Price is reasonable compared to other AYCE restaurants. The price includes the basic drinks — tea and or soda. Food is fresh and good, and has variety. The place is clean; service is fast enough compared to other AYCE places here. I just like their original location better — it was bigger with more tables for bigger groups. But since they have not increased their price for AYCE(it seems), I guess they were just looking to cut cost on the new location. Overall rating, I would give the new place a 4.5-star just because of the location. My family will frequent this place as before.

I frequented FHHS in it’s old Clayton Park location but a change of location calls for a new review. I took my cute, juniour reviewer with me for his thoughts. He also happens to be a big sushi fan so wouldn’t be left out of this one! The location is off Larry Utech drive in the mall with the Sobeys, Royal Bank etc. A strip mall, is a strip mall really but the old FHHS location was a former private wine store and had some softer, custom touches like wooden beams and floors. The new restaurant is much narrower than the previous location; there is just a row of four person tables in the middle and 2 seaters on the outside. I found we were bumping up against the guests seated at table behind us and to the side. If you look up there is a grey, bare big-box ceiling, with exposed heating, cool and electrical and you could be in any strip mall eatery of dubious quality. The side walls are painted fuchsia and there is a pleasant if pre-fab mural of geisha on one of the sides; other than that there is nothing that says Japan even sushi restaurant here. I was a little early for lunch, and other diners were starting to trickle in, so there were a fair number of tables to choose from. The lunch menu and price for AYCE seemed the same. The AYCE lunch menu is pretty basic and I can understand that they wouldn’t have sashimi but you can’t order tuna nigiri either which gives me a sad face. I ordered tempura, chicken teriyaki beef green onion rolls, veal ribs, a red and green dragon roll, some nigiri and a brace of maki. The tempura came out first. I find it can be hit of miss here and this was a hit. It was fresh out of the fryer hot and crisp and it had been allowed to drain for a second so wasn’t overly oily. I just wish they had other veg than sweet potato; the shrimp were previously frozen but were good quality and cooked just right. The sushi was neatly prepared and the fish– tuna and salmon– I tried in everything was fresh and good quality. My companion gave the green dragon roll two thumbs up and liked it so much he wouldn’t share. I like to try something new from the menu every time I go. This time it was the green onion beef rolls. They were delicious with the beef being wrapped around a whole strip of onion and looked like they’d been made on the spot. I’ll order more, and first next time so I can stick more in my belly. The teriyaki chicken was pretty good too with the gristly chicken bits I sometimes find make up most of the AYCE sushi being absent. We finished things off with the green tea ice cream. After tax and the 10% service charge, that they automatically add to your bill, it came to just under $ 19. Pretty good for lunch for two. My companion ate for free as he is under four. Given his size and amount of sushi he consumed they added a «kid» charge to the bill but when I explained he was still 3 they were cool and removed the charge. I find the 10% service charge odd and finds that leaves me in an uncomfortable limbo land on tipping. TL;DR So, overall not a fan of the new location; it is more like an eat and get out kind of set up where the former place I would be more inclined to stay. However the service was prompt, everything was fresh and I feel you(still) get really good value for your money. Top FHHS tips –a 10% service charge is added to your bill –the food comes out as it is ready– and you might get your appetizers last– just roll with it(see what I did there with«roll»?!) –kids 3 and under eat for free :) –Go for lunch over supper– the later menu doesn’t have that much more options and is $ 10 – 11 more per person(AYCE option)
