One of my favourite pastimes has to be at shopping at pawn shops. I love perusing their wares, I always look for out of date cameras and the odd musical instrument, and it gives my heart a shot of adrenalin much like a shot of espresso. But now I am on a rampage to collect gold rings, I don’t know what has gotten into me, but I figured if I bought some bling, I might as well invest in something that increases in value instead of decreasing to my waste basket. So I checked out this pawn shop the other day, and saw a sign outside that said Spanish spoken. And never passing a chance to practise my bad Spanish, I thought I should hit two birds with one stone. The owner there is from El Salvador and is extremely pleasant; he has a really nice selection of musical instruments, amplifiers, cameras, iPods, video games, etc. Summing it up good quality items in a small pawn shop. His store is nice and tidy and everything seems to be priced reasonably. We talked for a good while in my bad Spanish, and because he didn’t show any signs of cringing at it I decided to stay a wee longer and really look around. My eye finally rested on a nice art deco gold ring with an aqua marine stone; very nice and very simple. I really enjoyed my visit at this store and will return again to entertain the thought of an amp and an electric guitar. But am thinking twice about it, as my neighbours already have taken a shine to me.

Not a lot of selection in this pawnshop. Crappy bikes, guitars, golf clubs and even a karaōke machine. I don’t remember the price on that, but it wasn’t worth it. Unless you want to torment someone… Active has a few hundred dvds, like most pawnshops, with a going rate of 3 for $ 12. That might be the only thing of value here.
