A decent pub, the food here is good. Especially the fries. Staff is superb, very friendly and attentive. It is one of the better pubs uptown.

Let’s call it a 3.5÷5 Tasty pub food on a beautiful summer evening on a rooftop patio. The views not amazing– but being off the ground floor makes a difference. But for colder weather they do have indoor seating of course — which is decorated all nice and in theme with the British flare and Owls. It’s cute with owls and the Union Jack running over the place. A group of us tried the veggie burger and Fish and Chips. Both were great. Fried fish = good Chips= good crispy and yum. Great service, polite staff and fast. They do take reservations for bigger groups. I’d come here again, for something a little different in the Markham area.

Part of the Firkin chain, this location is one of the better ones! I have been here many times over the years and the food is consistently good. The service is also friendly and they have some good daily specials. The best thing about this place is the rooftop patio! Uptown, there aren’t many good patios and I would say this probably one of the best. They also have a ground floor patio if the roof top is not open(I think it is closed during the lunch time and if it is too windy). Also lots of TVs if you want to watch a game here.

Our server was friendly and made sure to come back when we told her we needed time to think. The server that we had after(our original server left) was inattentive and took a while to get to our table. Half pint beer was pretty cheap, at around at around $ 3.15. My overall take on Owl? Meh.

Had dinner at firkin last night for our last ultimate league game. We were able to get free nachos with the size of the group. Free always taste better. The nachos was a little bit on the dry side. Baked a little too much I think but the guac made it better. Had the Cobb salad. I’m always used to having creamy dressing with my Cobb. This night it was not the case. It was mixed with some kind of vinaigrette which was OK. The bacon was good and the salad overall was OK. The place itself had a good vibe but waitresses had a bitchy face. If combination but since we got deals from our league it made it not to bad.

I came here for lunch with some coworkers. We ordered a variety of items. The deep fried pickles and calamari are great. I ordered a cobb salad, which was HUMUNGOUS. That was also tasty. We sat out on the main floor patio, which was nice enough. Service is friendly. It’d be a good place to check out after work, when we can actually enjoy a beer. Also, there’s a rooftop patio that was completely full, so we didn’t get to check it out. The place shares a parking lot with a small office building, so there wasn’t a ton of available parking at lunch time.

Not many patio places in This part of Markham so it’s a nice little spot. Coming from 404 south it’s a little hidden and easily missed. It’s typical pubfare and a nice place to stop by for a quick patio drink during the summer.

Sucks we didn’t enjoy ourselves here because its around the corner from my house so would’ve loved to have a go to spot when i felt like staying within the area. I’ll give it a 2 stars because i do like the place plus i was with awesome company(my crazy ass girlfriend) but thats where it stops. Our waitress looked like she just wanted to do her job and go home. So no smiling, no small talk, or any type of interactions. It felt more like a «what do yo want» type of a situation. We started the order with two beers, which took 15 mins to come. Now i’m a pretty understanding person so if i see its busy, i get it except it was past midnight and the spot was fairly empty. This is not an item you have to cook, its a simple pour and serve which should never take that long to serve. We then ordered some food as we felt like having some junk so opted for the fish and chip, then substituted the fries for their spud(poutine). No complaints with the poutine(we devoured it), which is probably because that was the only thing we had which we could tolerate. The fish seemed microwaved which it probably was… Yes it was that bad. Don’t get me started on the coleslaw, so gross. I had one bite before spitting it onto my napkin. I really feel like someone cancelled their food order so the fish was sitting around and warmed up and served to us. You’ll never catch me back here for the food.

okay so the only reason this place is getting 2 stars from me is because of the ambiance, if i was to return it would be for drinks ONLY. I rarely write reviews while I am out — however I’m pretty disappointed with the food I got. when you’re hungry at 1am and you want junk food at a bar, you’d expect some quality. the fish & chips is what I ordered. the fish came out tasting like it was microwaved warm. the coleslaw tasted full of mayo the small side of poutine I got was the only tasty item. pretty upsetting. we ordered beers, and they took 10 mins to come out when the place is relatively empty. why I would come back for drinks? it’s a 5 minute drive from my boyfriends’ place.

Had to come back for a second night on this trip, I may even come back for a third. The place is a nice pub with English style food and flair. The décor is pretty upbeat and there are plenty of TVs in the place to catch a game on. I had to come back for the poutine. Although this will be my second time having it ever, it is awesome here since they use a Guinness Gravy. I also got the Shepard’s pie which was also very delicious. I prefer my own to this, but it is a close second(possibly third) and I have had plenty of Shepard’s pies

My go-to place all the time. Great pub environment if you just want to grab a beer and chill with a couple of friends and have a good time. They have an upstairs patio that is open during the summer, hidden gem right there. Staff are friendly; service is fast and attentive. My favourite spot is the big couch in front of the TV, cozy spot!

Here for St. Party’s Day. Had to ask for beer to be green and my friend had lipstick on his glass but they fixed it up, the burger and sandwich portions were good and large(except for the Irish nachos were was tasty but small for $ 12). We had a group of 6 on a pretty busy St. Patty’s day evening with pretty good service. Festive décor and music.

I am not a sandwich lover… However I dream about their, pot roast sandwich. The Jalapeño ali, is awesome. Also their French onion soup is amazing, hearty broath with nicely cooked onions, coveredbin cheese. Irish nachos… Lattice fries and cheese… Hell yes. Service is always fast and accurate. TV’s are there for events but not too loud or distracting. Stay true to a modern British feel.

The Owl and FIrkin has gone through some positive changes since the last time I came here, and based on feedback from friends who’ve recentely visited this bar. Probably one of the better pubs that are just north of the city, and specifically in Markham. logistically, it being right off Highway 404 and Steeles it’s very convenient to get to, but can be easily missed. Parking is convenient and there’s plenty of space avialable here, especially on a Saturday night. The Owl features daily specials for food and drinks, and Saturday we took advantage of their $ 5 Rickards/Creemore Pints. Food is pretty good, and they keep it simple British pub-style type of food which is important! Simple is good! The layout of the place is nice, open concept, and easy to walk around. MOst of all a lot more bright interior, with a dart board, plenty of tv’s, in comparison to the old, dark, and grungy style this place used to be. The Owl is definitely my go-to now. its close and the peeps are friendly!

Probably the best pub I’ve ever been to. Service is good, food comes fast and is surprisingly really good for bar food. They always have alot of specials everyday. My favourite is the $ 5 steam whistle special

Had the fish and chips. Pretty ok, lots of fries! However I wish they would turn the music down, left there with a headache! Second time there, order wings and fries. Wings were ok, again lots of fries! But now it seemed the music was even louder!!! And again left with a headache. Not to mention having to strain to hear my friend speak!!! Turn the freakin music down!!!

As far as pubs go north of Toronto, this is one of the better ones. The Owl has been around for many years and has had a few makeovers and changes to their menu. The menu is typical British pub fare done well. They have a good selection of draft beers including a couple Toronto craft beers. There’s a good sized patio and also an upstairs outdoor section.

I came here for dinner and ordered the butter chicken pie. I wasn’t expecting much from this pub but it was surprisingly good! The butter chicken actually tasted like butter chicken and the crust of the pie was done well. The vegetables were delicious and the only thing I didn’t like was the mashed potato but I don’t like mashed potato to begin with. I would definitely come back here when I’m craving pub food.
