Turf Hotel

i lived in this area for years and saw and tasted the turf’s restaurant’s food from many different owners & chefs, and it has been a roller-​coaster of quality. this time, (and hopefully the last and final owners), the restaurant is run by a lovely and friendly Chinese couple. the reason i stated their ethnicity is because they have brought their experience and flavor for home-​style Canadian/​Chinese cuisine to every dish they prepare.
The food is HOME-​COOKED. be it the Chinese food or the comfort food. this restaurant makes me think of the small-​town dinners /​truck stop where food is plentiful and savoy. if you remember those kinds of down to earth restaurants and liked them then this is worth it.
i recommend the Salisbury steak… O.K. it is in the menu as a Salisbury steak but there is no tomato sauce… so it is really an AMAZING hamburger steak! –it is served with fresh steamed veggies, a mountain of real mashed potatoes
and a gravy that has perfect Constancy, (not to thick and gluttonous but also not runny, where it drowns the plate) and on the think grilled hamburger steak is sauteed mushrooms and onions… ummmm… just thinking about it makes me wanna go again, right now!
as well, they turn out a respectable breakfast. –fast, clean and affordable… now if you are really hungry, try the BIG MAN’S BREAKFAST. perfect way to start the day.
and once again, the couple are so nice. they know and understand the meaning of customer service. or they are just really really nice people! big smile, right amount of conversation and they always remember you and welcome you back. TRULY WONDERFUL
