Sigh! This place has consistently deteriorated in quality and value since we moved in. SUCH potential but the management just doesnt get it!
Today we went into the pub for a quick Sunday drink around 6pm. Completely empty pub (should have been our first clue.) Ordered drinks. Nearly $ 9 for a schooner!
I said to the barmaid — this is why no one is in your pub! Far too expensive. She gave me some lame-​ass excuse that «Paddington is expensive, so to be competitive we have to raise our prices.» Um, that’s actually the OPPOSITE of what you should be doing — make yourselves more affordable and more people will want to drink in your pub, maybe that’s why it’s Sunday and no one is here? Such a shame and wasted potential. No wonder its dead. Never again…
The booths are still awesome, but the attitude (and prices) suck.

Fact: the closer you are to Woollahra, the better a class of person you feel like you are. Which is why you feel bigger and more important with a higher earning capacity at the Light Brigade than you do at the Paddo Inn. No, I don’t know why either, but it’s a thing, trust me.
I came here for a solo beer and to punch through some work, set up shop in the back couch bar and sipped on Pure Blondes like they were chardonnay and watch an old man go to town on the TAB across the room like old men are wont to do.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say the best time to be here is a late Thursday afternoon/​evening with the daylight savings sun shining in an there’s not too many people. Pinkies in the air, yo.

Beer is about $ 6.50, lots of TVs to enjoy sport games in the smaller back/​side room with a 2^nd bar — good for a private group. There is also a wide open front section with proper tables and the main bar. Was here on a Saturday night, and it was fairly empty except for a sports team that regularly frequents this hotel during their season. A relaxed place for a low key, casual group wanting relatively inexpensive drinks.

Love the pub, great place to watch sports. Not great on manners. I had a drink spilt none and the restaurant upstairs refused to let me use their bathroom to sort my self out as I wasn’t dining there. Not great manners guys.

great pub with good beers on tap. white rabbit (white and dark ale), coopers and granny’s cider. BIGGEST SCREEN for footy — but i think it’s more of an afl and rugby union sports crowd. love the place, good vibe, will always come here.

This lovely old art deco pub sits on the corner of Oxford Street and Jersey Road in Paddington. It gets busy when games are on at the nearby Sydney Football Stadium — or even just when a game is being played on their huge plasma screen. It’s not my all-​time favourite of the Paddington pubs (I’d still opt for The London over most others), but it’s in a good spot and has some great meal specials on during the week. Pop in on Monday nights for a $ 15 meal and drink combo, Tuesday for $ 12 schnitzels and Wednesday for $ 12 steaks.

The perfect way to watch some sports (aside from going to the real thing) is to watch it live on a big screen with a couple hundred people and a drink in your hand. All this can be done in one place: The Light Brigade Hotel on Oxford Street. This Art Deco pub is a Sydney institution where everyone goes to enjoy a drink, a satisfying meal, and a great deal of sports. And if sports isn’t really your thing, you might still want to drop by because they have really delicious steaks that are priced at only $ 12 every Wednesday and $ 10 delicious lunches from Monday to Friday. Aside from the really affordable food, they also serve the best beef brisket pie with encebollado which is mouth-​wateringly good. All in all, there’s no wonder why this place is considered a Sydney institution. Highly recommended!

Beautiful art deco bar with booths to slink into. Can attract a younger (pissy) crowd these days (or am I just getting older?) They’ve got a few big screens in here and it’s a pretty big space so it can be a good spot for a big game. Post game/​races, however, is a different story. I’ve popped in a couple of times recently — post footy final, and post Melbourne Cup — and the placed was feral to say the least. It feels like the carnage remnants of the day’s sporting shenanigans somehow seem to end up here late at night, so my hot tip: enjoy this place while the night is young then venture elsewhere. Unleash your inner nerd at Monday night trivia. $ 5 Coronas on Friday nights are a refreshing way to kick start any weekend. Eat lunch for just 10 bucks from Monday to Friday. There’s hefty range of schnitzels to choose from. Classic with lemon; trusty Parmigiana; Jaegar with button mushroom and mustard sauce; and the Fat Boy with spicy beef and molten cheddar cheese. Salt n pepper squid; beef nachos; steak sanga; fish n chips; chicken Caesar; Angus beef burger and Greek lamb salad are ALL just 10 bucks!!! You could dine here every day of the week and never get bored. In fact…

The Light Brigade’s main focus is as a sports bar. Any time there’s a big event on this place is heaving with UFC or football fans and it’ got a great atmosphere for all those types of events.
It’s a nice spacious venue and with it’s wooden bars and booths it doesn’t try and shove the «sports» theme down your throat. I find all the sporting paraphernalia that bedecks a lot of sports bars too lary and tacky, and the Light Brigade keeps that stuff to a minimum.
Close proximity to The Sydney Football Stadium and Sydney Cricket Ground also makes it a popular watering hole pre– or post-​match.

I’ve always been curious about this pub because they advertise the biggest plasma screen in the world. Quite a big claim to make. I’m also a big sports fan, so the bigger the screen the better… right?
So, what more fitting occasion to go than a World cup semi final between Australia and NZ. What a great game to watch on a massive screen. I was even wondering how the biggest screen in the world could even fit into an indoor venue…
Well, I felt pretty let down to be honest. It was a sizeable screen, no doubt about that. But I’m sure I’ve seen bigger. Maybe not bigger plasma screens? So, whats the big deal with plasma? Picture quality? I’m not really sure.
Anyway, nothing too special here. A good sports pub for sure. Plenty of beer on tap, decent service and a good nachos. Excellent location too making it a pretty good meeting spot to settle in for a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

If you’ve ever been thirsty and up the Paddington end of Oxford St then you’ve surely come across The Light Brigade.
You’ll love this place if sport is your thing. During the winter seasons there is always a game on of any code showing on the big screen. And with sound! To much sound some might say. There’s multiple tele’s so even if you game of choice isn’t on the big screen (with sound) you can watch it on one of the other t. v’s around.
In summer the cricket is like part of the furniture and there’s even a TAB area located behind the main bar area.
I’ve even walked past numerous times and observed a big vocal crowd getting in to the Ultimate Fighting Challenge. I must admit that surprised me a touch!
If sport is not your thing then maybe it’s not the most ideal place for you although when there is not a game on (with sound) it’s a pleasant airy place to enjoy a drink or a meal from the bistro. It has your basic pub grub like burgers, schnitzels and salads and it’s suffice.
Booths surround the walls so those that missed the Happy Days era can reminisce about what it was like back in the day.
