‘Mark The Terrifying Sharptooth’ and I ordered take away pizzas from here one evening after reading all of the great reviews online, but unfortunately for me, It just didn’t live up to the hype. On the plus side, the restaurant feels rather homely with white linen table cloths, rustic wooden tables and chairs and of course, the delicious smell of pizzas that fill up the room. Mostly dedicated to serving pizzas, however the menu does offer a small selection of cured meats and salads and 6 inch dessert pizzas for $ 10, which could be lethal when winter sets in. On the down side, the 12 inch pizzas are cooked in an electric oven and the toppings on both of our pizzas were incredibly minimal. One whole prawn on each quarter of our ‘Gamberi Piccante’ and one slice of pineapple and one slither of ham on our ‘Hawaiian’ made for a rather uninspiring Italian feast. It was literally one ingredient per bite. Next time, I’ll dine in to see whether my experience is better. Tip: They don’t deliver, so you’ll have to pick up your take away order.

I’ve eaten at this place five or six times now and I’ve slowly come to the realization that it’s not all that. I really liked their zucchini and chili pizza which is really nice but the more I eat it the more I realize that it’s really overpriced and not as great as the first time I had it. Their Margherita pizza isn’t that great either. I’ve eaten at DOC in carlton lately and now this place pales in comparison. I’ve had home delivery once and when the pizza arrived it was cold. I’m only a five minute drive away. My son smiled at one of the waitresses and she stone-faced him. Everyone on my table thought it was hilarious. I think I’ve had enough of this place, but it is quite possible that I may stop in to have some dessert pizza.

Ho hum. Locals rave about this place but I’m not convinced: The pizzas are pricey and mine was extremely salty. Service was pleasant but Mr. D makes much better pizzas at home, sans saltbomb. I won’t return in a hurry.

I’m in two minds about this place. On the plus side, the food was generally ok and the wait staff friendly and efficient. However, the drinks menu is extremely limited, and non alcoholic drinks are quite expensive($ 6.50 for a glass of Cola!). I found my pizza almost impossible to eat — the base was so tough I almost asked for a steak knife to help me with it. Some of the menu options were fairly uninspiring. To be totally honest I probably would’ve preferred a greasy pizza from the local takeaway to this place.

OMG… Luccellino…what you’ve done with a pizza oven, passion and creativity. In a recent episode of «The Layover» Chef /Travel writer Anthony Bourdain visited a famous pizzeria in Rome where he learnt the secret to great pizza — always use only three topping ingredients, and make sure that each ingredient is the freshest and the best you can find. Luccellino has a similar moto, everything is fresh and the topping structures are simple yet well balanced. This place is a definite finalist in my category of «superb pizza, delicious salads, white table clothes, intimate pre movie chats and great wine». This probably explains why the place was full of ‘girls night out’ tables of four when I ventured past. This would also have to be one of the cheaper restaurants(it’s not a café) in Yarraville. Enjoy!

Smoked salmon pizza! YUM! Even though the pizzas are on the pricey side, it’s worth it. My fave is the salmon pizza(can’t remember it’s name on the menu). So delicious. I took some of my ‘north of the yarra’ friends here and they love it. We use to go to Pizza Meine Liebe in Northcote, but now prefer this place instead — I actually think its better. If anything, the service is much more friendlier(but that could be a Western suburbs thing). Anyways, book ahead as this place is always busy. And if there’s only two of you, sit in the window. Great for people watching.

L’Uccellino has a strong claim to the title of ‘best pizza in Melbourne’. Their traditional Italian-style, thin-crust pizzas are cooked to perfection. There are a large variety of gourmet pizzas to choose from — the toppings are just right, not overdone on quantity. My favs are the Capriciosa, Genovese, Funghi Porcini and the Romana. Wait staff are efficient and friendly enough. The restaurant is very cozy, so come early or make reservations. Prices for a large pizza range from about $ 14 – 20. Beer and wine(served in little tumblers) are on the menu. I have been multiple times and have yet to walk away disappointed.
