Blynx Optical

Had to get replacement lenses for my frames as my prescription changed.
The order whole process was extremely fast and efficient — the super friendly staff there recommended the type of lens for me to get and told me to come back the very next day! This was a pleasant surprise as I don’t like to be without my glasses.
I have extremely high prescriptions (–10, –9) — so it was $ 210 for me as I have to get the thinnest lenses possible. However, the price could probably vary to the lower end for people who have normal prescriptions. The staff was honest in telling that me that although there are more expensive options, the $ 210 option is more than sufficient for me.
After I got my glasses, the lenses were perfect. I didn’t even get the dizzy, first day feeling after I change my prescriptions on my glasses. They even tightened the hinges on my glasses which is a thoughtful touch (:

This place is awesome! I initially came here for contact lenses and I received the best customer service. They were extremely helpful in helping me find contact lenses that fit my eye shape. They also have a lot of designer frames and great staff!

Excellent service, price and selections. The staff & owners are also super friendly. I will definitely keep coming back to this store whenever I’m shopping for glasses/​sunglasses. worth the trip even if you live outside richmond/​vancouver area.

Sammy and his team are one of the best in customer service and price. I came here because of a few friends recommendations and I was very happy with the polarized shades I got. Sammy knew somehow my personality and chose ones that fit my face and style, after knowing me for a few minutes! He made my shopping experience so enjoyable along with an awesome price for a pair of Dolce & Gabbanas. I will be back and will make sure to tell everyone I know! Thank you!

In the beginning, there was good service, but three weeks after already obtaining the glasses, I realized that the lens scratched very easily. Even though the service was decent, the product is horrible. I went back to Blynx Optical, and instead of greeting us in a friendly way, they were rude and said that I ruined the glasses lens and if I wanted them to fix it, I would have to pay an extra $ 180 on top of the price that I got the glasses for, which was over $ 300. I do not recommend this store and you should never trust this place. They deserve negative stars but I had to put at least one star for Unilocal’s requirements.

Blynx, not only has a great selection, they provide great customer service and are so friendly. I will def. return for my 2^nd pair.

We came here based on a Google search and excellent Unilocal reviews and our expectations were met! A friendly, efficient business with competitive prices. I brought my own frames and had lenses put in for 150 dollars less than quoted to me by a chain store in Vancouver.

The store may not be as impressive looking as some of the others in Richmond but the owner Sammy Lee is a wonderful man who goes out of his way to find you the very frame you want, suiting not just your taste and face but also your budget — whether it be a 50 $ generic one or a 500 $ Porsche Design!
Then works at having the lens installed at the earliest and in my case a day earlier than promised.
Dealing with him you realize that he knows his job and his sense of humor keeps you smiling :)

I won’t buy glasses and sunglasses anywhere else. Sammie gives me the absolute best service and price. I also love how this is a family run store. I have bought brands, such as ic Berlin, Roberto Cavalli, Vivien Westood, Marc Jacobs, Ray Ban, Kio Yamato, Dior, Versace, and Tom Ford (yes, I have a lot of eyewear). If you mention my name, Sammy will give you a special discount. All my friends and family go here to buy eyewear.
OH! If you wear contacts, he is cheaper than Clearly Contacts. His deals are amazing!

I’d recommend Blynx unconditionally. This is by far the best optical store I’ve ever visited hands down.
Sammy the owner has great customer service and spot on taste. He was extremely patient with me as I tried on different frames and helped me pick out a pair that I hadn’t even originally considered. (I literally get compliments from strangers on my glasses)
When I needed a slight adjustment, no problem. Sammy was courteous and accomodating despite being extremely busy with his other customers.
Blynx is awesome — I’d give it 10 stars if I could!

Optical shops (as well as eye doctors, dentists, ETC) are competitive business! that being said, there are some dishonest or greedy people out there who just want your money. Case in point, i walk in an optical store stating that i wanted to try some of the brand new frames i saw at the display window… at first they were nice and then as soon as get me to sit down, they try to push the «no name» glasses. Sure — it’s higher profit margin for them !!
This is NOT true with Blynx Optical. All of their frames are of high quality and there are many styles and brands to choose from. I never get the sense they were pushing to sell me the most $$ pair. I get a strong impression that they want to find me the best looking glasses with in my budget and other requirements. No dirty tactics and no number games. They never rush me through a decision and that’s important !
The owners really have an eye to what looks good. They might suggest something that i hesitate at first but later grows on me. I always get a lot of compliments !

One word. Amazing. everything from service to prices. It was so good that I got 2 pairs of glasses! Then I got my bf to get one too! Shop no further, this is the place to be! I know cuz I went to so many others n by far this place has best selection and prices! Also excellent customer service, my glasses coloring were messed up after 2 weeks of use. The owner did a over the counter exchange for me. Love this place!

Went there on a friend’s recommendation. I’ve been wearing glasses for 20 years now, so I consider myself pretty practiced at the process of acquiring new frames and lenses for a new prescription and quite sensitive to how I’m treated when I do shop for glasses (on average every 2 – 3 years). Unlike the previous reviewer, I like wearing glasses and definitely prefer them to my contacts.
Service by staff at Blynx was helpful, cheery, and they listened well to what I wanted.
Blynx was the first of three places I shopped. With my friends’ help, I picked out a current, stylish frame. Selection was very good. They were very upfront with me re: cost of lenses and though not advertised, there was a sale on. The frames ended up being 40% off.
Now, I find the test of any kind of customer service to be when you let them know that you want to comparison-​shop further and will not be buying at this moment. If they treat you well then, then they really DO value their customers. I let the staff at Blynx know that, and what do you know, still cheery and helpful, offering to hold the frames I wanted for me. Consider me impressed at this point.
Turns out, Blynx had the best prices of the 3 places I shopped at (all optical stores run by Chinese owners in Richmond). I returned 40 minutes later and ordered. Seeing as I haven’t worked with them before, Blynx was very flexible about me putting down a deposit of 50% of the total cost and paying the rest when picking up the finished glasses. When I went to show a friend what the frames looked like online that evening, I found out that Blynx had even better prices than
. Now that’s what I call an achievement.
They told me 3 working days, and they were true to their word. Moreover, putting on my new pair of glasses, I didn’t have that funny dizzy feeling that I get half the time when updating a prescription. It was great. The overall experience of shopping at Blynx, and learning that the owner does the work himself in-​house, made such a positive impression that I will definitely be going back to them. My mom has already decided that she will be shopping with them.
One last thing, they will be moving into Yaohan’s second level at the end of November 2010, so yay, cheers for convenience!

I dislike having to wear glasses, but the fact is, I don’t really have any choice. Last week, just before my birthday, my titanium frame broke. I’ve been functioning without them since then and the world is much smaller (everything far away is burred).
Today, after getting an update on my prescription, I started to shop for frames and lenses.
I went to three places and walked away in disgust since they treated me like I didn’t deserve to shop in their stores.
Blynx was totally different, thankfully. When we walked into the shop, they were friendly and polite. It looks like a family business since they had their chld in the store with them. I like to support the family business, since I know bow bard it can be. They were quick to help us and were able to refine my horrible taste into something great. Actually, with their humour and pleasant atmosphere, they made it enjoyable to shop for glasses. Amazing.
Prices were very reasonable. In fact, they were excellent. The crafting of the lenses is done in house, so there are no communication issues with going to an outside shop.
Bought my frames, selected a lens type and style, paid, and was done within 40 minutes.
I’d recommend this store to anyone. I still hate paying money to correct my failing body, but they made it painless and almost fun.
