Sushi & Roll is comparable to Sushi Garden, where their combos and spicy(tuna & salmon) are identical to each other. We ordered the Alaska roll, volcano roll, salmon and tuna sashimi, seared salmon nigiri, and the assorted sushi combo. The seared salmon nigiri was the highlight, because the nutty flavor from the salmon paired with the mayo sauce was a-okay. Portions are decent but the quality is sub par. This place is under staffed; therefore the service is not good. While the price is fair for what you get, the quality is just not worth going back again.

A friend from work had told me about this spot so, on a recent trip to Surrey, we decided to stop in for lunch. I have to admit, when I noticed they still had their Christmas decorations(including a tree) up I started to have second thoughts. But the place was full(and we were hungry) so we decided to go ahead and get seated — a process which involved our hostess literally pointing to our table, tossing our menus on it, and walking away. Oh well, it wouldn’t be the first Vancouver sushi place with perfunctory service — sometimes I’ve even wondered if it’s a requirement! Our waitress arrived soon and poured tea, then took our order: salmon sashimi for my daughter, and a big plate of assorted sashimi and a burning cheese roll for us to share. The miso soup arrived quickly and was just ok — it lacked the richness in the broth of others I’ve tried. A few minutes later the salmon sashimi arrived. The pieces were huge and the fish tasted very fresh. This was a definite hit with my salmon-loving girl! And then… the wait began. We waited. And we waited some more. Almost twenty long minutes later our other items arrived. By this time my daughter had almost finished her lunch. Our 24 pieces of fresh, beautiful sashimi included toro, salmon, hamachi, snapper, surf clam, sweet shrimp, octopus, and mackerel. There wasn’t a bad bite in the bunch, and it was a good deal at $ 20. The roll was not my favorite — it’s always interesting to try a restaurant’s «signature» item, but the spicy tuna in this one was borderline fishy and did not pair well with the cream cheese. When we were done another wait began, this time for our bill. Eventually we just walked up to the counter and asked. If this place could get on top of their service issues it would be worth a solid four stars. Oh, and please take down the Christmas decorations!

ABSOLUTELYHORRIBLE! Went there for lunch with a friend. Waited 30 minutes before a waitress even approached us. Another 20 for our drinks and ordering then came back 3 times with the wrong order. Finally just left after complaining to the girl working the till. She just smiled and said will talk to waitress. Will never return.

We just keep on coming back to this Sushi Place. Food is really good but sometimes there is a line up to get in. But it is worth the wait.

This is my go to spot for Japanese food. Their food quality is amazing and the prices are great. I have never been let down by the taste of anything I’ve ordered here. The food is consistently good which is rare to find nowadays. I docked one star due to their lack of service. Sometimes the servers take FOREVER to notice you when your hand is up. Today for example my hand was up in the air for over 5 minutes before I was even noticed. I docked another star due to the fact cooked food takes forever to arrive. Since I know what I want to order, I always order my cooked food the moment I sit down. This way it arrives around the time the rest of my group’s food comes.

If you want mass produced sushi without much care or flavour come here. The prices are pretty cheap. We came today because my favourite place Sushi Well was closed for the holiday… It was pretty busy today, but the staff seemed so focused on take out they missed part of my order. When I told them I was waiting for one more roll after waiting about 50 minutes They walked away and never asked what it was that was missing??? Wtf? Have eaten here maybe 10 times and the service is usually passable. Pathetic today. I don’t usually review unless it’s really bad or really good. Dear Sushi and Roll, It was really bad today! Yours truly, Never coming back…

My friend and I decided to stop by for a quick bite to eat after our study session. I personally love sushi and can never get sick of it. This is a nice sushi restaurant run by a Korean family. It reminds me of Sushi Garden in Burnaby. We were seated immediately even though it was dinner time and the place was quite busy. We ordered quite a bit of food for two people and had a lot of leftovers. The Alaska roll is really good here. Spicy salmon sashimi hit the spot, was a bit on the Spicer side but we washed it down with a few glasses of ice water. We also ordered the burning cheese roll out of curiosity and it was interesting. The burning cheese roll had spicy tuna in it along with some cream cheese and then it was deep fried and garnished with some kind of sauce. It was good but probably wouldn’t order it again. My friend was happy with her California roll as that’s the staple roll that always needs to be ordered. All the salmon or tuna for the raw rolls was fresh and the portions were a good size. Was not disappointed at all with this little sushi place. The prices were decent not overly priced. Our cups of tea were refilled promptly. One of the servers was multi tasking quite a bit felt bad that she was basically the only one running the show in the dinning room. Give this place a try you won’t be disappointed

I normally never go to Surrey but a friend frequents this place and often rave about the quality of the food. I was naturally hyped to visit. Ordered the cheezy roll, awesome roll, various nigiri and sampled a bit of the spicy salmon sashimi from my friend. I was disappointed. Everything was just average. Maybe I didn’t order the bestsellers. Or maybe it was just the night. The food wasn’t amazing, staff weren’t all too friendly, and décor isn’t all that special. Mediocre, really.

I discovered this place recently and I am very satisfied with their service and food. The service is friendly and prompt. One of the servers was really friendly, attentive with smiles all the time. The food is fresh, tasty and big portions at a cheap price. I added to my favorite restaurants and will be back!

