Pulled pork sliders were unreal! Plus Devils staircase Pinot and it can’t go wrong! Highly recommend!

Possibly one of the worst old fashioneds I’ve had in Melbourne. It made me feel sick. They told us that they only had table service but then barely came to our table. There are so many other places to enjoy in the area, I’d try there first. Orange definitely didn’t live up to Melbourne’s high standard.

We came in on a stinking hot day not expecting much. I have drunk here before but not eaten. I ordered the fish of the day which was delicious! Normally I prefer fillets but this was the whole fish, bones, head, tail and all and it didn’t take away from the experience! I also ordered a side salad which was huge and equally delicious. They wher very polite and accommodating to the fact that we don’t eat vegetable oil, so that cooked everything in butter or olive oil… We loved it

Orange has been around for years on the gritty side of Chapel Street and is a bit of an institution. I stopped in briefly for brunch one weekend and it twas good — they do a mean soy latte and I recommend ‘The Gardener’ — visualise a huge serve of saganaki, poached eggs, smashed avo, spinach and mushrooms on Turkish bread #swoon. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying the place for dinner and also delving into the drinks list. So. Much. To. Choose. From.

Had a good tapas style dinner here last week, I found the staff really helpful and not pushy and the place had a relaxing cool vibe. What I liked about it was that we could go out into the back dining area and eat our meal by an open fire. Could have stayed all night…

After some disappointing experiences with Orange a few years back i had basically given up on them. A friend invited me for dinner last Friday and hearing along the grapevine that it was under new management in the last year I thought would give it another go. I can certainly say i am very glad i did. The place just oozes a warm, friendly atmosphere with warm friendly staff to match. Although the waiter suggested sharing plates(which lots of other diners were doing from what i could see) we decided to go with a main each of pork belly and beef cheek. All components were just divine, with incredibly tender cuts of meat cooked to perfection. As i am not a wine connoisseur but defintiely appreciate a drop, the recommendations from the waiter on what would compliment the dish was much appreciated and spot on! What was meant to be a quiet dinner turned out to be a big night with cocktails and great tunes — we didnt want to leave and cant wait to go back!

Cozy hip place with brooklyny servers and a nice vibe. Ducked in for a nice drink on a cold dreary Sunday an enjoyed the chilled music and warm fake fireplace. I hear the food is great but will have to find that out next time. Great place to pass a couple weekend hours.

I’ve been coming to Orange for nearly a decade, and have watched subtle changes both to the exterior and menu during that time. It remains one of my favourite places for coffee on Chapel St, and I really love the breakfast menu, and that they serve breakkie super late. The dinner menu has never really appealed to me, and Ive only ever come here for brunch. They pride themselves on their Bloody Marys, but they shouldnt. Offering at least 4 variations, the basic one I ordered was terrible. And i KNOW my bloody marys. It was thick like pasta sauce and the acidity of the tomato ruined the rest of the drink. Honestly, if you’re going to make such a big deal of offering them, do them right. Im available for consult. But if you stick to the coffee and breakfast, you’ll have a grand time!

The ambience of this café is probably the thing most people love about it, the outdoor seating has a great view of Chapel Street, but enough privacy so you don’t have people walking by hearing every single part of your conversation. Inside is equally as comfortable, very relaxing dining area that stretches right through the restaurant all they way down to a brick alleyway. The menu is contemporary International I have sampled both the breakfast menu as well as the lunch. For lunch I ordered the fettuccine with prawns, it took a very long time to come out and when it did was not at all hot. The sauce was very creamy and a little too rich for my liking, the Espresso Martini however was to die for! Once again quite rich, but in a very elegant and decadent way. I have found the service to be a little slow at Orange, but it could be to do with the restaurant’s popularity, it does get very busy especially on weekends.

Could have been the fact that I was still jet lagged after a month of overseas travel but I felt extremely relaxed at Orange and could have easily mistaken it for one of many memories abroad. Although it was smack bang in the middle of a Melbourne I did’t feel like I was in Melbourne at all. The wait staff that served us were international themselves and super attentive. They knew the all the specials and recommend the lamb shanks, which were literally falling off the bone absolutely delicious! After a few wines, and a few more, a couple of espresso martinis and a shared dessert of baked chocolate pudding, my company and I felt as if we had been swept away to world, in endless conversation. The mood was great, everyone was extremely chatty and the night didn’t end there. What was supposed to be a few quite drinks turned into bar hoping for the remainder of the night. A totally unexpected, unplanned dinning experience that exceeded my expectations.

Orange is one of the most popular, longstanding restaurants on Chapel Street Windsor, but that doesn’t mean I like it. In fact, that was probably the key to its disappointing fall. You see, I came here with high expectations. The ambiance delivered, the warm décor extends snake-like through to the back of the restaurant, where dining becomes divided into a small room and an exposed-brick alleyway. The menu also delivered. The items were extensive, tantalizing and obviously the workings of an experienced, confident chef. However, then the food comes, and everything else just melts away. I couldn’t add enough salt to my meal, and I don’t even like salt. Pepper didn’t help either. It was just $ 28 dollars worth of tastelessness. I gave the place another shot when my partner and I were hungry for a late night dessert. We came here because I remembered that exciting menu. We decided to share a rhubarb tart with warm custard(according to the menu). According to the plate, however, it was a store-bought tart with vanilla ice cream. What happened between the menu and the kitchen I will never know.

I have a really big soft spot for this café. It is such a great«Melbourne» café, with it being cosy in the winter but also can be opened up in the summer with great coffee, solid menu and really nice ambiance. Even for the fact it’s situated on the busy pathway of Chapel Street it seems to get away with creating it’s own environment and definitely gets a lot of attention from the passers-by. I feel like this place doesn’t get as much recognition as it deserves. I love the layout and it is great for coffee lovers as well as those who like their beer or wine and it actually transforms seamlessly into a bar at night. I do love a late night hot chocolate or wine to finish up the day. The café is always pretty busy but it is the diverse nature that attracts me. I feel like it can suit my moods of whether I want just a coffee and a simple meal or if I feel like something a little gourmet with a wine and do love that it is so customer friendly there. I’ve never had any troubles and Orange has been around for a long time so it does seem like the veteran of the«café world» to me. It’s been around the block and understands what their customers want. Very smart and very good quality!
