The Unrefined Olive

This is such a neat place and the perfect place if you’re looking for a personalized housewarming or wedding shower present. There are over 50 different vinegars and oils to choose from. Prices are reasonable and they sell these little taster sets that are perfectly paired for 20 $.
My husband and I attended a Unilocal tasting event last night here and enjoyed trying all the flavours. Highlights are fig balsamic and blood orange oil, balsamic pomegranate, lime oil with ginger honey white balsamic, and basil olive oil. We bought a taster set and a basil infused olive oil for day to day spiralized pastas and salads.
The hosts were generous with their time and knowledge. I’m so happy to have discovered this neat place with the help of Unilocal

I really like this place and boy are the staff knowledgable. You can tell they have spent a great time to learn olive oil and balsamic vinegar in and out.
The selection is huge and they let you try whatever you want to best pair your taste pallet with the correct olive oil or balsamic. The prices aren’t steep at all really and you can taste that you are getting what you are paying for.
I can’t wait to come here to try what is in season next time!

Just had the most educational, informative and delicious eye opening time at this lovely hidden gem! It is owned by a lovely married couple and let me tell you they sure know their stuff when it comes to oils and balsamics !! Go in, ask questions, smell and taste the delicious unique things they have to offer, everything and anything from citrus, grassy and herbs! I personally left with a delicious 18 year aged balsamic dressing and an absolutely amazing mushroom and herb infused extra virgin olive oil.
Amazing experience, (with parking) and i will be back very soon!
Also reasonably priced 14 $ for a 200 ml bottle of delicious actually health beneficial oil
I am/​WAS the kind of person who avoided oil like the plague and only cooked with water & spices & i also always HATED balsamic vinegars but today really opened up my eyes and my pallet so if you actually like oil & balsamic you MUST go here!

This place is one of my favorite shops in Ottawa… they have the most amazing oils, balsamic vinegars, seasoned sea salts, and so much more. If you have not been to one of their 2 amazing locations yet, my questions to you is: «What are you waithing for?»
Here is why this place rocks:
1. Before you buy, you can taste!
2. You can’t go wrong with items like: Dark Chocolate Balsamic Vinegar, Wild Rosemary Olive Oil and Espresso Balsamic Vinegar (among so, so many other amazing oils and vinegars… these are my top 3!!!).
3. Unlike other flavored oils and vinegars, their products are ALL natural and incredibly yummy, meaning if you see Lemon Olive Oil, they basically crushed lemons with olives to make the oil (unlike other places where they add «natural flavors»…yuck!).
So, take time out this weekend to visit the Glebe or Kanata location and say hi to the amazing and friendly staff (another bonus) at the Unrefined Olive!!!

You can’t go wrong with olive oil and balsamic vinegar bar. They have a variety of oils and vinegars and you can taste everything!!! (With the exception of the premier oils — truffle oils and the sort). that’s it. Nothing else to say. A definite place to Check out for the olive oil and balsamic lover.

The Unrefined Olive is an Olive Oil and Vinegar merchant. Sounds a bit boring right? It isn’t!
When you walk in, you notice the cleanliness and orderliness of the store. High tables neatly stacked with round stainless steel containers — holding either olive oil or vinegar. What’s fun about this is — you can taste test!
The staff is knowledgeable. They explain how the store works, what the general groupings are — and if you ask, will also give recommendations. We ended up with a while balsamic vinegar infused with pear — which, we are told, is wonderful on salad even without an oil.
There are many many choices. Go check it out. This is (to me) a bit of a gourmet heaven — so go in with the right mindset for prices. (What I’m telling you: It’s not inexpensive — but I think based on the product and service that it’s not out of the realm of reality either.)
Besides the Olive Oil and Vinegar, they have a small selection of other high quality cooking oils.
Might be good to go in with a bit of a plan — for example — know that you are looking for an oil for dipping bread… or for salad… or for cooking — otherwise you may have a hard time making a choice.
