I’m biased when it comes to Asian restaurant, but their Ramen was delicious! I would like more variety with the Ramen if the restaurant title has Ramen in there.

It’s good but not authentic. The takoyaki balls are not authentic and don’t taste good. I had the miso ramen and my girlfriend had the spicy ramen. The spicy one is insanely spicy. My girlfriend eats a lot of spicy food but this is in a different level. To the point that it’s not good. My miso ramen was ok but extremely far from the best one I had.

I had the ramen shoyu and it was very tasty Not the best I’ve had but definitely good. I’d be looking for a more deep and thick broth to rate it higher. But then I was introduced to ramen in Japan… I also ordered unagi nigiri and it was lovely! Warm and a large portion beautifully presented. I couldn’t resist eating it and forgot to take a photo! Nice atmosphere too with sushi prep taking place at the counter within view.

I came here with a friend because we were craving ramen and couldn’t wait to get our fix at what looked like a nice little spot. While the service was nice, the ramen was awful. Essentially, it was instant noodles and instant broth topped with the classic ramen toppings(noori, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, pork belly, egg). They hardly even put any mushrooms and shoots. There was a lot of pork, which was nice, but it wasn’t very tender. The broth was just awful. The broth was not rich, it tasted like bullion cubes in hot water. Overall, this was a huge disappointment. Neither my friend nor I finished our soup.

Without a doubt the worst ramen I have ever had. Broth had zero flavour to it, it was basically water. Noodles had a strange taste to it. Don’t understand all the 5 star reviews here.

My friends have been trying to get me to come here and I finally did. I was skeptic at first for when ever I walk by it, it looks like a food court fast food sort of vibe. I ordered the spicy salmon and the miso soup. My friends ordered similar but got the wonton soup and the soup looked and smelled delicious. I was very surprised at the quality of the sushi. Usually you get alot of rice and the filling in the sushi is very little but the portions were perfect. I should of taken a photo but ate it to fast! Next time I shall have to come back and try the Ramen.

We have been hearing that this is Ottawa’s best ramen, so we came and ordered a MISO and a SPICY ramen. BROTH — Broth is the one of the, if not THE most important component of a ramen bowl. The authentic Japanese ramen broths can be very flavourful or salty, but Ginza’s broth tasted like it was too much on the opposite spectrum — it tasted watered down, too diluted. Some broths have mild flavours but still retain that meaty depth, the aftertaste umami, but Ginza’s broth did not have much depth. For that I was a little disappointed. I don’t dislike Ginza’s broth. Some days you just want a light soup, and this is good for that. Also, it’s good that you don’t need to chug 2L of water during and after eating at other, more authentic ramen joints. Because the ramen would have been delicious but ramen+2L water in your belly is just uncomfortable. NOODLE — Standard Japanese ramen noodles, done well. Some people like it chewier(harder) but not me, so for me it was good. CHASHU — Generous portions; it came with 3 long slices. Tasted great. Tender, not too burnt. SERVICE/AMBIANCE — Service was very good. Good ambiance too, modern décor. Tables are a bit too close together but what ramen establishment is not like that, I think that’s part of the ramen experience. I thought the menu would be majority ramen but there were only 3 ramen items and the other 3 pages were filled with special sushi rolls, phở, and other randoms. I’d like to come back to try their other dishes and maybe just to eat the chashu, but not for the ramen itself.

Surprisingly delicious. Before I came here, I was skeptical. It’s because they offer Phở(Vietnamese) and sushi and ramen(Japanese) at the same place. However my urge for ramen overtook any inhibition I had and I stepped into this place with a modern décor. The whole place has a new smell to it. I tried the spring rolls(I guess Chinese as well?) which were pretty good. The Spicy ramen knocked it out of the park. Delicious. The soft boiled egg was awesome as well. Pricing was pretty good, $ 12 for a big bowl of ramen. Beware. They aren’t joking around with the spicy label.

I had the vermicelli with grilled pork and a fried roll. It was pretty good. Then I had the ice cream, which is wrapped in little rice goo dumplings. We had green tea, strawberry, sesame seed, and red bean flavors, and they were all pretty good. See my posted picture.

