Elite Event At the Stirling Room

This place rocks. The service was great, the food was awesome, and the interior is well decorated and very classy. The best part of this club is the DJ. That guy can really put the place on its feet.
This was my first elite event, and now I can wait for the next one.

Definitely the best Elite event yet. The venue was great, the staff were great, and the food was delicious. You really couldn’t do much to make this night any better.
I liked the amount of people at the event. So many new Elites to finally meet in person and so many new faces in general. A bunch of cool people!

Phenomenal event at a phenomenal venue. I was shocked by the décor and ambience displayed by the Stirling Room, it was gorgeous. Met some great people and had plenty of good conversation. Unfortunately I was so stuffed from slaying Little India’s buffet for lunch the only thing I got to eat were ice cubes. Special shoutouts to DJ Agile, Rannie for taking pics, and the cute bartender dude at the back — Hana ;) LOL
Vivek has done it again.

The ambiance of the venue was definitely sexy. The variety in drinks and the cute bartender in the back room were a definite bonus. After I tried a (yes singular) sweet potato fry from Kent P’s lovely +1, I tried pretty hard to track them down, because they really were THAT good, sadly to no avail. The DJ definitely got me in the dancing mood with some old and some popular tunes. It was great to catch up with some very awesome Unilocalers and meet a few +1s, but definitely not as many as I would have liked.
All in all, this was one of the elite events I have had most fun at. Hats off to Vivek in his Unilocal-​red suspenders! :)

Love Stirling Julep… I can have a couple of them without even knowing… since it tasted so good… and BTW, honey does have numerous health benefit.
The music was nice and loud… talking to others in a dark room (cannot even see their name tags) with loud music and a few drinks does make people get closer… Sorry to anyone that I have invaded their personal spaces.

This place filled up super fast! Even before I was able to finish my first drink there was already line-​up all the way up the stairs for coat check and the bars were heavily populated. Definitely a really nice venue with good lighting, seating and nice overall ambience.
Having DJ Agile was a very nice touch. Not feeling the current Top 40 cuts but loved the classic hip-​hop and R&B (my bread and butter). Having someone manning the cuts really generates a necessary vibe for any social gathering — keeps the drinks flowing and feet moving.
Didn’t dig the fact that after the cut-​off point the same pilsner suddenly became $ 7.50 a bottle with no other drink options to be had. Drag. But it was nice to be at such a well-​attended event and see so many good-​looking girls! Hot damn.

Since I’m sick, I didn’t get to try the alcohol and since I have night class I missed the food, but… it looks like both were good times.
We didn’t end up staying too long because we were both starving for food… but for the next event I’ll be there right at opening!

RaWk solid fun! It was really good to see some new faces and this venue was amazing in many ways — great DJ, drinks, lounge area, and the overall moods was fun and relaxed. I’ve never been to the Distillery District in the winter, but this trip was well worth it. The photo booth was way cool :)
If this event sets the standard for the year we are probably going to triple the number of Unilocal members in Toronto ;-) Everyone will want one of those sparkly bouncy balls…

A fantastic event! I loved seeing everyone again and was happy about the drink selection.
A beautiful space for a party, and yes, the piano/​dj booth was pretty badass.
My throat today thinks that the music was a bit loud, though. But that’s probably because I’m too old.

I am so happy that you Unilocalers know how to party it up! I was running super late and got there at 8:45 and was terrified that the party would significantly die down at 9. Granted it did clear out a bit once the free drinks ended, the party did not die down by any means and by 11 it was still as fun as it was at 9!
I was lucky enough to be at coat check when 2 trays of hor d’ourves came out and the waiter highly recommended I fill myself up before he took them up and with no dinner in me, I was ecstatic with this opportunity and the fact that the crab cakes were heavenly just made everything so much better!
Got to the bar where my two «+1“s Susan G and Arman H had me covered on the drinks front and I lost count of how many glasses I drank in the first 15minutes! After that my night consisted of me holding 2 drinks for 80% of the time and one drink for 15% with just 5% devoted to drink-​less hands (most of which was spent in front of the photographer!)
I met a whole bunch of Unilocal friends and a larger number of +1s although I did miss on chances to catch up with everyone as much as I would have liked to.
Great atmosphere hot bartenders and hotter Unilocalers just made this night complete! Also, I’m now a proud owner of a «Yelp Bandana», great party, a lot better than I expected (and I did have high expectations) and thanks a lot Vivek for yet another amazing event!

Totally 5 star, possibly 6!
What an awesome party. It was a little packed earlier on, but by 9pm it was perfect. So many new faces, although I failed miserably at meeting many new people because I was so busy trying to catch up with the 50 awesome Unilocalers I am already familiar with!
What made this Elite party the best?!
1) Being able to share the coolness of Unilocal with three of my fellow ninja +1s
2) VODKA! Fuck yeah, that’s what I’m talking about!
3) DJ!!! Wow, this was the first Elite event I’ve been to with DJ and dancing. DJ should be mandatory for all Elite events! My throat still hurts from chanting out Bel Biv DeVoe, it was just like grade 7 all over again!
4) Venue was absolutely amazingly sexy
5) Photographer set up at the front — can’t WAIT to see some of those pics!

