This is a great place, I love the wings and Wing Night Tuesday’s. My friends and family are always blown away when we take them along. Service is good too and it isn’t usually too busy which is nice.

I only went to Jonny Canuck’s once and maybe my choice of food(a salad) wasn’t the best for what is essentially a sports bar. I will say though that the steak salad was probably the worst I have ever eaten with no redeeming elements. The precooked and warmed up in the microwave steak was bad(I should have suspected something was up when they didn’t ask me how I wanted the steak). The tomatoes were hard(okay, it is winter time but still). The lettuce had a weird taste and there was next to no dressing. All in all, it was just bad and I strongly recommend people to stay away from that salad. I didn’t have a beer but they seemed to have a good selection. My friend ordered a wrap with fries and he seemed to enjoy it. Mostly everyone else seemed to be ordering pub food(onion rings, etc.). The only other thing I can mention is that it was a bit cool inside(again, it was winter but I wouldn’t want to sit near the window). Parking wasn’t bad for a Thursday night but it is in a strip mall and as there is a gym, I could see parking being tight sometimes. I guess my advice is to go in with pretty low expectations and to stick with the basics. Personally though, I can’t see myself going back.

This was the worst customer service(or lack, thereof) I have experienced in a long time. From the moment we walked in it all went downhill. This was our 1st time & we were neither greeted promptly nor appropriately by Sam«the hostess»(not«with the mostest»…nerd joke). Instead of grabbing us the free bar chairs that were clearly within all of our visual spans, Sam took one look at us, then the bar/dining area & decided there was no more room for 2 more. oh, OKTHEN… thanks, I guess we’ll just go home then… not. I suggested we use the free chairs by the bar, she shrugged her shoulders, & disappeared somewhere else. Thanks there, hostess(beware, lots of passive aggressive sarcasm in this review). I was still unnerved & appalled at the way we were so rudely dismissed so easily & then — ITHAPPENED. The bartender from hell appeared before us, mean mugging& all. We were not offered food menus. We were not offered drink menus. It would take several attempts to get his attention just to request the food & bar menu. Now, I’ll take into consideration it was busy & he was the sole bartender, but this dude did not smile the whole night & any eye contact we received must have been a spontaneous blessing on his part because otherwise we were made to feel invisible — like walking wallets. When visiting a new bar, I sometimes like to ask for cocktail/shot recommendations but this fella was not havin’ it. His attitude the whole night was very much«tell me wut u want quickly so I can get as far away from u as possible». That’s a new dimension of coldness that I haven’t experienced before. Either he wasn’t too fond of us personally or he’s just thrown in the towel & stopped hiding his bitter disdain for his job. Either way, I don’t care. Show some courtesy for goodness sake, you’re in the service & hospitality industry! Food: Wings are all the rage according to previous reviews & tips, but hunny, let me tell you, these wings couldn’t get more run-of-the-mill if you tried. We really didn’t understand all the hype surrounding it. 15 minutes before the kitchen closed the bartender notified the crowd(hesitantly, & with all the disdain one could muster via their face) & yelled out«so does any one need anything?» He waited literally 10 seconds before giving the go-ahead to shut it down. Within a minute I asked him if we could just get a dessert but nope that was out of the question. Silly me for asking. It’s not like the kitchen was scheduled to be open another 10 min, right?!! I want to use a superlative so bad here but I must be strong ughhhh, & hold back. Thankfully, the main Jon Jones vs Cormier UFC fight came on after midnight & we could enjoy the show a bit. But I found it kind of weird that ½ the crowd left for the feature fight — that was slightly confusing so it just made for a poor lacklustre atmosphere. Why stay for the D list fights but go home when reigning champion Jon Jones comes out, not to mention the city is in the middle of a huge snowstorm, on a Saturday, in Barrhaven? OK! To each his own… So, once we were ready to leave, I decided that I would express to the supervisor what a poor experience we had that night. I had read a review for Tailgators a week prior & recalled a tip noting how Tailgators establishment encourages customer feedback & prefers to be notified before posting a negative review(I guess cuz they care what their customers think maybe?) So, I was all like, «u know what man? I’m gonna cut Jonny Canucks some slack & notify the supervisor about this crap night we’ve been having instead of slingin mud behind their back!» That was a waste of effort because the bartender from hell had suddenly become the supervisor from hell(lucky me!) & his response was«it’s too bad we felt we received poor customer service» but hey, such is life, eh? What can u do? It’s really too bad it didn’t work out because the bar is in a super location for new Barrhaven & that little area needs as much cool points as it can get. Sadly, you won’t find them at this ratchet hole in the wall. Try going further down the road to either Longfields, Greenbank, or the Riocan Marketplace where there’s a never ending cluster of bars that 1) serve good food &2) appreciate your support & hard earned money &3) express said customer appreciation through stellar customer service. I recommend Barley mows, Kelsey’s restaurant, Greenfield’s, that bar next to Little Caesars that used to have great breakfast(haven’t been there in years though), etc. Or take a little drive to Tailgators or Dooly’s or any pub on Elgin street to catch the game/PPV event. Just do yourself a favor & avoid settling for this joint. Trust me, you can do better than Johnny Canuck’s.

LOVETHEFOOD! Their dining area is super tiny & my group is usually loud so this is literally the only negative for me. That being said, this is my children’s favorite place to eat out though I find it best to go well before the sports bar crowd arrive. Food is absolutely incredible. Every time ! Try their famous poutine or sweet potato fries. Or their potato skins, burgers, chicken –any of their menu items are divine!

This place makes me happy. I will preface this review with the fact that I grew up in Ottawa, but live in the States now. This tends to make me an extra sucker for all things from the homeland, and luckily my American other half loves playing tourist up north. So when a friend took us somewhere we could order things like an «Egg McBeaver,» a «Bob & Doug» or a «Degrassi» for brunch, it kind of made both our days. But this place is more than Canadian stereotypes and quirky menu items(breakfast poutine? yes!). While I can only speak for the breakfast menu, the food is delicious and there are plenty of diverse options. The service was fast and friendly and the prices were reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised by such quality food at what appeared to be a sports bar. Usually when a place calls itself a «bar & grill» it tends to be more«bar» than«grill,» but that’s not the case here! Not many places pull off appealing to both the morning and night crowds, but these guys have done it.

Appetizers seem packaged. Burgers are good. Guinness on tap makes up for a lot. Great neighborhood pub.
