We came here on a Sunday early afternoon. I’ve heard a lot of things about Pajo’s and I was skeptical, after all, how could it be better than British fish and chips? But on a sunny January Sunday early afternoon, we loitered over from the fisherman’s wharf and just had to try it. Now the first thing you’ll notice is that it’s on it’s own dock. Literally you cross a bridge to reach this place, so cool! Ordered the Cod and chips Large. It was a pretty generous portion. The fish itself is lightly battered(which I like) and was very light and flaky, so very delicious. The chips(fries) were also very good and heavily sea salted which made it super tasty!

Tastes fresh and were definitely crispy but in the end It’s just fish and chips Pajo’s is famous for them, though might as well give it a try

Pajo’s is famous for their fish and chips and that is exactly what I came here for. The have three options; Halibut, Salmon and Cod. I tried their Halibut and Salmon and will try their Cod on another visit. The Halibut was delicious! Perfectly cooked and went well with the tartar sauce. The salmon was soso. It was a bit on the dry side and was too firm. The ‘chips’ or fries were terrible. They were not crunchy and looked like leftover bits of potatoes scraps. Had a hard time finishing those. I’ll just order fish next time.

Me and my BF shared the everything burger and large cod fish & chips. It was delicious. COD had crunch and was moist. Burger was pretty good. My only complaint is I would want more burger and fish and less fries. The fries made up 2⁄3 of the dishes. Burger patty was pretty thin…

It’s not the best fish n chips, but it’s like an old friend you don’t mind visiting once in a while. Nothing beats a cool summer day and eating Pajo’s fish n chips outside on a picnic bench in beautiful Steveston. I really believe eating outdoors help enhance the flavour! Staff is always friendly and food has always been served nice and hot. Price is a bit high — so I only go here once in a while.

Amazing! Best fish and chips I had in a while! I got the salmon one, my friend got the cod — both great but I’d recommend the salmon. The place was packed, but the service was efficient.

These are awesome fish and chips, served in «newspaper» Not the best of all time but pretty high up there. Would definitely stop by again. Everything else on the menu, though, is so-so and the fries are also so-so.

I was in the Vancouver area to visit my friend for a couple of days. She lives in the area, but doesn’t eat most seafood(sacrilege!), but she does eat fish and chips. I’m from Alberta and if I’m in the Vancouver area then any chance to eat seafood I’m going to take. So we went down to Steveston in Richmond because my friend’s friends had recommended this place. My thoughts. 1. The restaurant is right down on the dock and that’s really cool. Look I can get seafood at home(that’s definitely improved over the years), but I can’t get fish and chips from a restaurant and eat them right on the pier/dock/whatchamacallit. Maybe it seems a little gimicky. Maybe locals are like«yuck, sea/ocean/inlet/bay, etc water.» I think it’s spiffy. 2. It was busy, very crowded when we got there, but it was easy enough to find the right queue to join to order. I like that the menu was post at the front and on the side where you ordered. 3. Price seemed really good. I got the small order of fish and chips and did not leave hungry. I can’t imagine what the large order would look like. 4. The food was good. It was neat that they served it in the newspaper cone. I got the salmon, the breading wasn’t overpowerful, and it was crisp and just the right amount of greasy. The chips/fries were pretty good… not amazing, but really that’s not why you come for fish and chips. 5. Free water was a nice touch. I had a water bottle so I filled it up there. It’s not cold water, but it’s free, and probably better than having a pop or something. 6. Seating was a little crowded, but my friend and I nabbed a couple of seats. I was confused by the holes in the tables until I realized that’s there the newspaper cone of fish goes. Unlike some other reviewers we didn’t have any issues to nose-diving seagulls. I can’t say Pajos is the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life, but I enjoyed it and if I’m in Richmond again I’ll definitely consider coming back here again.

Yes prices are a little steep comparatively but can’t beat the taste. They have a selection of fish — halibut, cod, or salmon with bottomless chips. Never had to ask for for more chips but I do love their light beer batter for their fish. Fish burger mediocre and I would recommend you to stick to their fish and chips if you come here. If not for the prices, 5 stars for sure. Wish they could make it more affordable. After all, the environment is very casual with minimal cleanup required.

I very rarely order fish and chips, in fact this could probably be my first. I just do not like deep fried food in batter. But since we were at Steveston, my gf recommended this. We got to try each kind of fish, the salmon, cod and halibut. It was wrong to try the halibut first. It was so good. The fish was flaky, soft, moist and the batter was not thick and tough as I expected. The halibut set the bar so high that the salmon and cod did not meet. The salmon was not bad, it was actually moist but the cod, like how a cod usually is, was pretty much bland. Next time I know, the only calories worth diving into are the halibut fillets, too bad they are the priciest. Another good thing is the nice patio they have for customers and variety of sauce. Con: the price. Very pricey for 3 pieces of fish. At least you get bottomless chips which could somewhat make up for the price. Halibut was good, but still pricey IMO.

