There is no other place I swear by to get my hair cut in Montréal. I have gone to Aveda twice in the past 8 months since residing in Montréal. Their hair cuts are pretty cheap if you get the academy student to cut it for you. It comes to about $ 20 and they wash and condition your hair with Aveda products. Students take a bit longer to cut your hair since they have to wait for their instructors’ permission to perform each step prior and after the haircut. A typical haircut is around 2 hours. but it’s definitely worth it! When you get to the salon, you check in (it is better to call and make an appointment than showing up there since they don’t have many availabilities last minute) and there is self serve tea and coffee. Your hairdresser comes down and brings you to their station. They ask you if you would like anything to drink and then begin asking you what you would want to get done today. After deciding, they massage your scalp with Aveda branded essential hair oil and then give you a back and shoulder massage. Once the massage is done, they wash and condition your hair. Finally. they cut and blow-​dry your hair. I have received many compliments after getting my hair done there and my hair feels and smells great after my haircut. If you don’t know where to get you hair cut, come to Aveda!
TIP: They take SPC, so students get a 10% discount!

J’ y fait faire ma coloration depuis pres de 1an avec Audrey. Elle prends le temps de conseiller et ma couleur est toujours belle. Service sympatique et super massage du cuir chevelu.

Loved this salon. Lots of stylists at different price points (discuss this when booking your appt), so they could see two of us within the day. Great massage, shampoo, excellent conversation about the style, no product upsell. I had Karen, so pleased with the experience and the result. Took 1 and ¾ hours, $ 85, very worthwhile. I’ll make sure I need a haircut next time I visit Montréal.

I don’t write reviews often at all but I know how when it comes to hair we really rely on them. I got a hair cut done by Becka the other day. I was nervous. She’s a junior stylist which means less experienced but the price is less expensive than a senior stylist… but this haircut impressed me more than the ones I’ve gotten in the past from senior stylists there!
Of course it’s still kind of on the pricey side but you’re paying for the aveda experience. Fancy herbal tea or coffee, shoulder and head massage, oh and the fancy blow drying. That all goes into the price as much as the cut.
As for getting hair color … I probably wouldn’t trust anyone there other than Jolianne to dye my hair. She’s probably got the senior price but I wouldn’t take chances when it comes to getting my hair colored. Last year She fixed a mistake on my hair that a different stylist had made. she is skilled. I plan on going to her for an ombré style when I have it in my budget.

So I got my haircut done here a few days ago and the compliments are coming in WAVES. A lovely guy named Ivan, a true professional with curly hair, cut and styled it for me as well as taught me how to manage it from now on.
He was very precise, he will deliver exactly what you ask for and he is damn skilled at it. I have never looked like this in my life. I feel fresh, I feel stylish and I feel good. Thank you Ivan and Aveda!
The place itself is very clean and cozy. Expect an amazing pampering experience with friendly staff.

I visited the «Aveda Montréal Lifestyle Salon Spa & Academy» today and I was very pleased with the service. I find it very difficult to find a hair salon and let a stranger play with my hair, I often give them «carte blanche» because I can poorly imagine what would look good on my own face. Every so often we get disapointed with the result anyway, but thankfully our hair grows back !
Fortunately enough, Aveda delievered! I received a haircut by Angela for the cost of 45 $. Starting off with a peppermint oil massage on a «bed» then shampoo. I have to say, Aveda’s product always smell so delightful, it’s most likely their most fantastic feature and my favorite part of the appointment.
I came in to reshape a short cut/​bob haircut and change my bangs. The cut itself took roughly 45mins including drying. I’m overall very satisfied with the result. The salon was very busy but very clean.
The only negative thing that I would have to say about my visit is that as a customer, I expect the stylist/​hairdresser to give ideas, brainstorm with me and let me know what would look best on me and I received none of that today. Also, the promo code which was available on Unilocal app (15 $ off) was not accepted as it only applies to Insitutes and not academies,
Would go back again.

