Being a fan of Cheese Curds and Habaneros I couldn’t wait to give the Truck-Side a try. Chef Bill Pratt and his team has another winner. Love the concept of bringing the outdoors in. This way you can enjoy food truck dining without fighting the elements and flies. There’s a selection of pasta dishes posted or you can create your own. Also available is a Caesar Salad«Bar» and focaccia bread. The build your own option was lacking options available(or at least I didn’t see them) but we each found something we liked on the pre set dishes. We split a Caesar Salad, B got the Extreme Bacon Carbonara Rigatoni and I the Homemade Gnocchi with Bolognese Meat Sauce. The salad was good, but didn’t wow me(that might be a personal taste thing, we like to drown ours in garlic). The bread was very good, perfect for sopping up sauce. The gnocchi was fantastic. Little pillows of potato goodness smothered in a meat sauce with just enough heat to make it interesting. The rigatoni was aptly named, extreme amounts of 3 types of bacon in a delicious cream sauce. The portions were huge. So much so I was able to enjoy some for lunch the next day. You’d easily pay twice the price at an upscale restaurant. I can’t remember the last time I was to a «fast food» chain because, really, when you’ve got places like this serving up fresh, local and fast, the traditional chains can’t compete.

I am not a fan of food trucks. I think it’s because until recently all we really had were chip trucks and hot dog carts. It’s so nice to have quality food from a truck! I really like Truck Side. The murals depict landmarks from across Canada and are very well done. Lots of seating, though it’s picnic-table-style so when it’s busy you’re stuck facing strangers while you eat. Lil Eatily has great selection of all things pasta. I had the chorizo rigatoni arrabiata and Mike had fettuccine with pulled pork. Both were very good and very flavourful. My pasta came with lotsa garlic(yum!), and I had garlic breath after. Which I loved, by the way. We also got garlic bread(focaccia), which was very good as well. Prices are reasonable and portions are large. My only complaint would be the lack of signage for the build your own option. Online you can view the wide selection of pastas, proteins, sauces, etc. But on the menu board? Nothing. I would have loved to build my own but with no info on the truck, it felt too inconvenient to ask for a rundown of all the options. Overall a very good lunch and I’d love to return.