This is cheap but really good sushi. I can’t believe we ate so much and still have some leftovers and only paid $ 47! My favourite is the seared salmon nigiri. Only 50 cents per piece. I also love the Mangodise Roll although it comes with just a mango sauce it is still refreshing to the taste. I also like the chicken karaage. I know it’s deep fried and really bad for you but this one is really tasty. I love the hint of ginger in the karaage. I tried the PUCK. I don’t know what it stands for but this is spicy tuna and crab meat deep fried with tobiko on top. What can I say?! I love deep fried. This dish reminds me of rellenong bangus(fried stuffed milk fish) that my mom used to make in the Philippines. So good! The place is very clean and the servers are friendly. I would definitely come back and would recommend to friends and families.

Went to Sushi & Roll while I was home again and I was pleasantly surprised by the restaurant. The service was way better, a server kept coming around with water and tea which is a nice change. The food did take a while as usual but it was great so I can’t complain. They have a new menu, with new dishes, the only negative thing I can say about the place is that they raised the prices slightly for some dishes and that they are now are charging for extra sauces. This is still one of my favorite sushi joints.

This place is now my new replacement for Nagoya, and let me explain why. My friend and I were craving sushi like crazy when we decided to go to Sushi and Roll. When we stepped in, it was really busy, but because one of the employees was so organized we only waited about 10 minutes for our table. Once we were seated our server came right away and gave us a really friendly greeting and took our order. I ordered the spicy tuna roll(my favourite roll to get), the burning cheese roll(speciality roll), ebi sunomono, and miso soup. My friend ordered a Ramen, miso soup and a fantastic roll(speciality). The waitress said it will be a bit longer than usual for our food because of what we ordered and because it was packed, which we understood. We weren’t in a rush anyways. But, surprisingly it wasn’t even that long until we got out food. For the miso soup: it was a big portion, bigger than what I usually get at other restaurants but, I was a little disappointed by the flavour. It wasn’t a bold and amazing like other places I’ve been to. My ebi sunomono was also a let down dude to the flavouring, but I was impressed with what they garnished it with. They put 3 big slices of shrimp(as usual), thinly sliced radish, cucumber, thinly sliced carrots and a slice of lemon. The spicy tuna was amazing! It was very spicy which is how I love my spicy tuna. Now to the life changing sushi. The burning roll sushi was AMAZING! And has become my new favourite speciality roll.(It use to be nagyoa’s SAC roll). It was a deep fried spicy tuna roll with cream cheese and the most amazing sauce! When it are the last roll I was disappointed because I wanted more and wish I was able to eat more. But the portions were so good that I was full. My friend’s Ramen. The server said it was good enough for one person but the serving looked big enough for 2 people. I was very impressed by one of the servers. She seemed to be in charge of the floor. If not I HIGHY recommend for the owner to promote and give her a raise. She has amazing customer service! I can’t wait until the next time I come back to Sushi and roll. :)

Now I can see what the fuss is all about… and it’s not just because it’s out in Surrey either. Probably the 2nd best sushi place that I’ve been to in the past year or so. Tried their famous Rabbit roll, a souped-up Cali roll with unagi & chopped scallions is a winner. Nice touch with Miso soup, hey, it’s not a bento box lol. friendly service. Looking forward to their new Port Moody location, from what the gorgeous server mentioned ;)

I found the food very well priced, but there was temperature control issues when I ate here. It seems like many items were already made in advance to be served. This was particularly so for the bento box. The chicken teriyaki was cold and the rice was also borderline cool/cold. The sushi rice was also cold. Miso soup was lukewarm. Service was fast. For anyone in a hurry, this is a great place to go eat. I prefer a balance between service, quality and price. I am not coming back anytime soon because of the cold food. I personally would pay more for my food to be served pipping hot.

This is easily the best Sushi place in North Surrey. I wasn’t a fan of their Udon noodle bowl, the chicken comes breaded and it turns into much in the soup. The rolls however, are fantastic. This place gets slammed at lunch, so arrive early!

Sushi & Roll is a-okay. Huge place with tons of seating! Still though, it fills up FAST during dinner, so if you have a group of more than 4 people, you’d best call ahead. I don’t find the premium/speciality rolls to be anything super… Special. I don’t think I’ve ever had a roll here that shook me to my core. But nothing has been BAD either. It’s just good— reliably good :) The parking lot outside is a bonus, for sure… As is its proximity to Surrey Central Stn.

This place is pretty busy and packed whenever I would eat here but I would definitely be willing to stand in line to be seated. I always get Salmon Sashimi which is my ultimate fave next to Salmon Nigiri(notice a trend here?). The pricing is affordable for the delicious food you get. Servers were attentive and the sushi chefs were very friendly and welcoming. I’ve eaten here a number of times and I’ve yet to try the seared salmon! The volcano roll was amazing and not overly spicy for my taste. I’ve also had their takoyaki and it was perfectly cooked and wasn’t mushy at all. The salmon sashimi was generously sliced and was deliciously fresh! In their kitchen you’ll see that they skin the salmon themselves and tons of huge fresh salmon are waiting to be cut at the sushi station. People must really love their salmon here as well! I would definitely keep coming back and try more of what they have to offer!
