I love Chop. For me, it’s in my top 3 for steak. I am a meat-eater. Beef quality means something to me. I’m surprised by my love of Chop, because I’ve been loyal to other steakhouses for a long time(I still love them but there’s enough love of beef for everyone…) but I enjoy the downtown location and the west end location, both are good; I’ve been to both with the kids and I have to say they are partial to the downtown location due to the upbeat atmosphere. I was at the west end location for dinner on New Year’s Eve and the service was exquisite. The food was top-shelf. We received appetizer coupons to entice us to come back, the manager visited our table, we had wine-tasters before we selected our wine, the list of personalized service, and specials touches goes on… I say, if you like beef, give it a try or go back again.

We went to Chop last weekend. Our reservation was for 6:15. It started with a call in the afternoon confirming our reservation and telling my husband that there was a reservation after us and had to leave before 8:30, I’ve never heard of a restaurant giving you a timeline. We arrived about 45 min before our reservation as was going to go to bar for a drink and appetizer before the rest of our party arrived(2 other couples). Our party was going to be late as they were flying in from the US. I went to tell the young lady at the reception desk that the rest of our party was going to be 15 – 30 min late and if we had to leave around 8 then we would stay at the bar, she said no it was ok as they had a cancellation. When we were seated it was a booth, with three full walls around. I told them that we were six snd 2 men were 6’4 that this would be too crowded. They said it was the only table, we were going to move back to the bar but decided to stay snd add a chair at the end. Our food was all cold or lukewarm, had sat too long before being brought to table, my husband prime rib was under the heat lamp so long that it was dry and now well done. Manager apologized and offered us desert, 2 of us took the desert. Service was very slow but that i can take but cold food at the price they charge you would expect better. Very disappointed and will never return or recommend

Had the filet. It was very good. French onion soup was fantastic. Wine was properly decanted. Excellent service. Atmosphere was not as upbeat as the downtown location but good nonetheless. Steaks were properly done for my whole party and the server checked to make sure.

Worst service ever. Was embarrassed on my client lunch with the slow service. Server forgot to ring in our order(didnt even apologize), then came to ask me what we had ordered(for a table of 3) so she could ring it in, waited another 45 mins, Food runners brought our food, then the server didnt bother to come quality check. No drink refills, and she let dirty plates sit on our table. Waited a total of 2 and a half hours for lunch. Was supposed to be booking a company dinner there for 20 people in the private room and will definitely NOT be doing so now. Its a shame as they are just down the road from our office.

Well Chop Steakhouse and Bar(Stony Plain location), let me start of by saying that you are not chopped! The food was incredible! I have never been so impressed about steak at a restaurant ever in my life until now. You give your guest the bang for their buck that’s for sure with everything from portions to flavor to presentation… AMAZING! Also, the service was perfect! Everyone was polite, professional and warming. Jessie is hands down the best server I have ever had. She was very informative about the specials and had great recommendations. Everything she recommended I loved! Especially the crab cakes. Plus she was hilarious. Highly Highly Highly recommend!!!

Very good steak and Delicious desserts … The wine was not bad either… I went there two days in a row, as I was staying at the hotel for work, and the first night everything was great… The beef, perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the veggies delicious as well. I had the dessert that contains a little portion of everything and it was delicious… The second day I ordered a quinoa paella, which didn’t impress me at all… It didn’t taste bad, but the combination was a little weird. Other than that every one on my table was very happy with their dishes… I have to say this: even the bread was good… I would definitely recommend this place!

All of the CHOP locations differ in décor, which is nice since they aren’t cookie cutters of each other. We enjoy all three locations. Parking can be a bit challenging during some peak hours but it isn’t terrible by any means. Generally you will get a fairly warm welcome at the front door, but it can be hit or miss in terms of enthusiasm. You have the option of the dining room or lounge as their is no patio at this location, both are fine and decorated nicely. We have been here many many times so I will give general comments on my experiences. The food is always great. Steak bites, cheese toast, and tempura are the best appetizers. The chop and Berkeley salad are yummy and my favorite main are the braised short ribs. You will usually get a large amount of meat and a tasty sauce with a side of your choices. The wasabi infused mash potatoes can be great or can be not so good depending on the night. The steaks are generally fairly flavorful especially the teriyaki and peppercorn steaks. The go to dessert is the Caribbean rum cake which is super unique and very tasty. You will generally get a visit by a manager throughout the meal and the staff work as a team to fulfill your needs throughout your dining experience. This is a great restaurant and you should go eat there!

I am first time dining at this Chop West end. The restaurant seems a bit older than what I expected; sitting was quite simple and plain with booth which gives you a nice piracy. This is a moderate high end. The food was quite alright, not the best but not worst either :), I had Grilled Salmon Sandwich on Kaiser toasted come with Caesar salad, while my friend having Thai Curry Bowl which was quite plain . Our server was pretty lady, a bit aggressive and keeping asking few times for us to order more foods… It was not busy lunch time at this place,(three occupy tables only while were there) may be it was too expensive?

