Great selection of frozen yogurt bases and toppings! I really like that they have low fat versions I many of the frozen yogurts(always helps to save some extra calories before you load it up with the yummy toppings).

It’s like Menchie’s. You go there for the experience of serving yourself yogurt and topping it off. Also like Menchie’s, the yogurt is low quality and tastes like a mix of sawdust and sugar. Also, their topping machines aren’t very kid friendly. My 20-year-old friend couldn’t work the gummy worm dispenser. He was very saddened by this. If you’re going for experience it’s fun. If you’re going for taste and quality, you’re best off at a Yogen Fruz or Marble Slab.

I’ve gone to other self-serve frozen yogurt places in the city, and frankly I can’t decide what makes this place special. The yogurt wasn’t that great tasting, the topping containers were broken(instead of scoops you twisted knobs on some of toppings). The toppings were fairly standard fare, nothing terrible but nothing special. It was kind of mediocre in terms of cleanliness and service. The price caught me off guard as well as it seemed more expensive than Menchies. Given there aren’t any good alternatives in the area it’s fine, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to try them out.

Great option for Alta Vista crowd, conveniently located in the Trainyards.(Find Five Guys and look to the right.) Sold by weight — think before you pour about how much yogourt you really need to fill that aching hole of hunger you have. It’s easy to get carried away. Several flavours of yogourt base with all sorts of toppings. Mix and match, pay and enjoy. Sure to be lineups on a hot evening in the summer. I sense that end of the parking lot suddenly getting busier.(sigh) Would I recommend: Yes — for those in the neighbourhood, it’s worth considering as a destination for frozen delights. Would I return: Yes — it’s one more alternative that I appreciate having on my frozen desserts list.

So I’ve been to Kiwi Kraze about 5 or 6 times now. It’s near the gym that I go to, so I will sometimes stop by after a workout(don’t tell my trainer, lol!). In terms of layout, it’s pretty much like any other self-serve frozen yogurt place. They have 10 flavours at a time(regularly rotating) where you can swirl some together. They always have a dairy-free option and a sugar-free option. All their frozen yogurts are fat-free. Toppings are pretty much the same as other places(love the popping bobba and the mochi pieces!). They have little tiny cups(like condiment cups) so you can sample flavours. You can sample them yourself, unlike at Spoons where staff give you the samples. Kiwi Kraze has a «frequent flyer» card where after you spend $ 60 you get $ 5 off your next purchase. Better than nothing, but not that great. Spoon’s Rewards Card is much better — after 9 purchases(doesn’t matter how much you spend per purchase) you get $ 5 off your next purchase. However, Kiwi Kraze often has coupons in the local flyer packages and they have specials once in a while(like buy 1 get 1 free, or buy 1 get 1 half off). In terms of taste, for self-serve fro-yo places, I’ve only ever been to Kiwi Kraze, Spoon’s and Fritzy’s(in Toronto), so I don’t have much to compare, but Kiwi Kraze fro-yo is less creamy and less smooth than the other places. It tastes to me like there is less«dairy content» in the fro-yo at Kiwi Kraze than the other places, if that makes sense. So it depends on your preferences, if you prefer a more sorbet-like taste then you would like Kiwi Kraze more, if you prefer a more ice-cream-like taste, then you would like Kiwi Kraze less. I prefer a creamier taste, but that’s just me. I do like the German Chocolate Cake flavour and the Peanut Butter flavour. These 2 flavours are the most creamy of the flavours I’ve tried. Their signature flavour is Kiwi Kraze which tastes like a tart kiwi sorbet. Overall, pretty good. I would love it more if all their flavours were as creamy as German Chocolate Cake and Peanut Butter. Worth a try of you are in the Trainyards area.

I happened upon this place accidentally while at the Trainyards, but once I saw it I had to stop in. Yay for more fro-yo in the capital! The staff were friendly and helpful, but they left you on your own to test out the different flavours. This place isn’t as neon as other fro-yo places I have been to, which I quite liked. The vibe is more relaxed – neon tends to make things feel more up-tempo. The café(restaurant, store? not sure what to call it) was very clean. There were no remnants of spilled frozen yogurt or crumbs impinging on the homes of other toppings. I could tell the fruit section was kept at an appropriate temperature and the almost bubble gum machine-like tubes for sprinkles and chocolate chips was fun and hygienic! Kiwi Kraze also had a great selection of flavours and toppings. Plus they have these great ‘flavour dividers’, graham crackers, totally ingenious. Some details: — Kiwi Kraze is located at the Trainyards by the Five Guys — Loyalty stamp card of sorts – spend so much money and you get $ 5 off a fro-yo — They do have a freezer of pre-packaged fro-yo for takeaway — It’s fun! You should try it
