Blo Blow Dry Bar

This place is amazing ! My best friend lives in Yorkville and always comes here to get blow outs and also up-​do buns.
I was referred to go to her favorite, Kenlyn (hoping the spelling is correct). I went in with an idea for an up-​do bun and she nailed it! I wanted the bun to be a little more softer instead of slick back and straight. She did an amazing job and would love to have her here in south Florida for my future blow outs/​up-​dos. She was fast and knew what she was doing and I received so many compliments !

I love having a blow out as much as the next girl. I’ve been meaning to try a Blo location for a while. I decided at 11:30pm on a Thursday that the next morning at 7:30am would be a great time. Especially since I have class at 9am at Ryerson. Sure enough, there was availability and I could book that early with an appointment. Ben, my stylist, was super friendly and we had pleasant chatter. Once the hair dryer was going, that became a challenge. But it wasn’t an awkward silence as I killed time on my phone.
The results were great! My hair looked HOT. Almost too hot for daytime but I have a big personality, so I can pull it off. My ‘Bloer’ was quick. He took me in immediately since I was about 5 – 10 minutes early. The wash was skilled! I loved the smell of the products as well!
Sure enough, I was done with 10 minutes to spare and strutted out to conquer my day!

I’ve been to one other Blo location before (Yonge/​Eglinton), this one was comparable and I was happy with how my hair turned out. I got a regular blowout ($ 35) and asked them to do some loose curls using a flatiron. They didn’t use too much product, which I liked, and it ended up holding for a full day — which is a feat given my thick and stick straight hair.
This location is quite small, so it’s a little crammed. If you have to wait, you end up sitting at the back in a corner. But otherwise, the service was good. I didn’t find the stylist particularly chatty, but that was fine with me. They do want to make sure you are happy with the results. The girl next to me had them re-​do her bun several times! Her stylist kept adjusting it and finally she had the manager take it all out and do it all over again. I felt so bad for them because it didn’t even look bad to begin with… But nobody lost their cool and they patiently tried over and over until the customer was satisfied.
It was their 1 year anniversary when I was there and they had free mini cupcakes and italian sodas, plus little gift bags. It was August 10, in case you want to try next year;)

I went here a while back, to have my hair done for my birthday. First, the place is minuscule. So tiny. There was no place for me to wait for my appointment. Second, I had made an appointment and yet was seen almost half an hour late — which is unacceptable when you have other appointments to get to, so I ended up being late for my make-​up appointment. The reason I was seen late? They let a walk-​in go ahead before me. Now, it’s nice that they take walk-​ins, but they need to account for the appointments they have booked when allowing someone to be seen without an appointment.
There was no water or anything, and I was dying the whole time. The whole thing just felt uncomfortable. They have you pick from a few looks, but the looks are basically as straightforward as a ponytail. It ended up being boring and something I could have just done myself. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I have been to four Blo locations, this one twice. My first experience here was only so-​so, but this last visit was excellent!
I was defending my PhD that day and wanted to feel at my best. I booked the appointment online which was very convenient. This Yorkville studio is better than the Four Seasons as it is far less cramped.
My appointment started right on time and the lovely woman who did my hair was pleasant and didn’t cut any corners on the service (I have had that happen on occasion here).
My ‘do’ was done at 10 am and I celebrated until two o’clock in the morning with hair in tact the whole time! Thanks so much :)

The stylists were friendly however I got a bruise on my head from their washing station… very uncomfortable! It would also be beneficial if they would have more pictures of the signature styles available, or if the stylists were a bit more up-​to-​date on current trends. Overall, Blo gets a meh from me.

I went to a wedding on Sunday at the Four Seasons Hotel. I was looking for a place to get my hair done and was struggling to find a hair salon that was actually open on a Sunday, and that wasn’t already full for appointments. I searched on Unilocal and found Blo, which amazingly enough is located in the Four Seasons, but was nervous to read the reviews which aren’t all that amazing.
I decided to risk it, and was really happy with the result. It’s a very small space, but the four women working there were all super nice and friendly, offering me drinks and making nice small-​talk while I waited.
My hairstylist asked me questions and was genuinely nice. After washing my hair, she took a few minutes to go over what I wanted with my hair, and showed me pictures of different options she thought would be best for my hair. I decided on loose curls and within 25 minutes my hair was done! It looked great, I got a ton of compliments, and it stayed put all night.
Things I like:
— Everyone working at Blo was really friendly and nice
— My stylist took the time to talk to me before rushing into anything with my hair
— She kept asking me how I liked things throughout the process, to make sure I was happy
— it was a quick easy process– in 35 minutes I got amazing curls that didn’t look like fake, old-​school wedding hair
Things I didn’t like so much:
— The Four Seasons location of Blo is a «mini-​bar» so it’s TINY with only enough room for 3 people to sit down, and one station for hair washing. If they had made me wait, I definitely would have felt claustrophobic
Overall it was a great experience, and I would definitely go back!

I usually favor the dissheveled rolled out of Bed-​Head look and am pretty low key when it comes to hair care. So when I feel the urge to get proper coiffed & «jujjed» Blo Blow Dry Bar is pretty good for a quick last minute blow job. Blo has become the hair salon equivalent to Starbucks as there seems to be one popping up everywhere… but I think that’s a great thing as sometimes it’s hard to secure an appointment last minute at some salons and what better way to feel instantly fluffed (okay the oral references stop here!) than with a blow dry!
This location is Chihuahua sized and resides inside the Four Seasons, so you automatically feel that much more swish for getting your hair done, even if it only costs $ 35 bucks. The roster of stylists is constantly changing, so if you find a good one make sure you keep tabs on them as they tend to move stylists around between the many Blo locations. Out of the five or so times I’ve visited only once did I leave unsatisfied but I figured the stylist I was assigned was a trainee who needed the practice… btw she gave me corkscrew curls and made me look like the Asian understudy for an Off-​Off Broadway version of Annie and besides it rained that day so my hair became the messy waves that I really wanted.
