If you know anything about the Muskoka Lakes region of Canada, you know it ain’t a big shopping or dining mecca. What little shopping there is is usually dominated by Riot, Skirt, and Willy’s — cheesy hoodie-and-ironic-tee-type places that cater to a tween crowd and require much patience for rack-scouring in order to find the few hidden gems. Not so at Ditto. Oh, Ditto. A little fashion haven in a little tucked-away spot right on Bala’s main drag featuring UK brands like Fenchurch and merc. A unique, prettily-laid-out, well-priced boutique playing Bob Marley and not Gaga or Bieber at top volume — hence the 5-stars. For Muskoka, this place really is as good as it gets. You can find swim wear, sundresses, flip-flops, board shorts, mini-skirts, tote bags, leggings, sweatshirts, button-downs, home-goods, accessories, and jewelry, all packed colorfully under Ditto’s tiny roof. And best of all, it’s run by gorgeous, friendly local gal Kayla L’Ecuyer, who grew up around Muskoka and now splits her time between here and Toronto. She is exceedingly gracious and accommodating, happy to answer any and all questions. She spent a good 20 minutes chatting with husband and me about how she got her start(just last year), how business is going, and where to get our local on in Muskoka. She also makes all the jewelry on display herself *and* is actively involved in the Save the Bala Falls campaign. Bonus.