Is Audrey. However I ended up paying 220 $ and j didn’t get the color I want I wanted to die my hair blond but she told me since my hair was dark it needs to be done through steps. What I didn’t like its the long time it takes them to finish the task .she had to alternate between me and another client and she had to ask a student to blow dry my hair. Even thigh I paid for professional service. When they wash your hair they massage you and they ask you to lay down and relax. This is my experience at aveda it was ok but I wouldn’t go back !! It’s not work the high prices

I had Isaeve and for the first time of my life i got out a hairsalon with a natural blond! No yellow or gray highlights! I really liked her and im so excited for my appointment of tomorrow, just cant wait to tell her how great she is.

Very attentive staff. Had my haircut by Karen who did an excellent job, suggested a nice style without being pushy and took the time to listen to my comments for what I was looking for.
Will be back next time I am in town.

J’ai eu la meilleure pédicure et manucure de ma vie! Ambiance relax et décontractée. Massage pour les pieds et les mains divin lors du traitement. Bön choix de vernis et personnel professionnels. On prend vraiment soin d’expliquer les étapes du traitement lorsque c’est votre première fois au salon.
Lors qu’on y sort, on se sent zen et détendu. Demandez Laura, elle est super!
Ça vaut vraiment la peine de payer un peu plus cher pour un bon service, je suis très satisfaite et je vais revenir dans le futur.

La coupe avec Mary et la coloration avec Dominique c’est parfait! Et que dire du lavage de cheveux /​massage de cuir chevelu et épaules qui détendent follement!

For 45 $ you get a wash, cut and massage with their special oils. I got the mint one and it smelled great. My hairdresser Rhianna was really cool and nice. She even spend a little extra time to show me how to take care of my hair.
The whole place was clean and bright. I would definitely go back.

My go to hair salon in montreal!
I made an appointment around 4 days before my appointment, and I asked for the student deal (a student at the hairdressing academy cut my hair), which is offered on Thursdays for $ 20.
I got there around 20 minutes early, but there are a couple of comfy chairs to sit in while you wait
My hairdresser was friendly and accommodating.
She washed my hair and also gave a complimentary head/​neck massage, which was very relaxing.
Im very satisfied with my haircut and the great service, especially for such a low price!

I have been looking for a hair place in Montréal for a while. I usually go for alternative small salons, but since I am new to the city, I decided to play safe and booked an appointment at the Aveda Spa.
I was seeing on time, after my consultation with Emily, someone wash my hair and gave me a peppermint scented head/​neck/​shoulder massage. That was a treat! Emily understood what I wanted and I really like my haircut. She was very friendly, clearly knows what she is doing and she styled my hair in a pretty cool way.
Very good experience, everyone was friendly, from begining to end. I paid $ 80 after taxes plus tipping, I believe that’s a fair price. The décor of the place is ok, but really who cares when you have such a great experience!

Two things need to be said:
1) I’m glad i read the reviews.
2) I punish myself for not going there from the start.
I needed to correct my hair color and after carefully reading each review, i decided to take the leap and try it out.
Not only did they correct the color of my hair, they listened to my needs and gave me some good advice so i don’t damage it.
Go you guys. Im sticking with it. And I’m happy that i found a salon that i can call «my own».
I should ad that its clean, friendly, cozy and they give the best massages while washing your hair.
Also, the prices are normal.

