I enjoy a great deal, and if you are looking for cheap Christmas presents, this place is a total miss; UNLESS you want to get everyone an ornament that costs $ 5.00+. The Pier 1 on Merivale is appealing to the eye, but I was scared to pick up items and then find out that it was out of my budget. The store itself is crammed with merchandise, and if you end up going in there with bags from previous stores, your purse and a bulky winter jacket, you will probably end up knocking into a lot of things, just like I did. :) I ended up finding one present on my gift list; a scented sachet that my father wanted(cute eh), and decided I might as well pick up 2 ornaments for the hell of it. The markup on Christmas items were INSANE. Actually, the markups on most of the items there were INSANE! I am sure the quality may be there on some products, but unless you are rolling in money, who’d pay those prices? Overall, there were plenty of staff on the sales floor, one right at the door. If you want to avoid the associate, take a quick left and head to the kitchen gear. If you want to hear all about their deals or if you are looking for something in particular, feel free to walk straight through those doors! I don’t want to give Pier 1 less than a 3 star because they are doing most of it right: –Plenty of staff on the sales floor and a main cashier –Gorgeous Christmas items, and pretty much gorgeous everything else… But the prices turn me off and a lot of the items resemble a favorite place of mine called HomeSense, which would be my first choice before Pier 1 due to the fact that it is a cheaper alternative for many who are on a tight budget but still want classy, chic items! Therefore Pier 1 gets and A-OK, and I envy you all who can afford to shop there! ;)
