Lunch buffet at Zaika is excellent. Great selection of food with all the most popular dishes butter chicken, Chana masala, fresh naan. This restaurant never disappoints very consistent in food quality, buffet is continuously replenished with fresh hot food. The price point is very good at around $ 15. I have also order take out for business lunches several times Highly recommended.

Great food and ambiance. I think this is one of the best values out there. The food, although buffet, does not taste watered down. There is a great assortment of curries, rice, naan, channa masalas, salads, and desserts(did not try dessert though). Great service, and the buffet area was constantly being cleaned and looked after by staff. Also, because it was busy, they kept refilling the food which meant it was probably fresh, rather than stale. All in all, we left stuffed and happy, a good feeling after leaving a restaurant.

This is the only Indian restaurant I would go to. I love the décor in this bistro. Sheik, and modern. Service is very good. Amritsari Fish and Mango Custard highly recommended!

After talking food with an East Indian friend, I decided I’d better try Zaika! I was not disapointed! Indulged in their buffet this evening and was very pleased with the quality and selection of dishes. Both the hot and cold fare is of high quality and seemingly never allowed to run low. The place is very nicely done. The staff are quite friendly. This is indeed the best Indian I have had in the city. I will certainly be talking to my friend for further suggestions!

My wife and I dined at Zaika twice. Once in the evening and the second time for lunch. The buffet selections were almost identical both times and both times the experience was sub-par. Butter chicken with sauce straight out of a tomato soup can. Tasteless fried fish. Goat curry that was pungent and chewy. The only item that was average was the tandoori chicken and naan bread. The management’s attempts to serve cheap questionable food is working. They are taking advantage of local palates who do not know what real Indian food should taste like. We lived in Dubai for 12 years and there were many authentic excellent Indian restaurants serving authentic Indian food. I suppose we were spoiled by the fact. The restaurant that comes closest in Edmonton is Tandoori King on 50th St. and Millwoods Rd. Take the time to dine there and you will not be disappointed.

Best customer service. This is the only Indian buffet which is improving very time you go again in Edmonton. Fish fry is awesome — mutton/goat curry is spicy and fresh. Best ambiance and friendly service makes this place good. Should bring thali and tiffin platter they have class to make it work

I travel a lot for work and constantly eat out, this place is a good place to hang out with friends and all of that but the food is not on par at all. It’s not bad for taking off the shelf masala packets and throwing store bought pre cut veggies together. I do the same way when I get a chance to be home and it tastes about the same. I started eating and while watching TV in my hotel and had to do a reality check where I was because it tasted like my quick and dirty veggies and roti the odd day I’m home.

Zaika, you have totally outdone yourself. I’m sorry that it took me so long to write this, but things got a little crazy after Christmas. However, I’m back in love with Zaika again. We had gone during the summer and they really had an off night. My sister spoke to the owner and she apologised for that. So we decided to try again on Christmas Eve for our family dinner — which we normally do every Eve If you haven’t been to Zaika, I will note that it’s busy even on Christmas Eve! Our service was excellent, we had about 40 – 50 people there and were very well taken care of. The food was back to the superior level that we were used to eating at Zaika. All fresh, all tasty, and all with a hit of spice to it. We look forward to heading back for more of your epic fish pakora!

The place is nicely put together and nice to sit in… good service too… the owner comes in and checks on you herself… however, the food needs major improvement… the buffet tastes like all the other buffets(the bad ones) in town… is there a single supplier to all buffets in town? would like to go because of the atmosphere, but will not until the food improves…

3.5 stars We came here on a recent trip to Edmonton as we were told it’s the ‘best Indian food.’ Definitely disagree with that… it’s decent but nothing that is mind blowing. It’s certainly a nicer atmosphere than a traditional Indian restaurant as this one has been done up in a modern décor and bathrooms are clean. We had the dinner buffet at $ 20 pp which seemed to be the most common way to order here. Good selection of classic dishes including naan, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, lentils, cauliflower, chick peas, and some different curries like mango. Fresh fruit for dessert and some soup, pakoras and veggie samosas as appetizer items in the buffet. Ok service. It’s a nice option if you’re in the south end of Edmonton but I’ve definitely had better Indian and a more authentic experience elsewhere.

