Sushi Zen

We get take out from here very regularly and love it! They’re closed on Sunday’s and Monday’s so once in a while we get sushi elsewhere and are always disappointed… nothing compares to Sushi Zen!

Came all the way from Richmond to try. Very good customer service and the price is very reasonable. Delicious food.

I found this restaurant better that I thought it would be! Very clean and friendly.
The portions were plentiful and the quality very good. I ordered a dynamite roll and it came quite large. I find this a pet peeve of sushi restaurants in general. If the rolls are rolled too large they are hard to eat and fall apart on the way to your mouth. I would rather less fake crab filler and a more manageable roll.
Also, my one complaint was the sushi chef yelling at his staff. There was the requisite soft Japanese singing music in the background and the restaurant was not busy yet the chef felt the need to bellow to his staff. It really turned me off.
I would go back but probably only for take out.

I was checking on the reviews and kinda was expecting some fresh sashimi with a decent price, but the chirashi don I ordered, salmon and tuna are nice, the scallop is not fresh. I enjoyed the sunomono and one of the specialty roll we ordered. I also ordered one piece of toro nigiri. The portion of the toro is quite generous but still, not fresh. Overall, the rice is decent and rolls are decent, just not fresh enough. Or did I pick a wrong day of the week to visit?

Cheap, fresh sushi and friendly service!
I’ve been a here a couple of times and my experiences have mostly been in the postives.
The chefs are quite friendly as well as servers, although once the server had disappeared for quite an unusually long amount of time when I needed to pay the bill and I ended up having the chef help me out instead.
I usually get the $ 25 house tray which comes with various amounts of sushi. All delicious. I would definitely recommend the Las Vegas roll. It is to DIE for!

This Small and very friendly Resto have very hardworking and friendly staff consistently who even treat guests to snacks on the house at times!
Their menu is filled with many tasty and creative rolls in combination with savoury hot dishes. Best of all this Resto keeps reasonably fair prices $
I wasn’t looking for a new sushi spot since Sushi & Roll opened, however very happy with this gem of a sushi Resto, forget the sketchy area and enjoy this amazing sushi restaurant !

Everything here is delicious. I’ll usually go out here with a couple of friends and share some special rolls. Sometimes I’ll order a salmon don for giggles. But yo, the stuff here is so good. Like, even the edamame here is good. They bring it to you all steamed and salted and it’s like, fresh as ever. Their iconic roll is called the Zen roll. It’s basically a deep fried California roll with delicious sweet sauce drizzled on top. It’s better than most deep fried California I’ve had at other places. It seems like most people order that, and if not, you still get 4 complimentary pieces during your meal, which is cool. The prices here are way better than most places. Comparable, if not, cheaper than most. The portions are pretty big too. You get like, 8 – 10 pieces depending on what you order. The pieces itself are massive. The staff is pretty friendly too. But yeah, would definitely go back there. ¹⁰⁄₁₀.

Sushi Zen! My friend raved about this small sushi place for a while and took me when I came to visit. The owner is super nice and greeted us with a shout when we walked in. Ok — so my buddy is a regular and comes at least once a week, so MAYBE that makes a difference — but I wouldn’t know. We ordered a couple of rolls (I’m not sure of the names bc my friend already knew what he wanted, but I vaguely remember Tataki roll) and some nigiri sushi. While we were waiting for our food, they gave us some complimentary zen rolls (deep fried california rolls with a slightly spicy sauce), which were a tasty appetizer. I thought the fish was really fresh, and reasonably priced too. Definitely recommended!

Meh after trying few other things I changed my rating to ⁵⁄₁₀. I still don’t forgive the taste that I got last time Its food is hit or miss. The price is okay I guess. So overall it’s pretty average.

I recently moved to the area and I have a (not so) secret obsession with sushi so I knew I’d have to find me a decent sushi restaurant to frequent.
I was so pleasantly surprised by Sushi Zen and have been several times. The food is fresh and delicious. Often we get a free sample (last time was a couple pieces of the Zen Roll — a do not miss from the menu).
The only reason for ⁴⁄₅ instead of ⁵⁄₅ is the service: sometimes a bit slow.
Overall a very decent place to get affordable and yummy sushi! I’m going back tonight. :)

I love this place! The staff are friendly and their food tastes great. I highly recommend the Zen Roll. There prices are decent and the quality of the food in fantastic.