S got the Large Salmon and Chips, which comes with 2 and a half pieces of fish and this is definitely quite a lot for one person. Good for sharing though! I usually get halibut or cod, because I always have a bad feeling that the salmon will become too dry after getting fried. Well, I thought wrong! At Pajo’s, they use pacific wild salmon, and surprisingly, the salmon is cooked to keep its moisture! I feel like you also get more meat compared to the other two fish. The batter is crispy and it is served with their fresh cut fries. Apparently the fries and soda are bottomless, something that seems to be new! For myself, I had been seeing pictures of their new item, the Soft Shell Tacos, and knew I had to give these a try. I was surprised by the portions, since I was expecting perhaps two tacos only. It ended up being three large soft shell tacos filled with deep fried cod, coleslaw and topped with a delicious Sriracha mayo. This was delicious, with the fish being moist and the batter crispy. Overall, we were quite happy with the new items we tried. They are always very busy on sunny weekends, so be aware of the long waits. You can also head over to the one at Gary Point to see if there are shorter waits. Pros: — Light batter and fish is moist — Patio is great for sunny days Cons: — Long waits on the weekends

Did a bike ride with my kids along the dike in Steveston and ended up at Pajo’s…of course we were there for the Fish & Chips. The fish was good but the chips were better… much better. Kids loved them so much they went back for a re-fill of the unlimited fries. We all like the way the fish and chips were presented in the cups and that you could drop them in the holes in the table to eat. Not a meal we could eat on a regular basis but we will be back in a few months.

Great place to eat on a sunny day. You can take your fish and chips and enjoy it at the wharf. However, be prepared for at least a 15 minutes line up for the food. You can choose either salmon, cod or halibut for the fish. Personally, I like the halibut best. The portions are quite large so make sure you go there with an appetite!

Over breaded fish, tasteless coleslaw, and a spiceless/unexciting tartar sauce. We spent $ 40 for just fish and no chips at Pajo’s. I ordered the salmon and my wife ordered the halibut. Very disappointing experience. Will not be visiting again.

Came here yesterday for linner. Was in Steveston and what do you eat when you’re in Steveston? Fish and chips. And one of the most well known place is Pajo’s. Ordered the small cod and fries. Given the odd time I was there later afternoon before dinner, the wait wasn’t too long. I was surprised that despite ordering a small, I received two pieces of fairly decent sized fish. I’m actually not a big fan of fish and chips so it’s rather difficult for me to rate and give it a super high rating. But I can say it satisfied my cravings at the time, I was filled up, and I didn’t get the runs afterwards. Only other thing is that I found the ground rather dirty and unsightly. There were ketchup and food littered all around the«dining area». They do have other things on the menu besides fish and chips. So next time I’m here, I’ll probably give something else a try: p

Ah yes, the might fish and chips, so EASY to make and so HARD to mess up. So… why is it hard to find places that actually do it well at a decent pricepoint? Pajo’s has become a staple in the lower mainland with having a few different shacks across the area and for good reason. Let’s be real here… It’s extremely hard to go into detail over fish and chips because it’s such a simple meal but I will say that the fish at this particular location is fresh and the batter has a fantastic crisp/crunch to it, so it’s not hard to see why the line-ups can get up to a half hour long. With it being right in the middle of Steveston the area is perfect for a lunch date because there’s is a lot of great scenery to walk around and enjoy whist holding your to-go cone of deep fried deliciousness ;) Prices are decent and worth it for what you do get, especially since it’s BOTTOMLESSFRIES! So try it out, but good luck keeping your Summer body if you decide to frequent this joint.

I’ve been coming here for years so I’m used to the wait, so I came prepared. They’ve definitely updated the menu since I’ve last been here so that was a pleasant surprise. But of course being a creature of habit, I stuck to what I knew: halibut and chips. From what I remember, the prices have gone up. I’ll admit that I was absolutely disappointed with the portion size. It used to be a lot more fish in the order. For $ 20, I was expecting more than 3 strips of fish. The fries were delicious. They were fresh out of the fryer and so crisp and delicious. My complaint with them is that no one should serve you tiny end bits. There were more broken up tiny pieces of fry end bits than actual long fries — that was disappointing. Also, be prepared to be swarmed by a bunch of pricks. So many people felt they were more important than others so budged to the front of the waiting area when turns out their number was over 20 numbers away from being called. Also, it would be nice if people would have the courtesy to not have their kids dawdle in the wait area, making a fuss and running around. If you come here, it’s a test of your patience. If you’re impatient, please avoid coming here. The people here work really hard and deal with so many people throughout the day, so the last thing they need is a bunch of pushy, rude, condescending people barking at them or being rude to them. Be laid back, easy going, and patient because the ordering line can be long and the pickup line even longer!

i’m not a big fish and chips kinda girl. but these ones aren’t bad. for a steveston eatery, it wasn’t as expensive as some of the other diners. i’ve never had my cod overcooked, altho their fries can get greasy. their tartar sauce is decent. but they would have to up their sides to get a 4 star from me(either in variety or taste).

I use to love coming here for fish and chips, but now I’m not so sure. I haven’t gone in years and it seems like quality has deteriorated. This most recent time I went, the fish wasn’t as crispy as I remember and the chips were a bit lackluster. The line is always stretched down the dock, but moves surprisingly quick. I ordered their large cod fish and chips($ 14) plus a grilled fish taco($ 9). DON’T get the fish taco. For the $ 9 you’re paying, you should be expecting a stellar taco, but what we got was a pathetic rolled up tortilla with a small piece of fish plus some veggies. The wrap was half empty. Don’t do it.
