The food was excellent, not too salty. Every dish was wonderful. Even though the ice cream was excellent. The prices are good too

Tried it… Wasn’t impressed. I’m kind of a lame duck when it comes to Thai. Soup/Vermicelli bowl/Beef Satay… Nothing more, nothing less. Unfortunately it was less. I didn’t feel like soup tonight but I had a longing for a good meaty vermicelli bowl or a beef satay. Unfortunately this restaurant does not make either with lemongrass(despite its name) or a beef satay with rice. I tried politely to ask the waiter to make me a beef satay(which comes on skewers on their appetizer menu) with rice to no avail. In the end, I had a beer with a salt/pepper shrimp(which wasn’t on their menu but was noted to be a new item on an old crusty piece of paper). The shrimp was fantastic… but in end I left to have a real full meal elsewhere. 3 stars for the shrimp.

We came to visit Ottawa for winterlude and was looking for a place to eat. We stumbled upon Lemon Grass because the décor inside looked modern and the menu that was displayed outside seemed reasonable. As an appetizer we ordered the mango salad, fried tofu wit sweet chilli sauce and satay chicken skewers. For our main we ordered chicken pad Thai, chicken red curry and beef rice noodle stir fry with sticky rice and Thai iced tea. The food was very tasty and my boyfriend said that the red curry was the best he has ever had. The chicken satay skewers and the fried tofu with chilli sauce was very yummy as well. The prices were reasonable for the amount of food that was given and we would definitely come back to eat here. On the menu outside it did say that there was a lunch all u can eat for 14.99!!!

The all-you-can-eat lunch buffet is excellent… it includes appetizers, soups, and entrees, which were decent portions. Every dish we ordered was fresh and hot, and the service was friendly and quick. We plan to return next time we visit Ottawa.

We ended up here on a Saturday night, because we could not get into some of the more upscale restaurants on Elgin. I’m actually glad that we ended up here, because the food and service was really good. We also liked that they have a good selection of vegetarian items. If we are ever in Ottawa again, I would go back here to eat.

Stop here for lunch on Canada’s Thanksgiving Monday. Place was empty but it was almost 2 pm and a holiday. I should’ve followed my rule not to go into empty restaurants. Anyway, saw the $ 8.95 Pad Thai Lunch special on the window and figure what the heck. The place looked nice. Order the Pad Thai and it came out in 3 minutes. Wow, quick service I thought. Turns out it was microwaved Pad Thai. First mouthful burned my tongue. It was soaked in sauce. Flavor and noodles were ok. ½ the amount of sauce would’ve been more than adequate. Chicken slices were bland, like they were boiled. Ate about ¾ of it after it cooled off and asked for the check. Too much sauce. Surprise: $ 13.95. What happened to the lunch special? Well that’s only for take out. Didn’t even get hot tea. Not recommended.

The restaurant was nice and not too busy went there for lunch they have a buffet. Was about $ 16. The guy there he was very nice and the waitress was quiet but served pretty good. We tried all the appies offered on the buffet the tofu one was not good the chicken and veg rolls were amazing though. I had the shrimp pad Thai and did not enjoy that one much. My first time having Thai. Wasn’t sure it was supposed to taste like ketchup or tomato soup?

Had the spring rolls, veg spring rolls and the green curry! What amazing food! Being a veg, I don’t really like too many places, but one of the most veg friendly places I have been! Good food, good service! Def coming back when I visit this fine town again!

I love thai curry so i ordered the Chicken red curry. I thought it was good. Could have used a little more spice — i believe you can choose the level but i wasnt asked. Good amount of veggies and meat. I thought it was interesting that you had to order the rice as an extra side. The lady comes across as a bit rough but shes actually pretty nice and we chitchatted about candy crush: p One thing i would change is the temperature in the restaurant. it was hot! Im sure the customers closer to the window got a breeze but i came out with sweat dots on my shirt: s

Great Thai food. The vegetarian items where very well marked on the menu. The waiter made suggestions to improve my dinner choice. Nice interior and reasonable prices. Very nice experience.

We were hungry so the meal served its purpose. But the experience wouldn’t draw me back. Lemongrass chicken soup and shrimp version of same was delicious. But it was annoying that the tails were not removed so you had to fiddle with piping hot shrimp potentially burning yourself in the process. The red curry chicken in peanut coconut sauce was delicious but the sticky rice came in a plastic bag. That wasn’t appealing and dampened the experience. The Pad Thai with shrimp was mediocre with an unusual scent. Best described like stale fried tofu. Again fumbled around with the shrimp tails. If you ask me, shrimp should only be served with tails if it is cool to the touch. Two soups and two dishes without any drinks cost $ 26 per person including tip and taxes. I’ve had much better experiences at this rate at other establishments.

