Very nice restaurant and very nice staff I had few items from the menu and all were excellent. Espaciallay the currey prawn pineapple. I hope all businesses in the area follow this restaurant’s steps because it’s the best.

Just had dinner here a few hours ago with the family. We drove all the way here from East Vancouver in the pouring rain. Was it worth it? Most definitely! The restaurant is still pretty new… You can tell by the smell of paint and construction. We arrived at 6pm and for some reason the place was empty. As we left at 7, there was only 1 more patron that dined in. Kinda odd on a Saturday night during peak period. Maybe it was the rain? Anyways, we ordered 2 roti canai,(3 in total since my daughter loves the stuff) an order of chicken satay, curry laksa and nasi goreng.(But mie goreng came out instead) Everything tasted great but I just wished the server/owner? wrote down our order so we would have had our nasi goreng. Kinda felt bad if we sent back the noodles since it was so empty in the restaurant. We ended up eating it and it was pretty good. Almost reminded me of pad thai but with yellow noodles instead. I would have given them 4 stars but the mistaken order was a bummer. We will be back. Thank you for the wonderful dinner.

Really good food. Good décor and good service. We loved everything that we ordered, however the Goan fish curry was to die for.

Fantastic. Absolutely delicious me goreng. Staying in an Air-bnb house about a .5 mile away… many options nearby that are all… ho-hum. Stumbled on this place… and simply wowed. I’m visiting the Vancouver area for just a week, but likely will eat here again before I head back to the states.

Manis is awesome to have next door for those nights when me and my husband both don’t feel like cooking. The service is fast and friendly and the dishes we’ve tried have all been good. I like the fact that they have chicken spring rolls on the menu, since most places only have veggie or pork. The Tom Yum Noodles are my favorite, the stir fried noodles are so full of flavor. And of course the Singapore Laksa is perfect for the days when your not feeling good and you just want something warm and soupy in your tummy. Only downside is prices are a bit high for the portion size.

I honestly can’t bring myself to give anything higher than 2 stars– and that extra star is for the chicken satay. We got the Singaporean Laksa, beef Nasi Lemak, and chicken satay. As mentioned above, the satay was good, but the other two dishes were just, bad. Bad as in the flavours were very one-dimensional; very faint-if any– flavours if spices. Trust me, coming from a Malaysian background, I know what I’m talking about. The prices weren’t that great either.

We normally frequent Penang Delight for our Malaysian fix, but we happen to be around Surrey and found this place on the Unilocal radar. Best decision we made in Surrey! Don’t let the Victorian like interior fool you because the food really packs a punch. We got Nasi Lemak and special of the day was Murtabak. The chicken was phenomenal we couldn’t leave without asking what was the recipe. They made the sound decision of being very cryptic about the recipe. If anyone ever figures out how they do it, please message us and save us the many trips to Surrey!

The people who work here are the nicest people you could meet. The food is delicious, and I will be a repeat customer! There are many options on the menu that I want to try. This time, I had the fish of the day, which came with a chutney on top and rice on the side. It was fabulous. At first, I thought the portion was small but it turned out to be the perfect portion — I’m obviously used to eating way too much in one sitting! It’s a convenient location, in a neighborhood that is rebuilding and trying to be up and coming. We’ll be back!

We normally go to malaysian hut on 108th and 148th but thought we would try somewhere else today. While the price is comparable to malaysian hut, the portions were smaller/individual here. Don’t get me wrong though, the Laksa and the Beef Rendeng was extremely delicious. But one of my favorite parts of eating malay food is eating the leftovers at home later that day. I still give it 4 stars though because the food was delicious.

After reading a review that the owners were from Edmonton and owned Matahari, I had to pay this restaurant a visit. I used to frequent their Edmonton restaurant when I was in town. Food was amazing just as I remembered it. We enjoyed the yellow curry and roti, mee goreng and deep fried banana with coconut gelato. Their menu consists of dishes from different Asian countries. I do miss the ambiance of Matahari with the koi swimming in a pond inside the restaurant and the booth seating. The ambiance of Manis is cosy and inviting. Service was great! Food arrived fast. I enjoyed a lovely chat with the owner as well. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for some tasty Asian food.

I eat here just for that alone. But there so much more here. Laksa soup /Roti canai/a red snapper curry on rice and a great Chicken Nash Lemak .Too top it off You get the warm inviting host /owners who are simply lovely and truly care for your Dinning experience.

Very tasty clean food prepared with expertise. A mound of fluffy coconut rice was surrounded by the chicken nasi lemak, roasted peanuts, anchovi sambal on cucumber and pickled veggies. Plenty of flavors make for an enjoyable meal. $ 12.95 House tea comes in a pot for only $ 1 I’ll be back.

Only visited a few times but the food has been great each time. The owner is a lovely lady and an animal lover which is important to me. The service is great and over time as the area becomes more popular and cleaner, This place will be über busy. Great stuff!

This excellent restaurant, while new to Surrey, was in Edmonton many years before relocating. We have been many times, and recently had an opportunity to visit again while in the Vancouver area. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful, not to mention excellent chefs. We always enjoy the mango salad and fish curry. The deep fried bananas make a delicious dessert. The kids love the roti and chicken skewers. Actually everything we have had was excellent. When they were in Edmonton, Manis(known there as Matahari) had a loyal following of customers. Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!

We’ve recently moved into the unit while our new home is being built and noticed this restaurant being built and finally opened. I had a long day at work and my brother wasn’t feeling well and wanted soup, so I decided to order from Manis because we saw the flyer in the hallway and see how it is. The roti Canai is delicious! The vegetable curry you use to dip is delish! The wontons are stuffed well and delicious but main issue was too much sesame oil in the soup which made it a bit oily tasting, but still 4⁄5! My neighbour said the lunch specials are decent so I plan to try with my family soon! The owner and waitress is super nice and polite. Will be back!

Service is terrific — warm, friendly, and welcoming. Just had 1) the shrimp mango rice wrap — very fresh and tasty — and 2) the Nepalese lamb — also tasty, piping hot off the stove, generous portions and they accommodated my preference for spice level perfectly. And FINALLY a fun, classy place in Whalley where I can relax after work or take clients to.

Good eat with friendly service and nice décor. I’m a fan of Malaysian food so it’s also good to have an extra place to choose from. They have a nice variety of delicious food with good portions, nice presentations and reasonably priced. Give it a try.
