My husband went to this store to pick up some Halibut filets for dinner yesterday May 14, 2015. I am in my third Trimester of pregnancy and was craving them. He grabbed 3 packages that came to a total of just over $ 30. When we got home I opened the packages to discover the fish still had its skin on(not a big deal) both my husband and I went to culinary school so this is an easy fix for us. While I was removing the skin on the fish filet I found a WORM in the meat under the skin. I phoned the store to let them know and to get a reimbursement for the $ 30. The lady took down our information and said the manager would call us back. It has been over 24hrs and we have not received a call back so I can only assume they do not care about WORMS in their fish. We had originally driven out of our way to go here as we live in Fort Saskatchewan but from now on we won’t be going back.

Besides this place being a convenient stop for groceries I am quit impressed with the layout and selection of goods they offer. Their shop local attitude is fabulous and I try to purchase locally grown produce when ever I can. Great selection and decent prices. What I love is their app. I no longer have to carry a save on card it’s on my phone and easy to scan. Plus the app has some other cool features for grocery buying.

This is my new home grocery store… It’s really confusing because it has the exact same layout as my previous save on foods except opposite. The parking lot for this store seems like an afterthought. You enter heading west off Lakeland or behind the store on cloverbar. The parking lot is a mess, you have to drive through really awkward intersections or around terribly placed barriers in order to get in. It’s not safe for cars or people. This grocery store has energy saving lights in the coolers that shut off if no one is there, but sometimes they are a little slow to activate. I like my food lit up all the time. Especially with led light technology for energy savings, I could go without the motion sensor technology. This store is less busy than most in the park thanks to emerald hills only a few blocks away and aspen trails being currently under construction… Enjoy it while it lasts.

Great bakery staff but cashier #3 today was rude and had attitude. Not sure I want to return to this Save-On location. Manager said he would speak with her. I must say he was very apologetic for his employees rudeness. This in itself speaks volumes. I will be giving them a second chance at some point to see if things have changed. This is not my regular Save-On so not sure when that will be.

I’m a bit leery about writing a review on this Save On. You see, when it first opened, no one knew about it. I went in the day before Christmas and it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. Now, I am all for businesses doing well and making money, but a grocery store where you don’t have to jostle your way around, weaving in between screaming toddlers and sulky adolescents? Now THAT is something not to write a review about. Although it has gotten quite a bit busier since it opened, I still find that it is not near as busy as some of the other stores in town. So back away and get your own grocery store.
