The Business Inn

I stayed for only one night so take this review for what it’s worth. Checking in was painless. Parking is tight and must be paid for daily. I didn’t care for that but it is a congested area. If you are there for more than a couple of days that can add up. The doors are strange because you do have to lock them after you are out. The suite was nice. A little dated but clean. Nice sized kitchen, living room and bedrooms. Super comfortable beds (wished I could have packed that up and brought it home lol); Desktop computer w/​internet plus WiFi and printer. In the morning there was a great breakfast spread with variety. Most of the staff we ran into were nice. I would stay here again.

Stayed here for a night. it was decent, really great price! It wasn’t noisy even being over a busy bar, the room was a functional room. No bells or whistles but it was clean & spacious. Staff was nice. The breakfast was a basic but hey it’s really cheap so what can you expect. Worth staying here.

Fairly decent Apartment Hotel with large rooms that can be booked daily, weekly, monthly, etc. I lived there for a year before settling into my home. Friendly Staff and quiet. Located right in the heart of Centretown in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, this is ideal for visitors and those here in Business, as its location cannot be beat! Attached to the Business Inn is the Pub/​Bar, MacLaren’s (see my review here in Unilocal!), that you can grab a quick dinner or drink, play some Pool, and just socialise! You don’t even have to leave the building to access MacLaren’s! This bar can get fairly busy on the weekends or especially during the playoffs (of any given sport!), but doesn’t create any noise level whatsoever for those staying at The Business Inn, so don’t worry! The only negative is the pushy and unfriendly Cab Drivers that are often lined up outside. Try using Über Ottawa instead! Use Code: 2mycx for a FREE RIDE, up to $ 20 (CAN), for FIRST TIME Über Riders, as an alternative to those Cabbies! $ 20 in a clean Über or UberXL vehicle will get you MUCH further than $ 20 in a Ottawa Taxi! Give it a shot! Don’t fret! Get where you need to be in style!

I’ve been doubting whether to give the hotel 4 or 5 stars and I’ll clarify below why I went with the higher end of it. In short I seems they have a great staff everywhere — which must come from management and their policies. My 4 days at the hotel therefore were extremely pleasant.
The friendly, fun-​filled, courteous and accommodating staff members at the entrance, cleaning staff, breakfast room and even the mechanic Kevin replacing a light bulb.
The amenities are great: simple but sufficient choices at the free breakfast — incl. ready bags to take with you if in a rush; Laundry room (free use incl. detergent), sufficient machines in the fitness and the staff (again) tried to accommodate any other reasonable requests.
The room — actually suite, I had — are spacious with couch, dining set and a little balcony (my little snowman kept me company). It was gorgeous sleeping on the soft queen size bed. The Internet connection was excellent inside the whole room. 2 large flatscreen TVs with cable connection and a separate desktop computer in the room including b/​w printer. The bathroom ha everything needed, incl soap, shampoo and conditioner and soft towels. Then add the full size kitchen with electric stove, fridge and freezer combination. And that all for a very good price.
Some people complained about noise before. I’m not sure if it helps but I’m a light sleeper but had no issues in my suite on the 5^th floor on the corner of Elgin and Gilmour.
Only reasons why possibly not fully 5 stars: the premise is a bit outdated, same with room’s furniture, one has limited control over bedroom temp (if bedroom windows could be opened it would help), couldn’t easily recycle in room (while all light bulbs are replaced by LEDs they try to be green) and kitchen is minimally stocked: suggested additions are pot holders, colander, full size frying pan, brush/​sponge and possibly dispenser with cooking oil, pepper and salt. But with enough flexibility I could prepare meals myself with the available utensils. Just a Tupperware or so to save things in the fridge would top it off.
Despite there are possible improvements to make, looking at the price, location and the friendly staff tipped it over to 5 stars!

