We came here HANGRY because of a slow pedicure session earlier in the afternoon and it was tough to not select one of everything and chow down. However, we refrained and managed to select some really delicious items. A favourite was the«house roll» which we were happy the server recommended as I’m not sure we would’ve picked it otherwise. I liked that there is some dim sum on the menu because it provided an opportunity to try for the first time. Personally, I did not like the texture of what we ordered and whether or not that is what dim sum is, I don’t think I’ll be keen on eating again. I liked my dinner here and if I’m back in B-town, I would go again.

1 word, iPads. That’s all you need to know. You can place your order with iPads! The food was amazing and the speed was surprisingly fast. I highly recommend this place. The restaurant was nicely laid out and clean. Will go again for sure.

Great All You Can Eat sushi restaurant. This restaurant offers both dim sum and sushi so you can get the best of both worlds! They have some very nice and delicious maki rolls such as the Dynamite roll, blowtorch Tuna and Salmon Takaki rolls. The Sashimi portions are cut bigger than other places I’ve been too and still very good. The bacon wrapped asparagus and beef enoki rolls were both my personal favourites. The price of all you can eat for dinner is a bit on the higher end at about $ 28.99 during the weekends but I think it’s worth it because they offer a variety of unique rolls that you don’t see at other sushi restaurants. Overall, great dining experience. Friendly staff, great ambience and a great customer service. Would definitely go back for some great sushi.

Hands down best sushi in Burlington. Don’t even talk to me about anywhere else. Seriously. Don’t. Freshest, yummiest, fastest, cheapest, cleanest, trendiest, and many more –iest(meaning THEBEST) adjectives describe August 8. Just go. Right now. Yes, this is a repeat of my Hamilton August 8 review. They’re frikkin’ awesome so what more can I say.

food is same with other locations but service is not that good. We didn’t get any water or wasabi when we were starting to eat until we requested. it’s not rush hour. at the middle, server asked us do we want to get the bill but we haven’t done yet. Do not like the service and will not come again.

This place was originally just called August and it would include 8 in brackets because August is the 8th month and 8 is a lucky number in Oriental countries. However more and more people started calling it August 8 instead of just August(8) and so the owner changed the name of the restaurant to reflect it, and so that’s why it’s now called August 8! As for the place itself, the first thing I realized is that the parking lot is TINY. The restaurant itself also occupies a really small area. We had to wait for some customers to leave in order to take their parking spot. When we went in, our host asked us to wait in the waiting area until they had a table ready. The waiting area is very small – only 4 – 5 seats at the entrance. So if you’re going with a big group, definitely make a reservation so that you don’t have to wait. Inside, the décor is beautiful. The walls are elegantly designed and everything is laid out in a simple but modern manner. You order with an iPad, like most other sushi buffets nowadays. The food is actually really good. I was pleasantly surprised because I thought it would taste like every other sushi buffet. Even the seaweed salad, which usually tastes bland at every other restaurant, tasted good here. They offer dim sum, sushi, sashimi, and just about everything. Aside from the usuals, I recommend their mango pudding dessert and banana tempura. I also ordered two drinks, the Sangria and Bellini. Definitely recommend the Bellini – it looked and tasted great. At the end, when we asked for our bill we noticed that they charged us for 3 cocktails instead of 2… I don’t even understand how they got it wrong because we ordered straight from the iPad and it even had the record that we only ordered 2 drinks. When we told the lady who gave us our bill, she went back to her station to change it. But before changing it, she said really loudly and skeptically to her coworker, «They’re saying they only ordered 2 drinks instead of 3. Did they really?» When she gave us our bill again, she didn’t even bother to apologize for the mistake or even look at us – she just dropped the receipt on the table. I found that really unprofessional and not a good way to end the meal. So overall, the food and atmosphere are great, the service is good with the exception of one lady, but the spaces(of the parking lot, dining area, and tables) are small.

The parking is limited. The service is terrible. The cooks do not put care into their food. Do not ruin your appetite by eating here.

As usual, we very much enjoyed our dinner there last nite… but the menu is now brought to the table on an iPad… you fill out what you want, and click order. With 3 adults we all got lost when the many various items were lumped together on single large service platters… Still great food tho!

The Sushi here is amazing — my review is based solely on service. The staff here seem grumpy and annoyed when you walk in the door. Perhaps because it is an all you can eat type place they tend to draw a crowd with healthy appetites… For me a smile really goes a long way — I am a fan of sushi and believe that it is fresh and prepared well so will likely be back, but if management reads this I am hoping you can encourage your staff to smile and show a few signs of typical hospitality. Your restaurant is quite large and I am sure you will not be able to afford the rent on take out only type menu

Now, before everyone everyone bashes me for the 3 stars, I would like to say I am from Vancouver, BC and we pride ourselves on having really good sushi. I was in Burlington for a work trip, and needed to get my sushi craving fulfilled. And it didn’t live up to my standards. The selection is great — dim sum, steak options and sushi and dessert. Totally awesome. Our AYCE sushi places doesn’t have as big of a selection, but with that being said, the quality of food was not up to par. The dimsum isn’t as big as the portions in Vancouver, but they were tasty. The sushi, however, left a bigger craving even though I left the restaurant full. I had the rainbow roll and the lover’s sushi(which is basically roe on top of a pringles chip, wtf?!) and they were okay. The sashimi was pretty decent, but I was not a fan of the tuna. The service was good, and so was the green tea ice cream. But I’ll stick to Vancouver to satisfy my sushi cravings.

