I am basing this review in comparison to my experience at Sephora, which is my most recent review on here. I’ll sum it up here: Wednesday morning, 11ish, low traffic in the store, zero help after 10 – 15 minutes. I go into Mac: greeted instantly, asked if I need help with the lipsticks I am looking at, get the colour I want, and am asked if I need help with anything else. I asked about foundation and concealer, and the woman asked about my skin type/concerns, whether I wanted a matte or glowy finish, etc. Tried a few products, found the right type for me. I did have to wait a bit as the store got busy and she had to help others but she checked in an apologized at least twice. I have no problem with waiting as long as they’re doing their job and helping others, not standing around looking like they don’t want to be there. I am very happy with my purchases and how I was treated. I’ve been in a couple times before and sometimes the staff seem slightly stand off-ish/snooty. I have noticed that in makeup stores though; I’m not trying to be biased or judgmental, but it’s a pattern I’ve noticed. Regardless, I haven’t had any horrible experiences at this Mac, or any other Mac for that matter. Their customer service has always been pleasant and proficient. Avoid coming on a weekend though; Guildford is chaotic on weekends, especially Saturdays.

This review is on a staff member not the whole store. I want into Mac on Friday December 5th @ 11am to get my makeup done. I had made an appointment a few days prior. They charge a $ 55.00 dollar fee and you get to sit in a littler personal room as you get it done. Way better then a walk in cause it can get busy and loud. I was 5 min early to be polite. As I waited at the front desk I wasn’t greeted right away. Finally a women told me she would be right with me. Then another girl ask if she could quickly help me. I could see she was with another customer so I told her just getting my makeup done. She was very friendly(which is a rare occurrence at this store) and put me in the little room to get comfortable. She came back in not even a min later very upbeat and asked me what I wanted to do. I told her I wanted a Smokey eye with glitter, lashes and full face coverage. I have seen other girls get their makeup done at Mac and it turn out horrible. Well it was my Lucky day. The girl who was friendly and nice to talk to did an Amazing job. I was so happy with my look after. She even fixed a little mess up before I left that I didn’t even see till she pointed it out. I will definitely go back to her to get my makeup done. Her name was Kamisla(hope I spelled it right)

I went in a few weeks ago to show what happened to a bronzer powder that I purchased. I had only used the powder a few times and it became solid and un-usable. When I went in, I asked a staff member how I can fix the powder so I can use it again and the lady just plain out was like«nope! You can’t fix it cuz its done. Its time to buy a new one» so loudly that the other customers in the store were all looking us. I was dumbfounded and felt like she treated me like a retard! I walked out but ten seconds later, I went back in and she was already gossiping to another staff member about me. Real nice, eh! I used to love using MAC products but I now am reluctant to use them because of how I was treated in their Guilford store. On a plus side, when I phoned MAC head office to let them know how I was treated, they took my complaint very seriously and even sent me a new bronzer powder to replace the hokey one that didn’t work. With new cosmetic stores in the mall such as Sephora and Funk N Frost, I don’t really need to shop at MAC anymore.
