Nice value village. Only thing is they price their stuff according to brand so lots of times you could get the same shirt for just a few more dollars brand new. You really have to watch the prices and not just assume that because it’s in a second hand store it’s a good deal. When they have their 50% off days… that’s when it’s time to go! Then you can really get a good deal! It’s clean and well lit and in a nice area with tons of parking(and you can do your other shopping while you’re at it because Mayfield Common has tons of other stores!).

Kind staff, poor selection of items. I stop at this one because its next to a Goodwill that has neat treasures. The most interesting items are always priced at $ 40+ in their décor/knick knack area, which is outrageous for a thrift shop. It IS one of the lesser stressful shops to visit during their 50% off days, because of their shop and parking lot size. Never any long lineups, and the washrooms are always tidy.

As far as Value Villages go, I do like this one. I’ve found many gems over the year here for costume parties ranging from the perfect clutch, to an almost brand new pair of heals, to matching cheesy jerseys for the hubs and I that won us a Unilocal contest! This location has a friendly donations drop off area that you can pull up to and they will unload from your vehicle for you! Remember to get your donation stamp card — each donation earns you 5% off up to 30% off on your next shopping trip. The washrooms at this location are suprisingly clean and my kids always seem to have to go potty when we are here on the hunt. You have to know your products and prices to know whether you are getting a good deal here but this is definitely my go to location for treasure hunting. See you soon VV!

This Value Village has a large parking lot, and donation drop off area. The store is big and not too cramped when looking through the merchandise. They have a large Halloween section of new costumes for babies to adults. Many of them range from $ 20 – 50 and they are organized by size. If you don’t need a full costume, they also have accessories such as funky glasses, masks, hosiery, and more. They had cute toddler animal costumes for $ 20. The clothing section is vast. I found a dress for an 80s party one time. Housewares is ok, but not too much or great stuff when I have looked. The book selection is good. We didn’t know if you buy 4 books, you get the 5th free until the cashier told us so that was good service. Those books that don’t have a MSRP(which is how they price their books), they will usually price is based on what they think and ask if that’s ok. Can be hit or miss depending what I’m looking for but can sometimes find treasures in this store.

You have to enjoy searching for stuff, to appreciate the store. It’s quite big and most of the items are«one man’s trash, and another man’s… trash» as well. It’s getting harder to find treasures, but they still exist. Prices seem higher than other thrift stores.

I used to really enjoy Value Village. Visiting a Value Village store was like exploring a huge closet full of vintage toys, games, music, and books. It brought back memories of Saturday morning cartoons(and the commercials), ‘80s sitcoms, and AM radio. Now it’s a place where people dump their crap. VV went from being a treasure trove of pop culture to a garbage dump. Obviously that’s not the fault of the store, it’s just the quality(or lack thereof) of the donations lately. The Mayfield Common location has a pretty anemic stock. They have a respectable selection of books but it’s mostly yesterday’s best-sellers. I have found a few gems there but mostly it’s as if John Grisham and Danielle Steele got together and had a garage sale. I’m a big fan of vinyl so I always visit their record section. I can smell that musty old basement smell as I approach the albums. They have an assload of Guy Lombardo, marching band type stuff and some Wayne Newton. The records were obviously donated by the adult children of seniors who recently passed away or went to the home. Next section — Toys & Games. This was particularly painful. Pieces missing from puzzles and boardgames that were also missing components. I am a man and naturally I hate shopping for clothes so I avoided the clothing section. No comments there. I haven’t been to the other locations in the city but I hope they are better than the Mayfield store.
