I heard a lot of great things about Davids grill, so we figured we should give it a try. To be honest, I felt a little let down by this place, I ordered the farmers pancake(A dutch creation I believe), which came with hash browns, green peppers, onions and hollandaise(very obviously made from a mix) and cheese. It was alright, but it left me wanting more. Not that I was still hungry, it was HUGE. We did order a lychee slush to share and I thought it was really tasty, my boyfriend didn’t like it but didn’t hate it either. Our server seemed like she had better things to do than to serve us and the atmosphere felt kind of uninviting. We may try this place for lunch or dinner one time, but I’m not really sure I want to…

I recently went to David’sfor a client lunch. Our group had the special(steak sandwich), veggie burger(me), seafood chowder, and a burger of some sort. The fries and steak looked good and our group seemed to enjoy everything. I had chowder envy. It was Manhattan-style(i.e. not the cream base) and had a ton of seafood. I would have ordered if I had taken the time to check out the description better. My veggie burger was very tasty, lots of mushrooms and not dry or too crumbly(common problems with veg burgers). Unfortunately my salad came with the dressing on it(I asked for it on the side), but the chef was not too heavy handed. The meat eaters in our group had fries with their sandwiches and there weren’t any left on the plates(always a good sign). I’d call this a burger lounge based on ambiance, nice décor.

David’s is a great place to try if you are craving a real home made burger. I also tried the steak sandwich and honestly the quality of the meat was comparable to the better steaks at the Keg! Yum!

Its cool, new-looking sign caught my attention every time I drove past along Calgary Trail, and I’m always up to try a new restaurant, especially one with«grill» in the title. It’s bigger than it looks from the outside, with a restaurant side and lounge side. From what I could see, the lounge was full of TVs and a full-length bar. The restaurant was cute and our server was very friendly, waiting patiently for our fourth to arrive. There are probably close to 20 or so burgers on the menu. I went with the Canadian(mmm, cheese and maple bacon) and I think the lamb burger is next on my checklist. Our items include fish-n-chips, jambalaya, salads, etc. Pretty standard pub fare, but my food was better than pub-quality. The burger obviously didn’t come from a package. It was hand-rolled beef. Yummy! Not sure $ 12 was worth it for just the burger(no side included) but it was a good choice for a new restaurant to try out.