I have never went to a salon where a student colours my hair. To be honest I was very nervous but when I got there the student was very confident about my hair and really knew what she was doing. Very friendly, nice and cheap !! Very good price and she got my dark hair very light in an hour on the first try. Definitely going back and I recommend all of you to go as well

J’ai pris rendez-​vous avec l’académie pour une coupe. On m’a attribué une place à 15 h et une coiffeuse du nom de Tina. Une heure et quart avant, j’ai été prévenue par téléphone que les élèves avaient eu un examen et du retard, repoussant donc mon rendez-​vous à 16 h.
Une fois sur place, une dame à l’accueil a pris mon nom et mon manteau, puis m’a proposé de patienter dans le coin dédié avec thé et eau à disposition. J’ai été appelée en même temps qu’une autre fille, et confusion: elle a eu la coiffeuse Tina à ma place et à mon grand désespoir.
La coiffeuse que j’ai récupérée, était d’une lenteur scandaleuse. Elle né semblait pas concentrée, écoutait et regardait les coiffeurs d’à côté. J’ai été aux bacs à shampoing avant l’autre fille et je suis repartie après elle.
Puis pour la première étape de la coupe qui consistait seulement à couper les pointes, ça a dû durer 30 minutes. Je baillais tellement que la coiffeuse s’est proposée de me ramener un thé, et même pour ça j’ai dû attendre.
Deuxième étape, la formatrice a indiqué la technique à appliquer. Partant de la raie, il fallait couper mèches par mèches et ramener chaque mèche de l’autre côté de la raie. Arrivée quand tous mes cheveux n’étaient que d’un côté et que je devais tenir la position en penchant la tête, ma coiffeuse s’est arrêtée et a attendu la formatrice pour lui demander quelque chose. Je né sais pas trop ce qu’elle lui a dit, mais la formatrice lui a répondu qu’elle voulait lui parler et toutes deux se sont éloignées.
Ça sentait le roussi pour ma coiffeuse, si bien que quand elle est revenue, elle a fait ses affaires et est partie. La manager m’a expliqué qu’elle avait eu une «situation» avec la coiffeuse et que c’est elle qui allait terminer ma coupe. Elle était désolée pour moi, sachant qu’en plus c’était ma première expérience chez Aveda. Et là c’est allé beaucoup plus vite.
J’ai eu le droit à un brushing par une autre formée, et je pense que je n’aurais pas pu avoir plus plat. Allô, c’était quoi cette technique de séchage là ?! Au final j’ai eu une coupe acceptable, mais rien de fou. Chez Toni & Guy Paris, je me fais coiffer gratuitement à l’académie et j’ai une coupe tendance et recherchée. Mais visiblement ici les écoles de coiffure c’est cher et pourri.
Ensuite je me suis faite maquiller pour la première fois par une make-​up artist, je né savais pas que c’était compris dans les 23 $. Je n’ai jamais maquillé mes sourcils, eh bien là j’ai été servie. On aurait dit les gros sourcils de Cara Delevingne, pas trop à mon goût.
Enfin je suis descendue payer. J’ai montré à la dame mon check-​in Unilocal pour obtenir mon «free Aveda sample», et elle n’a pas tout compris de l’opération. Elle m’a laissé libre choix sur ce que je voulais. Et j’ai réalisé que tout le monde pouvait demander le sample, avec ou sans Unilocal.Et dire que j’étais venue exprès pour ça, en pensant faire une affaire.
Le seul point positif, c’est que toutes les coiffeuses étaient complètement folles de mon ombré, me versant un flot de compliments. J’ai même eu l’avis d’une experte: «I’m a colorist and it’s very beautiful.» De quoi rebooster mon égo.

To begin, I’d like to say that Audrey is a GENIUS in hairdying. I came in for a consultation and I was super nervous because I had never dyed my hair before. However, by the time I left, I was confident that she knew exactly what I wanted. Later, at my appointment, Audrey checked in with me the whole way until my hair was exactly what I wanted. As if that wasn’t enough, her and Debbie (her assistant) were absolutely LOVELY and made my long day at the salon so pleasant.
Unfortunately, my day ended with a theft. When I walked into the store, the person at the front desk offered to take my coat to hang it up in the back. I gave them my coat without emptying the pockets. When I got my coat back, the pockets had been emptied– my wallet had been stolen. The staff was somewhat helpful by offering to look at the security cameras (which didn’t point towards the area of the store where they keep customers’ coats/​bags…). Since I was void my form of payment, they let me leave with the promise that I will come back and pay. I will certainly go back since I was so pleased with the services they provided BUT DO NOT LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES OUT OF SIGHT.