Went to Chop once before and didn’t enjoy my experience then. Went to Chop again to give it a second try and was disappointed again. The steak bites were extremely salty when we received them. Fortunately we were able to get that item taken off our bill. The Maple Blackened Salmon was similarly overly seasoned with large amounts of pepper and was hard to eat. No replacement meal was offered when we placed a complaint. I think the food at Chop is over priced for what you get, and other members of my party agreed.

The food was amazing. I had the roasted mushroom ravioli, while my husband opted for the New York steak. Both meals were incredible. The service was sub-par for a restaurant of this type. The server was hard to hear and very awkward. She was nice enough but it was strange to strain to hear her when it wasn’t a busy evening.

I chose Chop for the boyfriends 31st birthday. I was very happy with my choice! The managers and staff were very hospitable. Everything was excellent. We had a nice huge corner booth(as per the reservation request) and our waitress was excellent! Our steaks were cooked to perfection and when it came time for dessert, they brought out a cake I had dropped off earlier in timely fashion :) We will definetly be back again

Been here twice, and I love the good service and decently price food. I’ve had the same dish twice now(shortrib main dish) and it’s a favourite. Went with my partner and his family both times and they always enjoy their meals as well. The steak bites are really good, and the 9 hour cheesecake from the winter menu is a very good cheesecake!

I flew into town late, checked into my hotel and by chance, this place was across the street from my hotel. I walked in 30 minutes before they closed and they were more than accommodating! I got a burger w/a gluten-free bun and fries. It was bomb! Super good! I also had two Old Fashioneds, which were to die for as well. I’ll probably be going again tonight.

My husband and I recently hosted our wedding reception here. There were 16 of us in total and while we initially were looking for a location with a private room, Chop was our ultimate first choice. We’ve been coming here for over 4 years and have never once had an experience that was less than excellent. I had been working with the manager and assistant manager to organize the reception and their service exceeded all expectations. They put together a limited dinner menu for our party based on our preferences. The menu had options, chosen from their full menu, for almost everyone’s preferences; steak(fillet), short ribs, prime rib, salmon, chicken and pasta, all for a price that was well within our budget. In comparison to other venues we had looked at, the selection, quality and cost per person was by far the most impressive. The food here is fantastic! Everyone in our party commented on how amazing their dinner was. The service provided by staff and management was exceptional; they did everything they could to make this occasion perfect, which it was. Regardless of whether it has been for a large group function or just an intimate dinner for two, our experiences here has always been excellent. This is hands down our favorite steakhouse. I highly recommend the lobster, scallop & gorgonzola dip or beef tenderloin carpaccio for an appetizer. The fillet mignon is our favorite or try the gorgonzola fillet for a bit of a change, yummmm. But make sure you save room for the fallen chocolate soufflé cake, you will regret not trying it(and it’s gluten free!)

My husband and I went there today for my birthday celebration. The restaurant is adjacent to a hotel. The curb appeal is ok but the once you enter it is nice on the inside. We were seated in the lounge area with the big screen TV situated around the room. My husband enjoyed that but I kinda found it distracting while eating. The waitstaff was good. Everyone was really friendly. The only thing I wish was better guidance with the menu selection . We ate the steak bites as starters they were yummy. Well seasoned, cooked well but it was not too chewy. My main course was a steak and mashed potatoes which I enjoyed. My husband and I would return there again to eat. I just wish it was located in a better location but the food was devious.

We went to this location yesterday with a large party(13) last night for my grandfathers 80th birthday. I made the reservation online via OpenTable, and. The process was smooth all around. When a change was made online, they called to confirm the change a few hours later. I had requested a private room if they had one, which they didn’t, but they seated us in the empty back area that wasn’t in use so we could have some privacy, which I really appreciated. We had two servers for our party, and they were both great. They gave us everything we needed, provided information that want listed on the menu, helped with wine choices, were very personable, and managed to not be over bearing. They were so accomodating of our seven week old son, making sure we had somewhere to put his car seat, and asking if we needed anything special for him, which was great. Not everywhere that we go is that good about having little ones in their establishments. The food was fabulous, from the appie platter through to the desserts. If You like chocolate, definitely give the fallen chocolate soufflé with the mascarpone mousse a go. It was divine! I veered away from my favourite short ribs and tried the buttermilk chicken with asparagus ragout, which was juicy and tender. The ragout added a nice flavour nd and texture to the mix. My husband had the smoked rib eye, which was so tender and had a lovely smoky flavour to it. On the appie platter, my favourites were the ginger snap peas, steak bites and maple bacon chicken wings. I was impressed with the whole experience, and wouldn’t hesitate to come back to this location for another event.