Our family stopped in for lunch and they each had the Tonkatsu Shoyu Ramen while I had the pork vermicelli. We rated the restaurant with the following: Food: 4 Stars Service: 4 stars Ambience: 4 stars Washrooms: 3 stars Everyone loved the ramen noodles! Just the right texture; we asked if they make them themselves but after trying the restaurant decided to get someone else to make them. A great choice on their part and we appreciated their honesty. The broth was tasty too so thumbs up on the ramen. I had the pork vermicelli it came with lettuce and two spring rolls. Overall it was good but definitely needed the side sauce and the sriracha to bump it up! Regardless, still very good although I would of like the meat portion to be just a little bit bigger. All in all, good experience service was courteous and quick and we liked the brightness of the restaurant itself Wed come back for sure!

After having some dental work done, I had a craving for Phở. I met up with the great, Andrea B, who was a little sicky poo, and ventured down the street to this little place after seeing great reviews on Unilocal! I ordered the Chicken Phở, Small. It was the best Phở I’ve had! perfectly delicious. The staff were just as wonderful! providing recommendations on our sushi appetizer! I can’t remember the name of the sushi we had, but I had not heard of this kind of roll before. Always up for something new, and with the thumbs up from our server, we enjoyed delicious sushi and phở with great company! The layout of this tiny restaurant is fantastic! Lots of red and white, with funky bar stools and comfy bench seats on one side of the tables. I will be back for more!

I had the vegetarian ramen in miso broth, and it was sooo flavourful! The portion size was really generous and the price reasonable. Nice décor, friendly service. I’ll definitely come again.

I feel like I should have tried the ramen, since that’s what everyone on here is raving about. That being said, I was pretty sick with a chest cold when I came in here, and all I wanted was phở. It was a few steps from my sister’s apartment, so we decided to check it out. The décor is cute — loads of red and white. Our server was a total sweetheart(I’m hoping it’s not the one Paul mentions in his review… ick!), and was quick to get us lime water and recommend her favourites. We opted to share the kiss roll with spicy tuna, cucumber and crab stick wrapped in avocado. It was wonderful. I could have eaten more, but thankfully our phở arrived soon after. I went for the chicken and shrimp and loaded on the bean sprouts. The chicken was plentiful and delicious and while there wasn’t a ton of shrimp, the pieces I had were plumb and fresh. the broth was a bit bland, and I’ll likely add some hot sauce next time, or try another broth. That being said, it totally hit the spot and soothed my sore throat. Our service was lovely and it was a great spot to spend some time with my best friend. I’ll be back for sure.

I’ve developed a bit of a ramen obsession over the past year or so, and love to drop into one of the great shops in Toronto when we visit. Unfortunately, I hadn’t found ‘the place’ in Ottawa yet– but things have improved since we moved here, so I decided to give Ginza a try for lunch. Ginza uses tonkotsu, a rich, pork bone broth. It’s the most authentic tonkotsu broth I’ve seen in Ottawa, and tasty, but it wasn’t the punch in the face of rich flavour that I associate with the stock when it’s done best. The pork belly fell similarly flat in flavour, and the garnishes didn’t offer much of a range of textures. The spicy tonkotsu was not incredibly spicy, and I had a hard time getting our server’s attention to ask for something to spice it up.(By the time she came by after delivering our food, we were done). The noodles were nice, though — springy ramen noodles and not plain wheat noodles that we often find when ramen is scarce. If I have a serious ramen craving this place will hit the spot, but if you’re really die hard(for instance if you have a 20+ hour broth that you make in your kitchen so your whole house smells like pork for weeks… ahem) you may be disappointed. Ginza doesn’t carry only ramen, but has a range of Asian fare — mostly Japanese(ramen and sushi) but also some Vietnamese(phở) and Chinese(wonton soup with BBQ pork). Lunch was a bit pricey for what we got, but that’s not too surprising considering that they don’t have serious ramen competition in the city and downtown lunch is typically on the pricier side. Still, you won’t be hit with serious sticker shock as you can be at other places in the area, which is nice.

