Exquisite. We have come here for dinner and for the New Year’s Eve dinner. Such amazing meals, and you can tell the chef loves what he does. He came and greeted all of us. He even accommodated my vegetarian friends for our New Year’s Eve dinner. Amazing culinary experience to say the least. But be prepared to spend some money. You get what you pay for, and I feel the dinner is worth every penny.

Amazing experience. Everything we ordered was prepared to perfection. The meal I ordered: Red Beet Panna cotta, Alaskan Black Cod, and Green Tea Crème Brulee. Great service as well. Our server recommended red wine Cabenet Sauvignon and it was just right sweetness and dryness. I would come back for special occasion.

Absolutely fabulous… just go, you wont be disappointed. Small place, hidden away in the corner of a plaza. Décor is cool, atmosphere is great. Only has 13 tables and is only open from Wednesdays-Sundays. Everything we had tasted amazing, so flavourful. Chef Matteo DEFINITELY knows what he is doing and then some. Everything was cooked to perfection. Menu changes every month and the features change weekly or even daily. HIGHLYRECOMMENDTHISPLACE!!!

I’ve been back twice since writing my July 2013 review — and Chef Matteo delivered both times. Some observations: the menu changes often and this works well since it is a menu that is on the short side. There will always be some specials(fish and game), and there seems to be a regular space on the menu for creative pork dishes(like last night, one simply called Pig. Head. Loin. Belly.) We’ve found the deserts a bit hit and miss, but the liquid goat cheese cake with red pepper ice cream and pistachio crust was a true winner. The execution of all dishes is near perfect, and Black Tree has a confidence in what it is doing that is both refreshing and salutary. Toronto friends and food followers: this is WELL worth the trip to Burlington and back!

We are so fortunate that Blacktree has decided to stay small and deliver huge! By far the best fine dining establishment in Burlington! It is only one of four restaurants ever to be given 4 stars from the Toronto Star… I have been numerous times and have never been disappointed. It’s unfair to readers to share the dishes as Matteo changes the menu every month… Incredible! Matteo is a culinary genius! Thanks for staying in Burlington! @chefslicer

If there was an option for 6 or even 7 stars, this restaurant would deserve it. I can honestly say without hesitation that I’ve never eaten a better meal than the ones I’ve eaten at Blacktree. For my latest dinner at this restaurant I started with an appetizer of beets with grapefruit, ginger, and goat cheese. The flavours were amazing together and there was also a fun assortment of textures on the plate. My entrée was the elk, which was cooked to a perfectly juicy rare(note: always order your meat one step DOWN from how you like it at this restaurant. For example, I like my steaks rare, but I order them medium rare at Blacktree). It came with an oxtail croquette, tamarillo, and white chocolate. That sounds like a bizarre flavour combination, and it was, but it worked! I ordered the mint chocolate parfait with coffee bean brownie for dessert and it was everything a dessert should be — and more! If you are a foodie seeking not a meal, but an experience, then you need to check out Blacktree!

If you love great food done really really well then GO to Black Tree! Chef Matteo is a master of the eclectic. His passion and attention detail is unrivaled. The Resto itself is tucked away in a nondescript strip mall which is actually quite apropos. Unless you were told where to go or invited by a regular you probably would never be fortunate enough to taste the creations from Matteo. You owe it to yourself to go there. Seasonal local inspired menus, great wines, top shelf staff, cool atmosphere what else can I say? It’s a fav. Definitely in the top 5 of my places to eat in Canada.

Whew. Back to 5 stars, with yet another great meal. Bacon-wrapped calf brains and foie gras terrine for starts and both impeccable. Mains of Cardamum hen and Nori tuna, both served with seasonal root veggies. Service was outstanding — including a suprise mocktail for my pregnant wife so she didn’t feel left out in the festivities.