I’ve been traveling across Canada from Toronto, Ontario and have been to 3 provinces and at least 9 difference Steakhouse & Bar restaurants. This is the FIRST restaurant since I started traveling where I’ve experienced over the top amazing service and mouth-watering, delicious food! 1. Friendly and Welcoming Every single person who was on service tonight was welcoming and friendly. I felt like I was sitting in a good friend’s home about to be served a home cooked meal. They also paid attention to our needs. One of my friends has a gluten allergy. Devon(the supervisor/our server) happily made sure that he specifically asked the chef to make sure no gluten products were in the food my friend ordered. 2. Fix Problems One of my friends ordered Prime Rib but unfortunately they didn’t have it available that night. The waitress immediately called Devon over and he spoke to my friend explaining him why it wasn’t available and what other options were available to him. I love how thorough they were and how they went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of! Chop House didn’t know this but I’ve been homesick for some food that I was used to back home so although many things on the menu sounded delicious, I didn’t want to order any other dish except the Ahi Tuna– to put it simple, I was feeling picky. I ordered the Fresh Ahi Tuna Pillars and they also didn’t have that available but no worries! Devon spoke to Chef Joe and he custom prepared me a delicious salad ONTHEHOUSE. It was so fresh, tasty and so unexpected. I felt like I was in heaven. 3. Go above and beyond In a nutshell, this restaurant went above and beyond to make sure I didn’t leave hungry, my friend had a gluten-free meal and they checked in on us to make sure that our drinks were topped up and our meals were tasting delicious. I was so impressed with the salad they prepared me(I’ve attached it in the pictures section: «Custom Appetizer Salad Made By Chef Joe») and my other friends(one ordered Buttermilk Roast Chicken with Asparagus Tarragon Ragout and the other Top Sirloin) both said they LOVED their meals! Absolute perfection. I feel bad because I didn’t have any cash on me or I would’ve tipped each Devon AND Chef Joe the equivalent of my meal. I will be coming back to this exact restaurant next month when I get back to Edmonton.

I went to this location with a few co-workers to celebrate my 3 year work anniversary & overall we were extremely satisfied The waitress was extremely polite, professional & timely. The food was amazing; we ordered the Chop platter for an appetizer for us all to pick off of. The meat was juicy & melt in your mouth, beans were tasty with a slight kick to them, bread was very cheesy. I don’t eat shrimp, but my co-workers enjoyed them. I had the roasted mushroom pasta & it was amazing! The portion size was perfect for the amount you pay. I did enjoy a few drinks; the white greyhound, which has become my favourite there and the sparkling Bellini, although that one wasn’t my cup of tea, but the others enjoyed it. The interior is cozy, but open. I really liked the area we were sat in, it was at a round table with only another table more than 6 feet away giving us ample room to move around. The wait time for food & drinks was timely & overall I loved my experience here. Would definitely go again & recommend!

Oh wow, this place brings a smile to my face. Parking is available in the nice large lot out front. The inside is pretty consistent with other locations, with the dim lighting, convex mirrors, and those oh-so-fuzzy velvety seats. The appetizer platter is a total beast. You get prawns with cocktail sauce, beef skewers, beans in plum sauce, garlic bread, and chicken wings. Also 3 more sauces. This could easily be a meal by itself. Truly epic. With your main course, you can do the Chop experience, which gives you 2 sides instead of 1, and also a soup. For soup I had the seafood chowder. It wasn’t bad, but I wish it came with some crackers. The Kansas City steak was really good. One of the best steaks I’ve had in Edmonton, hands down. Cooked just right, with plenty of pink/red inside. The baked potato was stuffed with just the right amount of cream and green onions. As the 2nd side I had a dish of mushrooms. These things are a bit high on the salt, but they were fresh, and scorching hot. Beautiful. My colleagues also ordered a dish of asparagus, and these were cooked just right as well. Beautiful. Service was very professional. I was extremely happy with the experience, and felt like a king. This is what I’m talking about. The place is worth the extra few bucks. Recommended.

We were looking for a nice restaurant for dinner to celebrate a special occasion. Although I have seen the restaurant from the outside, I never gain it a second thought to try it. I looked at the menu before making a reservation, and saw there were steak and seafood dishes, so perfect for my husband and I. I made a reservation online and received a message from a bored sounding girl the afternoon of our dinner. We arrived and were shown to our booth. I’m glad it was away from the busier part of the restaurant but it was closer to the kitchen so we could hear the cooks instead. The restaurant was busy for a Thursday evening, likely frequented by those doing ‘business’ in their suits(but really there to eat meat and drink wine and charged it to their multi million dollar companies). I had the drink special, only $ 5 for a tall glass. I can’t recall the name but if you like sweet drinks, you would probably enjoy it. I had the crab and shrimp cakes for $ 12.50 and the macadamia crusted mahi mahi for $ 28. There were 3 cakes and they had a crispy shell on the outside which I wasn’t a fan of but I was surprised there were 3 cakes for that price. They weren’t the best I had but decent. The mahi mahi was served on a bed of arugula and mashed potatoes. Again, I wasn’t expecting 2 pieces of fish but it was a pleasant surprise. I liked the mahi mahi as it was nice and flaky and the macadamia gave it some crunch. I would have preferred it served with a different vegetable though. There was a lot of mashed potatoes, too much for me. We were encouraged to have dessert but with our bellies full, we declined. We were given a card with a coupon for dessert on the house for next time. I would rate the food 3.5 but the server was very attentive and she boosts this to 4 stars. I would go back and try something different next time.
