within about 20 minutes. So if there is a particular bean you want roasted to a certain degree of roast Full of Beans can accommodate. They have a good variety of regular coffee as well as espresso based drinks on offer and I was delighted to see one of my old favorites, Tanzanian Peaberry, ready made to be consumed right there and then. In addition to coffee they also had a number of snacks available at very reasonable prices from biscotti to muffins. The café’s interior is a classic of pale brick and warm wood tones. Structurally the café runs long and narrow with abundant seating for singles and couples. Plenty of nice interior touches that invite you to stay awhile, like a bookshelf with a sign that says«Take a book, leave a book.» The service is good, the coffee is excellent, the atmosphere inviting and I would definitely recommend coming here whether you are in the area or not. A must stop for coffee lovers.
