I loved their broth! Best phở place I’ve tried here. I recommend! Would go back again and again. Place is nice too.

Came here a few days ago on the suggestion of a friend. The place was not that packed with customers in contrast to what we’ve heard that it is usually packed especially during lunch and dinner. We ordered the spicy calamari which was good. We also ordered the pork chops which was a bit overcooked and rubbery. The wonton soup was a bit salty. The mixed vegetables I could say was done just right as the vegetables were crisp and fresh. And a platter of beef fried rice which I must say is very generous on the meat. Overall the food was good though needs a bit of improvement. The service was however poor. Our waiter was not welcoming nor cordial. I guess they just don’t know the value of customer service or what it really is.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It use to be my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in the city but I can’t get over the service of this place. It was a big reason why I left and went somewhere else. I don’t like their snobby waitresses. Some of them are nice and smile but there’s maybe 2 to watch out for. Also don’t come around 7:30pm unless you want to be rushed out the door. There was one incident where I came with my boyfriend and they sat us down. Ignored us. Sat another table down. Gave them drinks and menus while we sat there still waiting. After 20 minutes my boyfriend got up and said it was the last time he would be returning. As we were leaving a waitress came to give us menus but I told her it was too late and that she neglected us. I still come here because my friends like the food. Their food is good. But again staff is snobby. Another incident we had a party of 6 – 8 people and one of the snobby waitresses messed up 4 people’s orders and then tried to blame us for the mistake. I’m sorry, we know what we ordered. She took it back and came out quickly after scooping onions out of the bowl that wasn’t suppose to have onions in it. There were still traces of it so you can tell she didn’t care. When I got my bun bo hue, it was the first time it tasted so bland and I asked for more spice and the waitress rolled her eyes at me. I got my spices but that scarred me from ever ordering their bun bo hue(spicy noodle bowl) for awhile. They redeemed themselves for their phở dac biet, their fried squid, com tam suon bi cha(broken rice with pork chops) and the fact that they always serve che ba mau.(3 colour dessert.) I love their food but I’m still looking for a Vietnamese restaurant to replace them because I can’t get over their snobby attitude.

Ate at this location last night after 730pm and had a terrible experience. It is unfortunate. The food is delicious I have no issues with it, this received the 1 star. But the staff and their services was poor. I do not think I will eat there again nor recommend it. Unless you do not mind staff: –rolling their eyes at you –being impatient when taking your order –talk to you bluntly –not responding to you when you need service –not handing your food to you, so you have to reach over to grab it –not clearing your finished dishes –rushing you out by giving you the bill –that do not smile –talk with other staff laughing loudly at the cash register I would rather go to Co Do Hue express by manning or Halong Bay and receive an overall great experience with staff who appreciate customers.

I’ve been to this restaurant 3 times now. Every time I’ve ordered the same thing. The Phở Ga. I’ve had this dish at several Vietnamese eateries and this place is so far the best. The broth is light and bright served with a generous amount of lean chicken and rice noodles. Yum yum. I went with a friend and she tried a different soup but rated it as Meh. My husband order the seafood with steamed rice and he loved it. I had a bite and it was well flavored. The veggies were bright and crisp and there was plenty of meat on the plate. For the price this place has great food. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere and has been busy every time I’ve been there. Décor is a little shabby but it’s not exactly a fine dining establishment.

