Fireplace West is a premier gas contractor, in business over 30 years. We are two people, Connor Whiteside and myself, Robin Hetherington. We supply and install gas fireplaces, gas inserts and gas stoves. We are an Ontario Fuels Safety Contractor, FS R0076507292 and are both licensed for Natural Gas and Propane.

Robin Hetherington, FW’s owner, has a background in furniture making and as a heating contractor in new home construction. We are unique. We not only rough in gas fireplaces and stoves but offer framing, finished drywall, stone and other finishes.

Napoleon, Vermont Castings and Regency are the brands we love to install. Our focus is on Canadian and North American made, quality and products.

We DO NOT have a store but do have a great interactive site, fire​placewest​.ca. The shopping experience is online Lite. We DO HAVE great personal service.

History

Established in 1981.

Fireplace West was rebranded in 2012 from Robin’s Country Heating. It was customer driven relflecting the quality of our fireplace projects.

At the start of our career, we made pine furniture and fireplace mantels to keep my brother and I at school. I for sure don’t remember a lot of money for the effort. That eventually got us into new home heating and wood fireplace sales and installations.

We have now come full circle, removing the fireplaces that we installed in the 80’s and 90’s. It’s time. Many of the chimneys are rusting from the inside out like our cars and should be condemned as a fire hazard.

I’m Robin Hetherington, the owner of Fireplace West. I’m a resident of West Carleton. My wife and I live in the same home that we personally built in 1979. See HISTORY «I for sure don’t remember a lot of…».

I’m a multi fuel G2 gas tech, a sheet metal journeyman and have a BA from Guelph.

I always enjoy our work and find now that the shopping experience from FW has introduced us to a lot a great people and more than a few new friends.