Awesome dim sum and sushi joint, with all you can eat that means you can relax and enjoy as much of he extensive menu as you want. It also means if you come in hungry and eat a lot, its tremendous value! Its always very busy, especially for early dinner service, so get there early. All the sushi is excellent and freshly made. Don’t miss out on the dim sum, especially the shrimp and chive dumplings, shrimp-stuffed eggplant and pork shui mai. The sponge cake is also delicate and delicious, as is the green tea ice cream. A great family place to eat, I’ve been here on many occasions and never had a bad meal. I haven’t had the poor service experience other reviews have indicated, but the staff can be very busy at times when the restaurant is full, so there are times when you need to attract their attention. But I’ve never found anyone rude. I highly recommend it!

The food is absolutely fantastic. This is a total must if you like variety or want sushi when someone in your party isn’t a fan. The service isn’t all that great but the chive and shrimp dumplings and sushi make us for it. Make sure to get in well before 3 though if you’re having lunch. They stop serving you at 3 so they can start dinner service.

Im surprised to read about bad customer service at this location, because that was not my experience at all. Maybe I went on a good day! I went on a Sunday during peak lunch hour and was seated in a matter of 15 minutes. My friend, who is an overly cautious eater, had several questions about the menu. The server patiently answered all of his questions. The food came out within a reasonable time frame, and there was one mix up, which was attended to promptly. I do agree with one previous review about the parking situation –it is a nightmare!

My worst experience in customer service ever. I’m literally still sitting at the restaurant as I write this review. Decided to give it a second try as I had the same bad experience the first time. Staff at this place are very arrogant and NOT helpful at all. My family’s experience wasn’t good at all. The food is just okay but not near the best. Not coming again. I hope the manager reads this and makes some changes to help future customers have a better experience than mine.

Not impressed with the staff at all! Ordered desserts and none of it came expect for the ice-cream. Ordered more ice-cream hoping the rest of the dessert would come… Well nothing, so we decided to leave. While waiting for a staff to cash us out, she asked us «table for 2?» Meanwhile she was the staff that seated us an hour ago. Ridiculous. The best part is. After we paid with no tip of course, our deep fried banana came but what about the rest of the desserts?(Sponge cake and deep fried sesame ball). So it took them 30 minutes for 1 of our desserts to come… So ridiculous.

More of a sushi place than dim sum, only 8 or so items on the dim sum menu, and no sweet soya sauce :(Waited 15 min for takeout in a ¼ full dining area. Friendlier than most dim sum places. Didn’t make me wait in the cold foyer either. Dim sum portions were small, miniature even. And there were only 3 shrimp dumplings where most dim sum places give you 4. Wasn’t impressed with the dim sum, but it seems like that’s the best your gonna get in Halton. Go to Mississauga for dim sum!

4 stars for the AYCE dim sum and dessert selection. 3 for the sushi. Really nice interiors. Good, fast, and friendly service. Ms Brooks Brothers and I went Sunday late AM and seating was easy. High points are the squid(fantastic) and the dessert selections. The sushi was your basic AYCE grade. I liked they had normal tuna(as opposed to that infernal white tuna) on the lunch menu. I will say the tuna didn’t taste super scrumptious.

I hate giving two stars to this place, but. I’d heard the rumours of an AYCE dim sum/sushi place for some time, but they were just that: Rumours(started by the jealous people). Then I drove past this place recently and immediately made plans to visit the next time I visited the Towne of Burling. Weeks later, my wife and I were the first to show at noon. My chick sensed that it didn’t bode well, as most dim sum establishments are packed by 12 p.m. We were quickly shown to our table by the hostess. Imagine the opposite décor of a Chinese/Japanese restaurant. This place was very dark, pot lights, modern wallpaper, leather-like chairs and Adele’s «21» pumping through the sound system. But an atypical sushi making station at the back fully staffed. AYCE here is $ 14.99/person and from what I could gather, you couldn’t opt out. Now, I can eat. But I have never broken the $ 30 barrier at any dim sum place and without popping anything in my mouth I had already done that here. I’m sure it is b/c the Japanese portion of the menu uses pricier ingredients and special staff are needed to make each dish. That said, if you’re sticking to dim sum only it was way too expensive You’re given a notepad to fill out menu items and quantities and periodically the notes are taken and orders are placed. First up was a dragon roll and edamame. Edamame was under-boiled and dragon roll was tasteless and sweet«brown sauce»(not oyster, hoisin, etc.) was drizzled over it and the plate. So these were the last Japanese plates ordered. Next up were deep fried squid, shiu mai, chive/shrimp dumplings, bbq pork buns, steamed beef balls, sticky rice, etc., blah, blah. Nothing of note. All portions were smaller than your typical serving. All were rubbery(supreme shrimp dumplings weren’t THAT bad), and the steamed beef was inedible; I couldn’t bite through them. The menu says«When Culinary Worlds Collide…» Collide they did. Staff were quick, efficient and clinical.