I’m pretty confident in saying everyone knows about Cô Dô Hue. If you like phở and live/work north side, then Cô Dô needs no introduction. It is hands down one of the best places in Edmonton when you need to satisfy those I-can-never-get-enough-phở-cravings that one gets(or is that just me?) I’ve been to Cô Dô Hue at least a dozen times by now and can’t see myself stopping anytime soon. It’s a great spot for lunch as they are lightning fast with service and cheaper than cheap, which would be super cheap? Obviously, I have tried several things on their menu but my last two lunch trips, my buddies and I ordered: Trip #1 — Pork and shrimp vietnamese fresh salad rolls($ 7.50) — you get four salad rolls total. We really liked how they came out slightly warmed up. Very fresh and always delicious with a peanut sauce to dip with. — Hue’s spicy beef noodle soup(aka. bun bo hue)(#34)($ 10.95) — my buddy ordered this and«devoured» would be putting it nicely. Just look at how delicious and flavourful this bad boy looks. — Shrimp, crab meat and pork lai fan soup($ 10.95) — I try to order something new each time I go to Cô Dô so this time, it was #47. Good amount of meat and broth was delicious. Spicy and depth to their broth that makes you want to lick every last drop. Trip #2 — Spicy crispy chicken wings(#11)($ 10.95) — on the recommendation of my one Viet friend, who proclaimed these chicken wings to be «crack». I’m not sure I would go that far but they were good — well seasoned, lightly fried(not greasy) but it was missing something I can’t quite wrap my finger around. Compared to the KFC(korean fried chicken) I had recently, these aren’t comparable(but that may be a slightly unfair comparison). — Special dried rice noodle(#49)($ 10.95) — second time I’ve ordered this dish and it is goooood. Apparently, it’s rare to find in the city. How does it work? You have a bowl of delicious noodles, good variety of different meats(chicken, shrimp, squid, etc.) and vegetables. You also get a side bowl of broth — dip the noodles in the broth and enjoy. YUM. — Ginger beef steamed rice(#57)($ 10.95) — my other friend ordered this and he thoroughly enjoyed it. The rice is plain but the ginger beef looked on point and came with a variety of stir fried vegetables. You can’t go wrong with anything you order at Cô Dô’s. Great food and great prices = what else could you want(stop being such a greedy bastard). If you’re on the north side, it’s a no brainer!

This is my fav Vietnamese restaurant in the city. When I crave some hot phở this is where I go. I especially love the hot spicy beef and the shrimp and chicken wrap. Prices are also reasonable and you get big portions here compared to other places. Love that the one girl always remembers I like my bean sprouts cooked. This place can get very busy during the lunch time, but even then service is fast. Usually only have to wait 10 – 15 minutes for your food.

My first impression is very good, the waiter was very friendly and the place was clean. It was quite crowded for a week night. My only complaint would be that the lighting was very low perhaps a little darker than I would like. I ordered the special Phở, for me, it is always my first dish at any Vietnamese restaurant. I must admit, my expectation was a little low given that this is not a phở joint but a full menu Vietnamese restaurant, I was expecting a little less but they surprised me. The broth was nice and hot, full of beef flavour. There was a nice array of condiments, A big plate of beans sprouts chili pepper a whole handful of basil and the usual Saracha hoisin and sate sauces. The portion was very good with lots of toppings. For $ 12 including tips, I was very happy. I would definitely return.

This is my second time I have been here and I have yet to be disappointed. I wish they has a location on the southside as I’d have to save the quality of food coming from this restaurant was more than satisfying. The restaurant seems to be fairly new and overall was well kept. Always a good sign seeing a restaurant able to stay clean in the front of the house. To start off we had an order of the Crispy Fried Squid aka calamari. I wish I could have another order! The batter had a nice crisp to it without being too heavy, while also having a flavourful seasoning throughout. The squid inside was cooked excellently with just the right firmness. We also has an order of the Grilled Beef Vietnamese Fresh Salad Rolls which were good but if you had to choose just one starter, go with the crispy fried squid. For my main dish I ordered the Co Do’s Special Beef Noodle Soup. I absolutely loved it! The broth was a nice blend of spicy and sour. Not your typical Ph đc bit. The broth seems to be done in a Thai style, but seemed different enough to still feel unique as a Vietnamese dish. The spiciness of the dish was just right as it did not overpower the dish while still lending the right flavour and a good compliment to the sourness of the broth. The selection of meat and a couple pieces of shrimp definitely made this a much more special type of dish which I felt they pulled off very well. It was a generous helping without being too much so worth the price. I will definitely find myself returning if I happen to be in the area, or in the case of tonight make the drive up, but I believe the city could definitely use another location south of the river.

