Calgary Public Library – Crowfoot Branch

I have been to the library many times however haven’t been there in ages. Today was a special day — my little guy got a library card and wanted to «test» it out and go to a public library. Got to love kids and the simple things!
The library is big and so much selection. Everything from books (obviously) to movies, CD’s, blue rays and magazines/​newspapers. We looked around and finally set in at the «kids corner». Very busy place on a Friday morning.
We picked out some books and waited in line to check out. Yes, we could have checked ourselves out however I wanted to provide a real «old school» library experience and have someone scan his books. The male staff member was so great and explained everything step to step of what he was doing (taking card, scanning books, looking in account etc etc) My little guy was over the moon that he got to use his new card but also the detailed explanation of how it all works.
Thank you so much to the great staff member who took the time and made a little boy so happy. I am sure we will be regulars at the library.

I’ve been to almost every library in Library in Calgary, this one is probably in the top 2. There’s a lot of tables for seating, but yet they still always get filled up. If you’re looking for a library that is more modern looking, then this one is definitely the one for you.

I’m going to be in town for the summer, with a lot of research and reading to do, and I’m so thankful for having found this facility to do it in! It’s spacious and well-​lit, with plenty of comfortable seating and good wifi. It also has a separate quiet study room (in case you find the noise made by people browsing books distracting? I don’t quite understand this).
I can’t vouch for the book selection here just yet, but I will say that the variety of magazines available is solid.
The only slight complaint I have is that, on the two occasions I’ve been here so far, it has been a little on the cold side.

This definitely is my favourite library in the city! I was so ecstatic when it finally opened up a few years back that I honesty made a trip there every week.
I didn’t necessarily take a book each time, but I just enjoyed browsing through their enormous selection of all different kinds of books. I would normally stick to the mystery section (which is gigantic) but I enjoy perusing other sections at this library. I love they way everything is set up. It makes it extremely easy to locate a particular book.
The staff at this location seem to be a little friendlier than most other libraries. They don’t have the stereotypical workers who shush you every minute or leer at you over the top of their glasses. The employees are actually super friendly and definitely know their way around this place!
The Crowfoot Public Library truly is one of the most beautiful libraries in the city… okay, now I just sound like a crazy person. But it’s true. My favourite by far!

I hadn’t been to this library since it opened. When I left town, it was still being built.
The other day I wandered in and was absolutely floored. It is HUGE. It’s almost overwhelming, but I LOVE the fact that it’s SO spacious and SO brand-​new!
The location is prime: right next to the Crowfoot YMCA. And especially now that the C-​Train travels to Crowfoot Village, it makes it really easy for everyone to get over to the library! And especially if you live in the North West, it’s like a 5 minute drive from the Country Hills Superstore!
Having seen the size and elaborateness of this library makes me wish that I still lived in the N.W.
It’s truly fantastic and it stands out from the other libraries in town.
If you haven’t yet been, I highly recommend you take a trip over. And the good news is that even if you take out some books from this branch, you can always return them to the branch nearest you! See, you wont have make a return trip back if it’s out of your way! Now you really have NO excuses so go check it out already!