Finally a decent ramen place outside Japan. I thought it was not possible but I went to Ginza and absolutely loved it. Also, the unagi dragon roll(don’t remember the exact name, the one with eel) was excellent, don’t miss it. On the other hand, the mochi ice creams are pricy and a bit dull… not really worth a try.

Don’t waste your time, and don’t listen to the other comments. There’s ramen, and then there’s dumps like this that pretend to make something like this shack. You know as well as I do that it’ll change to a new business in no time(yes, this is the same business as Green Tea, but with a new name; yes, I still have the photos of the girl cutting her toenails behind the counter). Here’s the short version: I’m starving. I asked for the recommendation, it was terrible, i threw it out, and now I’m starving. I’m going to go sulk and watch TV now, hungry. Service is kind yadda yadda, draught beer yadda yadda, food is shit. I’m still spitting out grainy mystery bits that got stuck in my teeth. And now I have to take out my trash tomorrow so that the un-eaten shrimp don’t start to foul in my kitchen. So gross. If any of the owners are reading this: You’re going to bottom out in no time. Stop serving such terrible food. Even my sashimi was slimey. BLECH. This is edible, but it’s not worth paying for. Don’t go unless you’re drunk. But by that point, they’re closed anyways.

Surprisingly good ramen. Hits all the necessary flavours, consistencies and textures. Broth is flavorful, not too fatty like at Toronto Sansotei. The thin sliced mushrooms added a nice little extra umami punch. Slices of chasu were well done, soft, tender, flavorful. It was maybe a touch too salty, but that might have been from me adding too much chili powder. Ramen noodles were good, probably sourced from the same noodle factory as most places, Toko foods, or do they make it themselves? The phở did throw me off. The restaurant feels more like a cocktail bar than a noodle place. The water came in a lovely stainless steel cup accented with lime and a short cocktail straw. The server is obviously missing her true calling as a cocktail artist. All in all, this is a great place to satisfy your ramen cravings in Ottawa. It’s probably better than most ramen places in Montréal, although Toronto probably has slightly better. My gut feeling is that this place is better than Momofuku Toronto, but that’s not really saying that much.

They have this grilled octopus roll called the volcano roll that keeps me coming back. The service is spotty and for a small place, they don’t seem to know when to have more than one server working a busy Elgin lunch hour. The menu selection is smaller but better defined and the layout isn’t as frenetic as its predecessor, Green Tea. This place is a welcome new addition to the neighbourhood.

Went here for the first time tonight. I’ve been looking for a good ramen place ever since moving back from Toronto. So when someone said to check out this place I had to do so immediately. My friend and I shared many different courses as neither of us can eat large portions and this worked out great because I found the food portions quite large actually. We ordered one miso ramen, spider roll, volcano roll, and spicy tuna roll. We barely finished. The preparation was beautiful. The food was really tasty. The sushi rolls had great flavor and the ingredients blended quite nicely. The rolls were also quite thick which I liked. The soya sauce was great and I am usually quite picky about the sauce because many places make it too salty. The ramen was delicious and just what I was looking for. I’m not sure it tops any Toronto ramen places but it is definitely better than all the other ramen places in Ottawa. It was fresh, well cooked, presentable, the noodles were soft, the broth was well balanced and tasted very well. Both my friend and I were surprised as well as delighted. We also got a bottle of warm saké that went down smoothly alongside the food. The service was great. The waitresses were very helpful and pleasant. The chef as well as the waitresses didn’t hesitate to give recommendations. We went on a Friday evening around 9pm and the place was quite nice. It wasn’t crowded but maybe because many places on Elgin on a Friday night are usually stocked with the usual weekend pub goers. This ramen sushi bar isn’t to be confused with Guu in Toronto where it is loud and lively. It has a nice quiet ambiance to it. The candles were nice and it was great to carry on conversations — a nice contrast to the noise of Elgin Street at times!