Excellent food. Amazing calamari. Been going here for years and if it wasn’t for the fact that I’m dieting right now I’d be there once a week easily.

Odd I haven’t reviewed this place but it’s been part of my go to north side nammer rotation for years. The key is to find what each place is good at and to diversify the portfolio. My standard hangover cure is combo #1 with either rice or vermicelli which comes with grilled chicken, beef, deep fried spring rolls & a small wonton soup to start. I prefer nammer wonton to most Chinese ones as it seems to have a better broth, but it can be salty at times here. Though, it may be good to replenish the electrolytes from the night before, Or it may cause further dehydration… Not too sure yet. That being said, any of their rice or vermicelli(3 – 5 «colour») bowls and plates are good, as their fish sauce is good. Surprisingly hard to find consistently good fish sauce at nammer establishments but this place is solid. If you want to try something different, try the banh canh which is a seafood soup with thick noodles and thick broth(not watery like phở). Throw in some extra sambal pepper and this is one of my favourite soups. Comes with pollock(meh) shredded crab, a couple prawns, a half shell mussel and pork sausage(cha lua) Havent had it anywhere else like this and have no clue if it’s authentic, but it’s delicious. Phở is average… maybe below average but if I’m itching the north side doesn’t have anywhere really much better anymore. Bun bo hue is hit or miss noeadays and I haven’t ordered it from here for a while because of inconsistency. Sometimes it was downright disappointing. Other than that it has an inviting interior which won’t scare off people afraid of the hole in the wall places and I’ve never had any issues with the service.

Food here was good for its price. Kind of uncomfortable seating feeling sort of crowded with other tables. I’ve only been here once and probably won’t return because the waitress was extremely rude to us. Maybe a bad day for her but who knows.

Bun Bo Hue(Spicy Beef Noodle) here is the best in the city! It’s a central Vietname(Hue) dish with broad round rice noodles in a beef broth flavored with lemongrass and fermented shrimp paste. Their broth is on the sweeter side than other restaurants, which I love. I also love getting the«Mi Kho Dac Biet», a dry egg noodle with seafood and chicken with a side of soup that you use to pour overtop, depending on how soup-y you’d like it. The noodles are coated with its own sauce too, so it’s fine even without the broth, although a little on the salty side.

Awful phở. Inedible and tasted rotten or old. I came here once when it first opened. The soup was old and tasted awful. I paid for my dish after two bites and left. Never again. Nastiest soup I have ever had in my entire life. Just plain nasty. When I see people go in I pity their awful choice in food and gag at the thought that it was ok to serve that to any human being.

My Vietnamese friends say that this is one of the best in town. I think its okay… the portions at hoang long are bigger for the same price. Their bun bo hue is excellent here

This is a wonderful Western Vietnamese restaurant. This place is always packed with customers no matter what time of day it is. The staff here don’t really smile or talk to you much or give you«customer service», but the food here is good. The restaurant is usually in order, clean and there are plenty of staff at work. Whatever you order, the food comes out very quick. I always order the Bun Bo Hue, because it has a lot of flavor and there’s lots of vegetables, noodles and meat! I love that they are very generous with the amount of meat they put in the soup. The grilled pork chops, beef and chicken is very tasty. When I am exceptionally hungry, I order the rice dishes, because it’s makes me full. Surprisingly, the broth for the wonton soup was really good. The ginger beef is much more healthier because it isn’t deep fried and breaded. I have to admit, there is a lot of MSG in there foods, but combined with other spices, it’s addictive! Apparently, I like foods with lots of flavors that is not real?! The tea is not always hot and the staff isn’t always attentive but that’s ok, I’m used to it. I’m always busy eating and talking to my friends anyways to care about the service. Come here for the food. It’s a great place to eat at anytime especially when you are super hungry!

Excellent Vietnamese food. The broth in all the phở and wonton soups is exceptional. On occasion I’ve also ordered the grilled beef and Chicken, which they do over a charcoal grill and gives them an exceptional taste.
