It’s pretty basic. Breads, buns, cookies, tortes and squares. You can buy discounted items from their freezer. It’s not really a birthday cake sort of place. Nice staff. The parking lot is always full.

Been buying my bread here for nearly two decades. Amazing German bakery. Best rye bread in town. Their doughnuts are fantastic. Also, best place to get real baked pretzels. If you haven’t been here, you’re missing out.

Empress is a great neighborhood bakery that well complements TreeStone/Bonjour down the street. While TreeStone is very french in its nature, Empress has more of a German theme with its baked goods. Prices are reasonable. I haven’t tried their signature — the sourdough rye bread — yet. But I’ve enjoyed their doughnuts and cookies quite a bit. Reportedly, the cake doughnut with jelly filling and sugar coating is delicious.

Does Empress carry the best sour dough rye I have ever had in my life? Yes, yes they do. At a reasonable price to boot. All hail the mighty sour dough skills of the bakers here.

Wonderful bakery, with super friendly staff. I love the doughnuts with the lemon glaze and the sour dough bread ! You have to go early as they sometimes sell out. Try the raspberry bismarks or the fruit danishs.
