Restaurant intimiste en plein cœur de Bruges, qui propose une cuisine de bistro, à l’inspiration très française ! Les plats sont copieux, et de qualité, avec une inventivité dans la présentation ! C’est une bonne surprise ! Un petit bémol: la gamme de prix: on a plus l’habitude en France d’avoir des prix plus doux pour une cuisine de bistro, mais les prix brugeois sont élevés.

Excellent bistro. Interesting menu of some local foods and more exotic fare. Both of the day’s specials(monkfish with a leek-spinach-courgette wine sauce and venison with incredible potato blintzes and chocolate sauce) were delicious and honored what was local and in season. Lovely dining room and service. We have a child with a picky palate and the waiter and chef took excellent care. He was happy and so were we. Walk away from the € 20 moules specials on the square and enjoy a nice meal and wine list.

I was fortunate to move to Brugge for work many years ago and Den Amand quickly became one of my favorite places. Small, charming, great service and food that was spectacular. I left after several years and on a whim, decided to go back about 4 years later with a friend. I called in advance from abroad to make a reservation and without even saying my name, the host recognized my voice. Four years later. Pretty amazing. And the food remained the same, just delicious. If you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity, I highly recommend the scallops in saffron sauce and the ostrich filet. Honestly though, you can’t go wrong. It is such a great place!

Très bien situé, dans la rue juste à côté du Markt. L’endroit est plaisant, la nourriture de qualité, les plats sont copieux et le rapport qualité/prix est excellent. On a malheureusement pas pris de dessert étant déjà repus à cause du plat. Ce sera assurément pour une prochaine fois !

We were lucky to obtain a seat without reservation when we showed up. The waiter/so-owner was very hospitable, and we found ourselves in the last unreserved table for 1.5 hours. The Den Amand does not open very long(roughly 6pm to 9.30pm). We ordered loempas with salad, and one of their fish variations dish. Must say, both are simply good. The chef/co-owner’s style is subtle and mellow in terms of flavour, so that all the ingredients mold together without imbalance or overemphasis. The chive sauce infused with white wine and the herbed napolitana sauce, are well, everything you’d want them to be. When one breaks apart the individual ingredients of the dishes, like the goat cheese, the beans, the dressing of balsamic and olive, etc., none of them are exotic. There seems to be no trick. One could well say: «how do you make simple vegetables taste this good?», although I’m certain much of this is because their fair-trade sources are good. The end result is simply worth investigating.

What a great time we had here. My wife and two daughters(8 and 5), and I went and had an excellent meal. The place is an intimate, warm, friendly café. The menu has both traditional Belgian and exciting innovative entrees. The waiter was friendly and very accommodating to my daughters. The food was excellent, by far the best meal I’ve had in Belgium. If you’re going to be in Brugge, make a reservation here.

You must make a reservation. This is a small locals restaurant that stands out in a sea of tourist traps. One owner serves the food and takes the reservations and the other owner is the chef. They have created a beautifully unique menu that bursts with flavor. The portions are quite big. I could have shared my Spring roll. There are a number of different types of spring rolls on the menu – all looked amazing! They use fresh ingredients and create unique dishes that are truly inspired. The setting is bright and cheery and anti-touristy. We loved every minute of our time in this lovely restaurant. I was in charge of finding our meal destinations and was awarded 5 stars for this choice. I am pretty sure we were the ONLY tourists in the place.