Stopped in here once before and was duely impressed by food, service, and décor. This time, a moderately busy Tuesday, I opted for the buffet and thoroughly enjoyed it. A nice selection of what I presume to be Indian classics including a nice goat curry. No vindaloo unfortunately(last stop in there was and it was fabulously hot). There is a menu as well but the buffet is a great way to get lots of tastes. Top it off with a couple Kingfisher beers and it is a great experience. Staff is friendly and welcoming. There is a choice of lounge or restsurant seating. Great date night or family get together place.

I have recently discovered this place but I am now a fan. I have only ever been there for buffet, so I can’t comment on the quality of their menu items, although I imagine that they’re quite tasty as well. But for the buffet, they have quite a large selection or dishes available in the centre of the restaurant to choose from. And all were well stocked when I was there. The quality also seems to be relatively high, and I enjoyed each of the dishes that I sampled. I prefer the buffet here to most of the other Indian restaurants in the city that I’ve been to. As far as the restaurant itself, it’s modern and looks quite different from most of the other Indian restaurants in the city. It’s also nice to go to a restaurant that doesn’t seem to be a part of the New Asian Village chain(which is bigger than you think likely; Google it). It feels much cleaner than some of the others and would be a good place to go with a large group or with family. My favourite place is still Daawat on Whyte avenue, but this place takes my number two slot and has a larger selection of buffet items. But I’m no Indian expert so take my review with a few grains of salt. I’m one of those guys that likes butter chicken.

First time here. Had a good experience. The staff were very pleasant to us and the owner was very accommodating. The food was great. We had their lunch buffet and it was very appetizing and very affordable. A wide array of dishes that I destroyed. I can’t remember the names but it was all good. They had this spicy breaded fish that blew my mind. The restaurant has a pretty cool hip décor vibe to it. Does not look like your typical Indian food joint.

I LOVE Zaika!!! If you are looking for a great Indian restaurant then look no more! I am so thankful that it is located super conveniently for me, just off 91 street, south of the Anthony Henday. I frequently go in and pick up their ‘to go’ boxes, where you fill a box from the buffet and take it to go. It is very reasonably priced. The only problem I find with eating in is that I OVERSTUFF myself because the food is so good. Do yourself a favor, try a little of everything… even if you aren’t sure what it is — it will be delicious.

I finally made it back(for only the second time) for Zaika’s lunch buffet to celebrate a birthday. There were 6 of us total and all of us, of course, went with the buffet. Price is very reasonable($ 14/person) and the menu has something for everyone. BONUS: For those people that are gluten free/can’t eat eggs/whatever, you can eat pretty much everything that they offer. Just ask the hostess or one of the waitresses. They were even so nice to make my sister a gluten free/egg free roti! Amazing. Anyways, everything we tried was delicious. I really enjoyed the potato cakes(nice bit of spicyness to it), tandoor chicken(super tender), fish pakoras, curry goat, butter chicken, naan bread(don’t get too many as it gets cold quick). There was also an eggplant dish, yellow daal, spicy chickpeas, two types of rice and a soup of the day. If you still need more food, they have a salad and dessert area. Mango pudding was SO good and fruit was a nice way to finish off the meal. Excellent, awesome place for Indian! Forgot to even mention that the place has a sleek, modern décor and the service is great. Always checking on your drinks and removing plates when needed. Definitely worth the drive out.

Zaika is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in the city. I’m sad that it’s so far away from the downtown, but that’s about the only thing it has going against it. The interior décor of Zaika is modern and inviting– it has the dark feeling of many Indian restaurants, but the colour scheme, art and glass chandeliers are appealing to the modern audience. Zaika’s lunch buffet has yet to disappoint– favourites include the always-fresh soup of the day, butter chicken, potato cakes and of course the garlic naan bread. The dessert buffet is typical of most Indian buffets, but tasty and fresh nonetheless. The service always seems to be be very attentive, with regular water refills and table clearings. The only thing that would make me love Zaika more is for them to open a location closer to the centre of Edmonton!