I am very specific when it comes to my haircut. I’m new in Montréal; I’m an international graduate student. The first thing that I did when I received my offer admission at McGill was search for a good place to get a haircut (this is 5 months before the start of the term). I have a list of places to check out but since I wanna get it right at first try, I went to the top-​rated salon on Unilocal in the city.
When I showed up yesterday for my appointment, the receptionist took my coat and umbrella (it was raining) and showed me to the lounge. She then gave me a cup of tea while waiting for my stylist to be ready. My stylist was (is) Danielle. She’s a very cool and chill gal. We went up to her station and the first thing that she asked was what I wanted to do with my hair. I told her I wanted to get a shorter, textured (and thinned out — my hair gets very thick) haircut with a fringe. I came in with a slick back hair. I then showed her a couple of pictures for inspiration. These are pics from Burberry campaigns. I really dig Matt Mulhull’s work on men’s hair for Burberry. It’s a cross between preppy and edgy hair — short on the sides, «not to made up», very nonchalant.
Danielle then went and cut my hair while we were talking about music festivals and the best bars to check out in town. After cutting most of my hair, we went ahead and washed it. The head and shoulder massage was amazing too! After that, she dried my hair and styled it a bit.
I then made some suggestions: I want a more defined line between the longer top part of the hair and the shorter length on the sides. So she went ahead and did that. She is very skilled! She was paying attention to the way my hair falls on the front and made tweaks here and there. After she was done, I was very happy!
Overall I am extremely satisfied. I have already booked my next appointment. The bonus is that I get a free trim every two weeks. Very great deal! The cut was ~70 plus tip!

I haven’t had a haircut in a little more than 5 years so choosing where to have my hair done was very tricky. I found this place thru Unilocal.
I was quite anxious but the staff was very helpful and nice (can’t complain!). I set up my appointment over the phone and it went smoothly. I have mentioned that I’m a bit nervous as I haven’t had a haircut for years but I was assured by Patrick, the receptionist, that I’ll be in good hands. (True enough, I was!)
I arrived 5 or 10 minutes early for my appointment. The lady receptionist was nice, she got my name, offered me something to drink and went on to see my stylist after. I didn’t wait for too long as my stylist came to see me right away.
Mary (my WONDERFUL stylist) was very friendly and very reassuring too. We discussed what I want done. I told her I’d like to donate my hair and I have no idea though of any style that would be nice. She helped me with that. I loved what she did and oh! I have had so many compliments about my haircut.
Overall, it was a good experience. I would definitely go back and I would recommend the place too. :)

I was very nervous going because of past bad experiences with hair stylists (read: I haven’t seen one in 10 years), and I was going for a big change — chopping off 8 inches of hair and dyeing my virgin hair.
Amber was incredibly reassuring and calm and did such an incredible job. She matched my colour so perfectly that my own mother could barely tell difference, except that my hair look healthier, brighter and full of life. Amber never rushed me, took her time, and was extremely sensitive to my needs. She wasn’t overtly chatty, but I am pretty quiet anyway, plus anxious, so it worked out perfectly.
The other hairstylists were friendly as well, which put me at ease, and I never felt as just a client.

I have never given a negative review to anything even if I don’t receive the service I’m expecting but this time is different. I am a dark skin brunette and I wanted to get colour and highlights to compliment my skin tone and do something special for my Engagement party.
When asked on the phone the level of colorist I wanted I answered «Expert» thinking I couldn’t go wrong with this. I can compromise on a cut but not on colour ! I haven’t coloured my hair in over a year because I was taking care of it and now it’s dryer and lifeless than I’ve ever had it.
The colorist’s name is Zoey and she’s a very nice person but she just didn’t seem to understand what I wanted at all. I kept repeating I was expecting a deep Caramel Brown with Highlights.