The food was not great and the service extremely slow. We were the only ones in the restaurant too! When my parents went here yesterday I had told them my experience was not good. Unfortunately theirs was no better. If you want thai I would suggest something else.

My girlfriend and I serendipitously found this place after deciding Isakaya was overpriced and we were feeling something different tonight. Soon after we walked in, it was apparent to us that this was a nicer thai restaurant than we were used to(wine glasses, dim light, etc). We sat down and looked through the menu. There were most of the thai standards — pretty much everything you would want a thai restaurant to have. The service was great and restaurant was very spacious with a great atmosphere. I ordered the Chicken Red Curry with a side of rice, which was pretty good! Having lived in Cambodia in the past, I am a bit of a curry snob. Rest assured, the curry here is pretty good(:. My girlfriend ordered the Green Mango Salad — which was absolutely delicious — definitely some of the best mango salad I’ve ever had. The mangos were freshly cut and came with an assortment of peppers, cashews and slices of onions. We also got the grilled pork cold rolls — but they weren’t anything to write home about. Also, everything was pretty reasonably priced, as all dishes are between $ 10 to $ 15. If you’re looking for Thai in Ottawa, I would definitely suggest that you check this place out.

This place had a great atmosphere(once the super loud chatty girls next to us left) a little elegant, but not so much so that you feel under dressed and out of place – a good vibe. There were not many diners the Wednesday night we went, but I did see several people get takeout. Started the meal with a nicely fragrant lemongrass tea, nice and light. We also enjoyed spring rolls and Tom Kha Kai soup. I quite enjoyed the soup, it was very well balanced and had excellent flavour; however I do wish the veggies had been more of a one-bite size than a two-bite size. I had the mango salad and my dining partner had the pad thai. Both were yummy and I like that there was no skimping on nuts – gotta love the crunch. The best thing about the plates were the carrot flowers – serious knife skills! I should have taken a picture, but they disappeared into my mouth. 3⁄30

This place is one of my faves to Thai in Ottawa. Their Mon-Fri lunch buffet(you choose at your table) is amazing for the price — $ 13.99, not to mention it’s all you can eat. Particular favourites include the tom kha soup, deep fried tofu, chicken skewers in peanut sauce, pad thai, and curry. The restaurant is simple and elegant and the servers are very attentive and friendly. Great location, right downtown.

It’s the only Thai place on Elgin st. My girl and i frequent it solely because we love pad-thai. This they serve. It’s alright. The food basically tastes like it’s ‘phoned in’. It will do in a pinch, but if you have the time go search Unilocal for better places.

This is a review specifically of the new«ALLYOUCANEAT! LUNCHBUFFET» at Lemon Grass. I would like to first define a couple of terms(definitions from the OED). buffet: In various collocations, […] the refreshments set out on the sideboard, table, etc., and where guests or customers are usually served standing. […] A refreshment bar. all you can eat: Of, designating, or offering a restaurant meal at which one may eat an unlimited amount of food(usually from a buffet), typically for a fixed price. That being said, the lunch is neither a buffet nor all you can eat. It is a lunch special, and the waiter will browbeat you into ordering as little food as possible. If you try to order more than you would have gotten in their old lunch special, which was $ 4 – 5 cheaper, he’ll either completely reject your order or make remarks about how that’s «too much food for one person» until you feel like such a lard ass that you’re ready to skip lunch and go to the gym instead. He «forgot» to bring us the soup we ordered and then refused to bring it when we brought it up again. He also only offered to bring us a second entrée, which we had ordered at the start, after both of us had cleaned our plates. When we asked for a small portion of that, we got an enormous plate of it(which we could not finish – surprise, surprise – and thereby ended up encouraging his guilt-tripping tactics). Part of their problem is that you can’t choose the portion size, because it’s not a buffet. So if you want to taste two different things, tough tiddlywinks. It is too much food for one person, and even if you thought you were going to order it anyways, you’re wrong. This is not a buffet, and it’s not all you can eat even if you put up with the waiter’s not-so-subtle rebuffs, because he might just refuse to bring what you’ve ordered. The only reason I’ve given two stars is that I still enjoy the food. It’s not the best Thai I’ve ever had, but I like it.
