I’m neither here nor there when it comes to Village Pasta. Much like the Italian Gourmet or Pete’s To Go, this small spot in the main drag of Cole Harbour Road has a selection of lunchable meals(quiches, calzones, chicken parms) and salads that are reheated per order. It’s a great selection of grub for flexible eaters, less so if you have specific dietary needs since everything is premade. They also have a habit of tossing some form of meat into every salad which greatly reduces vegetarian options. Still, there’s usually something tasty on deck. I wish I could say you can’t tell that it was made earlier and reheated… but you definitely can. Still, I’d pretty happily turn to Village Pasta for a quick and easy lunch. Plus, the prices are really reasonable. A solid 3.5 in my books!

I’d never really paid much attention to this place. It’s next door to Gleneagle Bakery, where I’ve been known to stop for an occasional cupcake. On one such occasion, I walked into Gleneagle, and the bakery was opened up to the lunch counter next door — I never realized they were connected. It was just about closing time, but I moseyed on over just to check them out. Didn’t plan on buying anything that trip. I instantly began to drool at the many creations in the deli case, and ended up picking up a phyllo-wrapped turkey sausage with cranberry salsa, and a warm chicken cous cous salad. I happened to mention it was my first time there, so the lady who was serving me(the owner I assume) gave me a couple other containers of pasta salads to try. She said they were about to close, and they make everything fresh daily, so it was just going to go to waste anyway. Score! Everything was delicious, but the turkey sausage and cranberry salsa pastry was to die for. I will be back. And — I realized afterward there is another location of Village Pasta on Waverley Rd — just up the street from me!

Village Pasta is another great find from Unilocal. On my way to the beach decided to stop for a quick bite before I hit the sand to relax. Never been to this place before and only seen it as I was at it neighbours a few weeks back and it was closed but I was looking through the windows. Walking in I knew I was going to love this place. Garlic, sauce, basil are the best aromas YUM. Well from the menu I wanted almost one of everything but I chose the Phyllo wrapped Chicken as you know I am a chicken lover, Well OMG was it good. Phyllo pastry wrapped around boneless chicken breast with tomato and garlic, basil and my favourite cheese Feta. It was great I inhaled it to the point that I almost did not taste it and all for under $ 10. Bright cheerful décor this is a new place for me to visit. Next time I go back I am going to look into the gourmet pizza. Oh as well they do catering.

Village Pasta is a quaint deli located in the plaza along Cole Harbour Rd. Although I was not able to stop for lunch, I did pop in to look at the menu for future occasions. I have to say, this little gem, will definitely be on my list to go back to. The interior is a bright with cucumber green tables, black accents and wonderful chalk boards where you will find the daily special. Everything here is made fresh daily, with all fresh ingredients. You will find a variety of salads that I am sure will make your mouth water. I personally want to try the mango curry pasta salad. Just saying it makes me want some. They also offer a variety of baked goods, one we will try will be the pizza. You can get take out from here, they also do catering, and of course eat in.
