Mr. Mike’s Steakhouse

The service at this location is always kind of shoddy. My dining partner and I had to wait for a server to come by the front for about 5 minutes. We actually walked away, checked out Earl’s wait time, then came back to see if anyone was available to seat us.
Once at our table, we both ordered a beer, and our food. I was given the wrong beverage, a red ale instead of an IPA. Or server graciously went to correct the mistake, but came back to inform us that the IPA I had asked for was out of stock. I chose the house pale ale, which was delicious.
The food is pretty average, nothing too special, but when you’re hungry, it hits the spot.

Does this place employ out of work movie stars? If not, I think whomever does the hiring is a Hollywood buff. The hostess was the spitting image of Amanda Peet, as girl who was the wannabe contract killer in «The Whole Nine Yards» and my waiter looked just like Mike Meyers as Austin Powers. I seriously expected someone to pop out and say that I was on Candid Camera.
Dinner was good, but not super great. Had the Tai Steak & Noodles. Not sure what part of it makes it Tai. It wasn’t really all that spicy and was more about the sesame. The vegetables served with it were just right. Steamed through but still with a slight snap or crunch. The dish would be better served with a wide noodle instead of the thin, stringy kind. The thin noodles give the impression that your eating a cheap Ramon Noodle packet.

If u feel the need to stop on Bourbon Street at West Ed do yourself a favour and keep moving when you see Mr. Mike’s. Went there last weekend with my GF last weekend and sorry but it sucked. First off asked to b seated on one of the three tables outside the restaurant which allows for some awesome mall watching and the little girl hostess sucked her teeth and sat us. 15 mins later our waitress came by for to take our order. At this point we had enough time to choose beverages and find food to order. I ordered a craft beer (which was actually awesome) and a club soda with lime while my lady ordered a spiked lemonade (also good). 15 minutes later we got our drinks including a cranberry juice which we didn’t order but whatever. Then the food came. My gal got a veggie burger that looked like it was just de-​thawed from the GFS freezer warehouse and I had a burger that had more of the «spicy aioli» on top of the bun than under it. Took two napkins just to wipe of the bun so I could hold it. Same thing. Weak ass processed patty with zero flavour. Been passing by this place for years in Grande Prairie and the locals rave. Would never go back and drop 60 bucks on a beer, a cocktail and a couple of terrible burgers again. Sorry Mr Mike… glad I didn’t try a steak
