What a lovely grocery store. Bright, clean, wide aisles, self checkout and good selections. The downside… OMG is it expensive. Even sales items are more expensive then the competition. I suspect the only people who shop here are either; –Stupid –Lazy –Don’t have a car –So rich they don’t give a crap Safeway has recently introduced a new price cutting promotion campaign… it’s not working.

Can you give no stars for a store? This is the saddest Safeway I have ever been to. The checkout staff here is awful: surly, entrenched and unhelpful. The situation hasn’t changed in the five years we’ve lived here. Depressing that this is our local store. Luckily there is a bright, friendly Save On quite close — worth the trek to.

One of my favourite safeways in richmond, though there isn’t much is there lol Not in a high profile area, so lots of parking… spacious, recent renos in past 4 yrs or so compared to that old crappy one by Williams Road. After that Blundell Pizza pickup, one needed to wash it down w/some cold, Coke Zero, possibly the best non-sugar cola on the market, and this is the place to be. If i had gone to a 7/11, i would’ve picked up a one liter or so and drank it all. At safeway, i can only buy the refrigerated 710ml size lol.

Of course, like all of you, I hate hipsters so much. This causes all kinds of problems if you like brunch(which I do), so I resigned myself to making my own scrambles. But I live on Main Street! I couldn’t risk going into Buy Low, and I was stumped until in a fit of inspiration I thought to drive to Richmond, to this Safeway. It was amazing! Everything was priced just high enough and covered in just enough wax to keep those asymmetrical little bastards away, and I could trust that if something said it was organic it was from a proper farm, a giant faceless megafarm where nobody was ever topless and the fruit was picked by machines instead of hungover coke-smeared waifs, three hundred dollar work shirts smelling like orgies and stale bourbon in some gross community garden. I got a cake for $ 6, it was two feet wide and had the most ingredients I had ever seen on one label and it was square and I loved it. I ate it at home, watching Diagnosis Murder on cable I pay for because they haven’t taken those things from me yet. Yet. And until they do, I have the Richmond Safeway.

And they did it again. They have a larger variety of sugar free icecreams. Now they have two! 1 the Lucerne Sandwich and 2 the Lucerne icecream dipped in chocolate. They also have the self serve checkouts now too, which makes things a bit more convenient, depending on how you view them. Don’t forget to use your Airmiles and Safeway club cards!

I was surprised not to see this Safeway on the list for Richmond? We are devoted Safeway shoppers and this one is the best out of all the Safeway outlets in Richmond. This Safeway has the best bakery and meat shoppe bar none. A florist, on site, for a fast grab to keep the wife happy. The produce all ways seems organized, and the over all feel for the store is very clean and community oriented. Great pharmacy staff as well — answered every question as I asked as I sniffled — I was sick as a dog before Christmas 2007 and they gave me the correct answer for my remedy. Nestled in at Seafair Mall off #1 Road and Francis Road, this Safeway is the best in Richmond! Check it out — you’ll notice the difference!
