Amazing place. I think we were the only tourists there. Off the tourist path a bit but worth the walk. The staff was exceptional and the food, even better. I had langoustines for a starter and Kangaroo steak for my main and was delicious! I highly recommend this place.

A cozy restaurant with a menu that offers a delicious journey from Camembert to kangaroo. Our first bite was a smoked trout and fennel soup, with just enough pepper for a little kick. My starter was a deep fried camembert served with apple slices and a salad topped with a hint of mustard vinaigrette. For the main course, I did deviate quite far from the list of Belgian delicacies. But never having tried kangaroo, it was hard to resist. The dish did not disappoint. The taste and texture sit between venison and beef steak. It came with a mushroom sauce on the side that I saved instead for my frites. They have a full bar and extensive wine list, complete with maps of the wines’ origins. Mojo has a very comfortable feel to the place, starting with the warm welcome and excellent service throughout. The location is just south of Astridpark, about 10 minutes walk from the Markt. Wonderful food, casual atmosphere and excellent service made for a great experience that I highly recommend.

When I’m in a Unilocal-less land and in need of recommendations on local businesses, I turn to the salt of the earth: cab drivers. Certainly, the lady who drove our chariot from the Brugge train station to our hotel didn’t lead us wrong with Resto Mojo(which she pointed out as we drove by). The simple, elegant space is modern and comfortable, featuring a couple of different seating sections and a massive bar that consumes much of the front room. I suppose that’s not terribly surprising, considering the number of brilliant Belgian breweries. From the asparagus soup amuse-bouche to last spoonfuls of refreshing Kolonel(a traditional dessert featuring lemon sherbet and icy vodka), we couldn’t have asked for a better meal. The scampi melon dish was precisely that: wedges of tender sweet cantaloupe and massive juicy prawns just lightly crisped. The boy’s Dover sole came in a hugely generous portion of –three– fillets with a light side salad and heavy cream sauce in a gravy boat. My own Flemish stew was rich and hearty — a good bolster to the cool night air into which we departed. Our server fellow(and possibly the restaurant’s proprietor?) spoke reasonably fine English. Prices weren’t cheap, but I found them utterly reasonable for the quality of our experience: four beers, a starter, two mains, and a dessert for just ~€ 75 was a bargain for all the food and drink we consumed. If you’re only going to be in Brugge for a night or two, be sure to make a booking at Resto Mojo. It’d be a shame to miss out on such a superb local gem.
