Viet Hoa Chinese Vietnamese Restaurant

I have been coming here for years just for the lunchtime specials because I work in the area. They are $ 9 – 10 for a medium size takeaway container of rice and your dish which always fills me up. Cheaper then a large size fast food «value» meal so I love it. Recommend the Vermicelli salad with spring roll and sweet and sour pork. Quality and quantity has always been been consistent.

From Southern California– which is pretty much dominated by Asian cuisine haha. I was pleasantly surprised by their pork rib broken rice (it’s called something else on the menu). Affordable price– and I was quite full and happy afterwards! Make sure to ask for sriracha sauce if you enjoy some spice :)
Had some phở from my friend’s bowl as well– it was also pretty good!

For vietnamese food, these guys can’t be faulted. They have cheap prices, a pretty decent menu and the restaurant is quite clean (ish). The staff, they are approachable, don’t necessarily speak the best english, but can generally convey the message across.
Free green tea people. Drink all your merry green tea you want here with your food so you don’t have to worry about paying extra for drinks if you’re on a budget… not that the drinks cost much either (yay for my iced lemon soda). My pick here would be the spring roll and grilled pork vermicelli salad… now this combination doesn’t exist on the menu, but they are happy to customise it to what you want if you tell them when you order. The quail as an entrée is quite the tasty treat, very crispy, very well seasoned and very delicious indeed.
You won’t pay a lot eating a meal for 4 here, and you will most likely be satisfied with your order. My husband has had the phở and it could have had more meat he reckons because the thin slices of beef don’t go very far, especially if they only put a few on the top. But other than that, we will be back and have been.

Viet Hoa (lit ‘Viet House’) is my pick of the cheap Vietnamese/​Chinese around Boundary St. For the same kind of prices you’ll find on Hardgrave Rd, you can get great Phở, fresh salads and traditional whole fish. My parents started going here a lot when they were on a hardcore health kick and they developed a friendship with the owner who made their food specially with a minimum of oil and salt.
My picks of the menu are the salt & pepper quail and their rice paper rolls with sugarcane prawns. The latter option is really good to share with friends.
It’s also BYO which makes it a great choice for a celebration.

Viet Hoa was severely affected by the floods, but it’s since undertaken renovations and a slight facelift and it’s back in business, better than ever.
Viet Hoa is perfect for the price conscious diner because the food is cheap, fresh, and delicious. They do the classics of Vietnamese cuisine well; you can’t go past the salt and pepper quail, which is served piping hot, as well as the grilled pork vermicelli salad. The pork is marinated well and is soft and juicy.
Like at many other Asian restaurants, try not to be distracted by the television by the counter if you’re with friends. An easy remedy for this is to choose a table outside. However, this in itself can be distracting.
Viet Hoa is located on a busy strip and there are often lots of people passing by the outside dining area as the tables are laid out on the sidewalk. So eat at Viet Hoa if you’re after a quick, casual meal that’s family-​oriented; not a date, or if you’re intending to impress the in-​laws.

Everything started well at Viet Hoa, we had a big table of people all ready and willing to celebrate a friends birthday, it’s a BYO restaurant place as well so we were relaxing with a few drinks.
The food came out quick enough and it was also relatively cheap. Everything was going well so far. We had the make your own spring rolls kit and the Bok Choy. It was a night of tasty food and great conversation.
The one, and unfortunately huge problem that my party and I faced was that ⁷⁄₁₀ of us got incredibly sick about 4 hours later. So take caution with this place, it’s a typical Chinese/​Viet restaurant experience, but personally I won’t be going back there any time soon.
