We entered here with the desire to visit every place on the island, and we were greeted with good food, good people and a simple but homey atmosphere, outside of this place. The food was overpriced, by 3−4x what would be expected of a seedy island/grandma’s attic type ambiance. We got four baskets of food from our kind but overworked waitress for just under $ 100. I have never, ever, had to salt and season a burger myself, at a restaurant; but here I did. My wife was disgusted, my kids did not eat their food, the lemonade water my daughter received tasted like it was on its second round of customers. When talking about our experience with a local we were told, in a polite way, that it wad not a very good restaurant and the owner was«cheap.» We also ordered lunch items and they were by far not the most pricey on the menu. I really feel we received below walmart quality and freezer burned food for the price of a 3+ star meal in my home town. Only bad review i will write about the island.

I got the pickerel and it was a good portion and was tasty, but the rice and beans were very bland. The drinks seemed to be a good price, but they were totally watered down! This place is not very clean either and is WAY overpriced!

It was a pleasant surprise! I had the local lake Erie pickerel, broiled, and it was delish! The generous portion of the fish, skin on, was broiled to perfection. It also came with salad, rice, veg and corn. I didn’t really know what to expect of the first restaurant we went to on the island, and I have to say that the quality of the food set us up pretty well for the general fantastic food we experienced in the island. As it was a Saturday, they also had their $ 19.95 buffet that the Hubs gorged himself on. Beef, chicken, pork, veg, pasta, corn, salad, soup. The atmosphere is Florida Keys, with the associated laid back service(aka a bit slow on a busy night).

Probably more of a three-star place, but in the context of the island, and in light of the ridiculous one-star review in place now, four seems appropriate. It’s a simple operation, with a tiny staff doing a handful of things really well. The perch and walleye(pickerel in Canada) are delicious. Servings are huge. Prices seemed fair to me.

We were on Pelee Island for a few days cycling holiday and made a point of trying different restaurants while we were there. There are not a lot of dining options on the island but the website for the restaurant looked interesting so we thought we would give it a try. Big mistake. The restaurant is decorated in an interesting island theme if you are a Jimmy Buffet fan which was OK but the meal was nothing like what I expected. We had been warned by locals that this place was expensive. I didn’t mind that if the quality of food and service meant there was some value. Unfortunately this was not the case. I ordered soup and was told to help my self from the tub sitting by the salad bar and found that I would have to use a Styrofoam bowl. I ordered the Perch basket. Perch is a locally caught fresh Lake Erie fish but this had been over cooked– it was dry and tasteless. The portions were smaller than other restaurants(notably the Westview Tavern) and it was over priced despite being one of the cheaper items on the menu. The coleslaw that came with it was in a small plastic tub that looked like a smaller version of what you would get from KFC. Its a casual place despite the prices but the service was perfunctory at best. Restaurants on the island do tend to be expensive generally because it all has to be shipped in– that makes sense but overall there was no value for money here. We intend to go back to Pelee Island again but I will not go to this restaurant again and I would never recommend it to anyone.
