After a great meal, down the street, we decided to have a last cocktail at the Glorious. I walked by this place a numerous times and never went in because it seemed so dark. But when you walk in, you really walk in this speakeasy-like restaurant with a nice filled bar! Me likey! I can’t talk about the food but I’ll definitely try it some day(it’s in my list for restaurants to try), but everything looked very good from what I saw. We sat at this amazing bar and talked to the owner, Jurgen. We were talking about that we had wine all evening and that we would like something in that line. He sat he’ll hook us up and boy did he! He made us an amazing Hendricks Gin and Rosewater tonic with dash of magic. A great cocktail which indeed was a perfect ending for an evening. But knowing myself, I can’t stand on one leg so I ordered another cocktail but this time rum based. I was happy to get one without coke for once. Don’t get me wrong, I like coke and rum but sometimes you have to open up for new things. Again the owner made us a Mount Gay rum with Fever Tree Ginger Ale. Wow, I think I found myself a new drink. I had a great dinner, great food and a great night. Unfortunately… I was a bit surprised when the bill came. The cocktails were really good but I would have preferred to pay less than 15 to 16EUR a piece for it. especially know that there were only 2 drinks in there. All by all, a must try place!

I was enjoying a late afternoon glass of wine when a drunk attacked me as 3 – 4 staff members were hanging out, laughing and enjoying themselves. No one from the staff tried to stop him, and no one came to check if I was ok. They just continued laughing and pouring champagne for the drunk and his group. And yes, they did see what happen — the bartender mumbled ‘sorry’ to me as I was paying my bill. The décor and the wine list is great, but the service is just horrible. I’ve never felt less safe at a ‘nice’ place before. Do not go, unless you are planning on visiting with your rugby buddies. Even then, there must be a place where the staff would care more about having drunks attacking patrons…
