Not a big breakfast person but I woke up hungry this morning and decided to take an early stroll down Chapel Street in search of bacon and eggs. Didn’t have to walk far. The School of Seven Bells is next to Windsor station. I’ve walked past this funky little eatery a million times and although it always manages to draw a decent crowd, never stopped myself. Interesting menu with options like Carrot and Lentil Fritters, Croquette Benedict and House Made Baked Beans. I chose the latter which came with chilli jam, bacon, Gorgonzola sauce and a poached egg(I asked for mine fried and the staff were happy to oblige). The beans were cooked in a tomato based sauce; a little too tomatoey for me but tasty nevertheless. The eggs were slightly undercooked, and I struggled to find the bacon the menu promised. They do a good iced chocolate though

I used to enjoy coming here but recently the meals(if you get the right one) have gone down hill and if you mention anything to the staff they just switch off as if you’re not talking. Coffee is still good however I won’t risk coming back for a crappy breakfast. Disappointing.

My first time here & it looks great & the staff seem genuinely nice which is refreshing, the location is great you just get off at Windsor station & it’s at your doorstep. I’m only getting a coffee today so I will have to update my review next time I come bak, by the looks of things they have a large selection of sandwiches & breakfast items.

Love this place! Every Saturday we head to 7 bells after training. Usually 6 –8 of us. They always do there best to accommodate us. Super friendly staff, great menu(try the acai bowl), and great coffee. Everything a great a breakfast place needs this place has.

Mem R told me about School of 7 Bells and it’s been on my bookmark list for a while. On this trip I finally got around to eating breakfast here and sipping a double shot flat white. I admit, I was too bleary eyed post migraine to actually absorb the intricacies of the menu but the scrambled eggs with spinach, avo, feta and tomato I ordered was neutral enough to give me a wholesome start to the day and restore some humanity and my ability to function. The coffee was equally restorative and all for less than $ 20!

I can’t remember what first made me add this café to my Unilocal bookmarks but the moment to take it off the«to try» list finally arrived a couple of weekends ago when my friends let me take the breakfast reins. We’d all come together from out of town(a collection of three other cities!) for a wedding and possibly should have planned ahead instead of traipsing Chapel St in our ten-strong posse, bellies hungry and fingers crossed. Despite it being a small venue, the team at School of 7 Bells were super accommodating of a big group with no warning! The service throughout the meal was awesome, as was everything we put in our bellies. At least four of us ordered the 3 Bells Benny, which was definitely one of the more awe-inspiring menu items – I tossed and turned trying to decide which of the three Benny choices I wanted before the waiter pointed out to me that I’d get all three. Whaaaaaaaaaaat what is this voodoo breakfast magic. I recommend. The coffee was top notch, as were the locally sourced tea selections(get the vanilla choc mint, go on), and I’ve already given the service a big tick as well. School of 7 Bells is where it’s at. Bring your friends.

Totally overrated this place. Really pokey and awkward dining and an average menu. Food was good, but did not blow my mind.

Well wasn’t this place a pleasant surprise. I tried coming here the other day only to unfortunately arrive just a couple of minutes late. Luckily, I managed to pay it a visit today. Firstly, may I say, I love the location. It is directly above the Windsor train station between the bridge and Wonderland. I’m not 100% sure but I believe it is part of the Artful Dodger franchise and I feel as if this place is the best from the three of which I have gone to. The deco makes it look somewhat of a hipster café but not overwhelmingly so. The staff are friendly and the place just has a generally decent atmosphere. I just had a short mac, but it was really nice, really hit the spot. This being said, I see myself coming here more often than I do Dukes. I don’t know what it is but I just like this place better.

The little venue that remade an old and decaying business on the former site, sits atop the Windsor train station and is named after a pop-indie-alt-modern-electro-fun band. They have a cool pump like coffee thing, it’s great for a long black, and looks very old fashioned, straight out of a European café some 70 years ago. Pretty damm friendly staff and chirpy too. knowledgeable staff; I ordered the Tanzanian coffee and it was great. There’s also awesome fresh toasted sandwich things, and a menu too, which I didn’t even see. The interior of this small place is modernist; bronzy coloured paints and traditional with brass, mirrors and old works, panels etc from a lost era. I Got my money’s worth here, for sure! None of this $ 17.80 for a stamp sized sandwich and another $ 4.70 for coffee. Wins out in the end, but I should come back.

I love the idea that you can drop into a busy café like this and get served so quickly! The coffee from here is great and offers a couple of different coffee beans and methods of serving up the coffee. I headed here with my room mate the bro(aka Aaron W) after fighting through the masses at Chadstone on a busy Saturday afternoon. We both opted for skinny flat whites and were not disappointed(see my pic). The waiter spilled on coffee on hos way over, and immediately took it back replacing the saucer and topping up with steamed milk. When at the register the person taking my payment($ 3.50 per coffee) asked us how our day was going and seemed to really mean it! Definite return here! :-) **edit — I have decided to tKe my review back one star as my friend went to buy a coffee here and was in a rush. He stood there waiting for a couple of minutes, then a person who had ordered after him came forward and took his coffee! Will definitely be keeping and eye on this drop in quality of service.

Great little café, menu is small. But has a neat little twist. Try the Brekky Taco!
