The books may be good in this store but children — the next generation of readers — are NOT welcome! We’ve been to Stratford every year for years and each time a man(the owner?) watches our children(11 and 8 this year) like a hawk. I will say that they are very well-behaved children, and all they do is check out books like anyone else in the shop and putt them right back in their search for one book each that they are allowed to purchase. Surely that’s not something to be fearful of. The man glowers at our children every year. We decided to give it one last try this summer — to find the same behavior present. It’s almost funny but isn’t. Not supporting children who wish to read is bad news. A great disappointment.

This shop pretty much makes the trip to Stratford worthwhile(in addition to the theatre, of course). We spent almost an hour here, first browsing the sale section outside, which lured us into the store itself. Great finds include recent bestsellers, seminal works by influential authors, and an extensive collection of pop fiction — all for $ 8 or less in the sale section.
