PEI wool is renowned. This place sells many great woolen articles — one, in particular, is the«Coyle» sweater(Kevin Spacey’s character is the adaptation of «The Shipping News»). Many options to choose from, including caps and throws. The fishermen’s sweaters are great. Not for TLH weather, alas, but for chillier climes.

Traveling through gorgeously rural Price Edward Island, we stopped by this small roadside shop in the picturesque village of North Rustico. The stock of wool sweaters is amazingly varied and seemed to us of the highest quality, most everything hand-woven by PEI artisans or those on nearby islands. The workmanship drew us, and the comfort delighted us. There was no lack of choices(and all sizes represented). And Kathy, who owns the shop, was most helpful and chatty. We wanted one of the Quoyle sweaters(knitted for Kevin Spacey in the film«The Shipping News») and while she did not have my size available — they are very popular and made in only small numbers — she promised to ship it to us when ready. The prices are fair; these are not inexpensive sweaters for the most part, but again, their quality is very high. North Rustico is on the north coast on PEI, less than an hour from Charlottetown and close to the Anne of Green Gables sites, so it’s easy to get yo and well worth your time if you are looking for a terrific wool sweater.