You can imagine the shock and disdainful looks everyone is giving me, imagine a dark skinned girl with Bronze Hair with Blonde Highlights. It’s completely rediculous and my Engagement party is less than a week away.
I booked an appointment in another salon, came strongly recommended by a colleague to fix this mess.
My hair would have been coloured 4 times in 10 days time.
I called the reception and the only thing they said they could offer was another coloration with the same colorist, I obviously said no. I was denied a refund and even a store credit for hydration products since my hair is completely damaged now.
They lost me forever and I would advise anyone I know not to go there and use the styling or colouring services. And what kind of Hair salon doesn’t include a Mise en Plis in their price now ?
BE VIGILANT AND PUT YOUR MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I found this place on Unilocal and it was pretty great!
I was a bit nervous 1) cause I’m really picky about my hair and this was a new saloon and new stylist 2) I had grown my hair out to donate so I was going from waist length hair to chin length 3) it’s a school you never know how good the person would be.
So I arrived 10 mins early the receptionist downstairs was tres snobberiffic. I couldn’t book the treatment I wanted until I had a consultation– at which point I found out they don’t do blowout but flat perms :(After my consultation I met my stylist Karen. Karen was awesome she totally put me at ease — we discussed my cut and my hair routine.
After I got wash which include a wonderful head and shoulder massage… I don’t remember the name of the girl that did my wash but she was so nice … Oh and it’s down right sinful that you get to laid down all comfy while they wash your hair!
After that I got a short tour of the school including the spa and such–
Karen was wonderfully chatty without being overbearing or overly nosy I would dive toy recommend booking her if she is open :)
After the cut she blew dry and styled my hair she also took time to show the easiest way to achieve the same look at home.

I just stepped out of the best massage of my life. I don’t think I’ve been this relaxed in months, and I don’t think I will be again until my next visit. Seriously, my eyes are half closed — pretty sure people think I’m stoned. Although the fact that I just ordered a full English breakfast probably doesn’t help.
If you’re wondering who to get a massage from, I’d recommend Gina. Again, it’s only my first time there, but I wouldn’t go back for anyone else.

Yesterday was my first time ever for a facial at Aveda. The salon is really nice and clean. The spa is on the top floor and it is very quiet and relaxing. The staff is super friendly, they offered me tea (and I dont even like tea but this one was really good). The girl who took care of me was Eva. She is super nice and friendly, and she did a fantastic job. She makes you feel very relaxed and comfortable and her massages are amazing. The facial was 70 $+tip. My face is usually extremely red after a facial because I have very sensitive skin, but yesterday was not bad at all. The extractions doesn’t hurt compared to other places. The only cons would be that the don’t extract milia around the eyes, and I would have liked a deeper extraction. Very good experience overall. I will definitely be back!
*UPDATED:
All the skin products I bought (cleanser, moisturizer, toner and essential oil) gave me really bad allergic reactions. Be careful if you have sensitive skin as a big number of Aveda products contain lavender. Lavender is NOT good for sensntive skin EVER. I had a terrible rash all over my face for 3 weeks. I could return the products but they gave me a gift card, not cash back. Now I have 150 $ in an Aveda card that most likely I’ll give to someone because I am not going to use any of their products ever again. So be careful if you have sensitive skin. Try little samples before buying any skincare product.

J’ai découvert Aveda en arrivant au Canada et j’adore. J’y vais pour mes coupes (Mélodie), mes soins de peau (Eva) et le maquillage, soit dit en passant la leçon personnalisée de 2h avec Léa est fantastique.
À chaque fois que je passé la porte je suis dans un autre monde. J’achète mes produits chez eux ainsi que mon maquillage, rien à redire. Le concept est top, tous les produits sont naturels et non testés sur les animaux. Les prix des produits sont un élevés mais au moins on sait ce qu’on a sur le visage.