Let me begin with saying that next time, I am in Ottawa, I am going to be here and no where else! Hands down the best and the most affordable place to stay in Ottawa!
Location: Perfect for my needs and overall too — this place is great with some great food joints, pubs, and almost everything! I walked to the downtown from here and it isn’t a much of a distance. Byward Market, National Art Gallery and WWII Memorial is close by. Airport is also within manageable area.
Rooms: Large, spacious and absolutely clean. I got a regular suite — it was with full kitchen, and had everything required for cooking — pots, pan, casserole dishes, plates, toaster, coffee maker, etc. The bathrooms are large, clean and neat. The complimentary toiletries supplied are Neutrogena and not some substandard lemon scented products. One great thing is that they have a supply closet on each floor — if you need anything, just walk and get it!
Each room has couch, TV, dining space and a desk. The desk is comfortable with keyboard drawer, mouse and a PRINTER!!! Holy moly — I was so happy with this arrangement since I was working remote. And believe me, each item is functioning and in great condition. The housekeeping staff is quick, friendly and efficient — gor fresh towels and clean bathrooms every alternate day (or as requested).
And extremely good wifi — worked in every corner of the room, unlike some hotels! They have ethernet port too.
For CAD 119 per night, it was a great deal!
Breakfast: Far away from home — meant lot of eating out. And it definitely burns a big hole in your pocket. But, since breakfast is complimentary, it saves up a bit! Hot, fresh breakfast invites you to the 3^rd floor. I stayed here for a whole week — but boy, never was I bored with the breakfast! They have variety of cereal, pancakes, waffles, fruits, muffins, bagels, eggs (fried), hash browns, juices and lot more. I tried different items everyday. They have grab-​and-​go bags too!
There is pub ‘McLarens on Elgin’ connected with the hotel. You can just run down and grab a drink /​bite, without actually going out.
I cannot stress enough — but this is a great place! So happy with the stay.

This is a great budget hotel. Large rooms at a reasonable price. Clean facilities and free hot breakfast buffet everyday.
This place is great if you are planning to stay in Ottawa a while, and need a place to set up camp. The large rooms have full kitchens, with dens, and bed rooms. The price is one of the cheapest downtown, and the service is amazing. Every time I would stay in Ottawa, before moving here, I would stay here.

A great option for a budget traveller — comfortable, clean rooms with good shower pressure and free (fast) wifi. I was very happy with the service we received for the price, and breakfast was included. I would recommend :)

I’ve gone by The Business Inn may times. My son had just finished his second year at law school (the proud father said). He was subletting his apartment located across the street. His mother and I were there to clean and — well that was about it. We had very little time to spend in the room. It was a pleasure to find the room (the signature suit) so large. I was assuming that they would have been back to the basics, small, drab and with a ambient that said ‘sucker’. Beautifully furnished with Group of Seven prints on the walls, heck the whole group of seven could have shared the room. Too bad Group of Seven isn’t around today to paint scenes of people looking down at their smartphones.
There was a full kitchen, but then again we didn’t have time to use it. I’m not much of a cook. I don’t use Hamburger Helper, I use Hamburger Helper, Helper, Helper. I guess the gym would have been good too, but I’m thinking of maybe giving up on my Olympic dream.
The free continental breakfast was one thing I did’t miss out on. Other hotels think the continent of Antarctic was the inspiration for that type of service. They had everything from soup to nuts, but no soup or nuts. I had the waffles, but there were plenty of choices. If you would have cereal over waffles raise your hand. Now use that hand and slap your face.
They aren’t catering to families, so there’s things missing like swimming pools. Sure, maybe I shouldn’t be practicing my swimming strokes in the lobby, but then sitting there wearing my new goggles would look pretty silly.
Value for the money and yes I would recommend the hotel to other.
Room Tip: Ask for room 307 that’s were they service the continental breakfast — breakfast in bed and new f.

If you’re looking for a comfortable, spacious room with your own computer and printer at a fair price, then this is the place for you. For $ 125 a night we got a nice living room with 40“TV, dining room, small kitchen, spa bathroom, and large king size bed in a separate room with a 40″ TV. Plus a computer and printer stocked with paper in the living room. Free breakfast (the usual bagels, muffins, cereals, cheese, coffee, tea) every morning. Their housekeeping staff is friendly and efficient. All this in the middle of a nice neighborhood with pubs and coffeehouses just across the street.