Quite a bit has already been written about these red legendary suspenders, so all I would like to suggest is for Unilocal HQ to start making some offish/​legit ones for the Unilocal store soon!
The Elite Event at Stirling Room was a definite blast. For one, it introduced me to this awesome space I’ll be visiting in the future. The bartenders were pouring with heavy hands and had they produced the quickest turnaround at any Unilocal event I have been to! That being said I’d like to take a moment to use my Neuralyzer to wipe everyone’s memory of Payam’s dark side that was witnessed after one too many shots & Juleps!
What else is there to be said? The good DJ, the awesome photogs, with a special mention for the booth int the corner, added an awesome edge. I didn’t get to taste to much of the food but that’s probably because I stuck to the less busy bar at the front for the entire night… I guess I made my choice!
Shout-​outs to Devan, Bijan, Vivek, Janna, Dishan, Hana, and respective crews for making the experience even more enjoyable! The Lauren-​Bijan pay-​per view match-​up will be postponed until the next event as far as I know, but you can start placing your bets as of now!
Anyways, amazing event from beginning to end. Kudos to Vivek and Unilocal staff for making this happen!

** Unilocalers & Family/​Friends most of all made this one most exciting ever.

I like people got creative with the expanded +1’age. You could plus up to 4! At first I found this a bit confusing. There was a lot of +1 chaff making it hard to find your elite pals you haven’t seen since November. But it was cool people brought family! Kudos to August for bringing her awesome mother. No amount of drinks could get her to divulge embarrassing tales of August circa grade 2. By «no amount of drinks» I mean she indulged in no drinks. Mel. C brought both her sisters. Who knew she had sisters? I also appreciated her up front warnings «KARL, ONE IS ENGAGED AND ONE IS MARRIED.» I talked to them regardless. Lauren brought 3 of some of the most beautiful women in Toronto. And Elaine brought two handsome guy friends that intimidated the fork out of me!
I also appreciated we had a larger venue and plenty of room to get around. I also like the emerging trend of having a signature cocktail at each event. And the beer this time was something I’d be happy to drink again.
Food was okay. It didn’t rival Fire on the Eastside. But it kept me happy.
Not sure what the regular crowd is at The Stirling Room but if it skews older it seems like a venue I might return to with some of my 30+ lady friends.

wow definitely had a great time. It was nice to finally meet my fellow Unilocalers and elites. And with Vivek as our community manager, I know there are many great times still ahead for 2011. It’s gonna be an epic year.

1) I liked our photographer and the almost mandatory ‘random asian group picture’
2) how the waiter with food came up for about 10 seconds and immediately went back down for the next round

Awesome event Vivek, and I was really pleased I got a chance to meet you all and your plus 1s, 2s and 3s. It was definitely a great crowd and great tunes! I loved the Stirling Julep — I never had one before, I love the Honey in the drink.
I loved the venue, it was the perfect place for a mix and mingle. It had plush black couches to sit with a smaller crowd, or stand in without being too squishy. The chandelier was really unique.
I guess my only complaint was the bright light in the front room and it was hard for me to talk to folks and face it. But I can’t complain too much, I loved the photographer and how we couldn’t be creative enough and probably ended up with many a fake family portrait.
What I did try of the food was great, except they all disappeared after getting up the stair well. The waiter had a really good attitude and was super friendly.
How was it that strong armed me into giving them a sticker?! Identify yourself! I hope you won!
Thanks for another great event, and I can’t wait for the next time!!! Just too bad my jet lag caught up to me and I had to leave early :(

Unilocal takes over the Stirling Room!
It was a full house with Unilocal Elites and friends. I had a wonderful time hanging out with everyone!
The venue was dark and a great space! Black décor and interesting artwork. Also, the music tonight was awesome! Top 40 favorites and some way-​back playbacks that always get the party going!
Juleps were delicious! Delicious enough to have like 5 of them.
The food was tasty, little sandwiches and deep fried patties.
You did have to position yourself strategically to catch the food coming out!
Also, I came to the realization that life needs more stickers! The ice breaker/​compliment sticker competition was a neat idea!
My only regret is not getting a Unilocal bouncy ball. =(
But, I did leave with a Unilocal balloon. Yay! =)

Is it just me or is Vivek like a fine wine and just get better with every new event he throws? This place was for serious. Two bars with a goth kinda feel and plenty of room.
Oh… and for everyone wondering what this tiny grand piano DJ was… well… it was exactly that. I think I may go into the tiny lit up grand piano business because it was so bad ass. Did I also mention that the DJ was also amazing? Great tunes spinning all night long.
Food was amazing (even though some of it was off the floor… *cough*). It was pretty funny to see how far the waiter guy got before he got surrounded by vultures (ie. us). The best thing there were definitely the mini crab croquettes. So good…
Best thing of the night? Honey Juleps… OMG, I’m pretty sure honey in all mix drinks is amazing.
Great to see everyone again and great to meet all the new people to Unilocal.
PS. I’d like to thank all my supporters for the compliment competition. It was a strong competition all the way up to the end and I could not have done it without all your help. You’re all in my hearts and I will be sure to work hard for you next time.

I didn’t get a chance to sample the food, but the grapefruit and honey drink I had was pretty good! Bonus points for the creativity! All the staff at The Stirling Room were very nice and helpful. Bonus points awarded to the cute bartender in the back room.
The DJ was kind enough to play my requests of Bell Biv DeVoe and Salt n Pepa!
All in all a very fun night! Way to go for hump day parties!!!
